mattgreene22
Does anyone have a good reference for identifying various types of acans? Wondering what the "scientific" differences are between lords, echinatas, sub-ech, etc. Thanks! Link to comment

vthondaboi
The scene up here is GREAT. Got most of my stuff for my tank at discounted prices due to them. AND here's another one I picked up from a local club sponsor. Link to comment
Caesar777
Damn! That's a lot of polyps. Cuuuute! Link to comment
reef n ale
Hey, look what I ran into this weekend! Can anybody take a shot at the proper id? Rob Link to comment
Caesar777
How large are the polyps? Can you show a size reference? Link to comment
Caesar777
VERY pretty, btw! Dang! Are you from the Pacific Northwest area? Where'd you find something like that around here? Link to comment
reef n ale
Why thank you Flo! The smallest are dime size, then nickels and a few quarters. The whole piece is about 4-5". No, I'm from southeast Pa. Rob Link to comment
Caesar777
Weird, somehow got the idea that you were from around here. Anyway, I'd say echinata, but it could be something else. LOVE the colors, so subtle. Link to comment
reef n ale
Nope, Kennett Square, Pa! It really is the Mushroom Capital of the World(look it up!). Looked like echinata to me, but wasn't sure. The colors are even better in person. I'm not too good with my camera(Nikon 5700). There's alot of blue, burgundy, and purple. Of course, the bright orange with the yellow thingys in the centers! Caesar777
A. hemprichii A. subechinata A. echinata Link to comment
Caesar777
Yup, judging by corallite size and spacing, I'd have to say echinata. GORGEOUS colors. Link to comment
reef n ale
Yup, looks like they are closest to the echinata size. And thanks for the great resource! Rob Link to comment
Caesar777
No prob. I LOVE coralsearch, definitely an invaluable resource. (Never understood the point of invaluable/valuable and inflammable/flammable...They're the same thing, right? So why add the confusing prefix? Oh well.) http://whelk.aims.gov.au/coralsearch/coral...alid_search.php Link to comment
reef n ale
Make that dimes and nickels Flo, no quarters! I still think echinata though... Rob Link to comment
