4x SemiLEDs 422nm 10w

4x 430nm 10w

Man, you're thwacking the hell out of that 430nm peak. Why no love for the 410? Something about clams?

Nice build suggestions though. Those luxeon M's out yet? If you're using twenty four RBs to balance four of them to 14,000K, they must be pretty beastly.

I haven't seen the Luxeon M's in action yet, but the rest of that build should be capable of much more than your average halide. Poor ConEd, first they get a hurricane and then they lose their best customer to LEDs.

Might add a couple of these to hit the 584nm peak for chlorophyll C, what with all the clams:

The 410nm peak is about 50-60% of the peak at 430nm, so that's a good point. Steve's newest batch of violets are 422nm instead of 417nm, so they don't hit that lower as much. The 390-430 from LEDGroupBuy doesn't really hit 410nm all that much, either, but it is closer. Hmm.

Steve's gonna get some of the M pretty soon. 1200 lumens at 1A and 85C, 11.5w. The RB is pretty wicked, but it's not out yet, with no ETA, 5500mW at the same specs. The amazing part is that at that power, they beat the efficiency of the Rebel ES, even at 1A.

I think it's actually going to be a bit on the yellow side with using only six RB per white, as for Luxeons it seems to be a 1:10 ratio of lumens to mW, and my calculations tell me at 1200 lumens, I should have 7.5 RB per white. But, I'm pretty sure that Zeph shouldn't run the whites at 100% to avoid damaging his corals. :o

And the NW Luxeons hit amber enough to where it needs no supplementation, even for as many clams as zephy has. :)

Zeph, what's the best way to know if you have your clam in the right amount of flow? I assume if they don't like the flow they'd close up and move?

If the mantle is waving around a little, like this, they are just fine.

But if shes blowing around too much, like this, she may close up and need to be relocated.

That's quite possibly the best response to any question I have ever asked! LMFAO.

Moved the clam to another rock and hasn't hoped off so I'm pretty sure it's attached, looking better everyday!

Hi MeanGreenEyes ! That clam is far off in some wholesalers tank. Phone calls have been made and I am waiting to see if I can purchase it.

Most likely University of Florida if I can get in, to be closer to the GF. NYU would be if I wanted the opposite lol. And I'm studying Marine Biology in the College of Nursing ;)

Another question too, if I do a water change are nitrates 1:1 kind of deal? For example, in a 10 gallon tank with 2ppm Nitrate and do a 50% w/c would it drop to 1ppm?

Nursing school was the best two years of my life. I was the only guy in an all girls catholic school. For some reason the nursing and music department were co-ed.

Sounds like a win! It's 92% Female here last time I checked B) I'm only doing prereqs currently (You have to apply to the University and then to CON for prereqs and again for upper level ) so I have to re-apply for upper level courses spring time.

They aren't the aquatic kind.... ;)

Is the yes regarding the nitrates? I need to work out a schedule to maintain my 1ppm.

Yes...your theory on nitrates is correct.

Oh. dry clams. I think KY Jelly is good for that. Ok I'll stop.LOL

Zeph, that was the best explanation of clams and flows I've ever seen. One I won't soon forget.

Also, what's your opinion on the maximum size clam one should responsibly keep in a 10 gallon? 3"? What about a 20?

Blehhhh, Figuring out how to maintain 1ppm in a 14 gallon system with probably only 10 gallons is going to be a pain, haha. What levels can SPS take? I may just forget about sps and stick with softies/LPS B)
