pal
The plan today was to move the tank off the old stand and onto the new stand. Clean out the reefing closet and start water changes. I immediately got distracted with my new reef brite. Hooked it up and couldn’t stand that it didn’t match my ati. So went to the auto store and bought vinyl wrap. Wrapped it and it came out ok.What a mess.New stand turned out not to be strong enough, quickly Jammed firewood underneath it to stop the bowing. Off to Home Depot for some wood to shore it up 5 Quote Link to comment

pal
Life finds a way!! Moving rocks around trying to cobble together some kind of scape and I’m amazed at what I found. I was sure everything in my tank was dead no bristle worms gsp survived neglect and tap water top offs for a year. Somehow this rfa survived along with a bivalve that tripled in size! pal
Needed more rock to scape the tank. Did a local fish store tour and didn’t see anything I wanted. So ordered 10 pounds of live rock from gulf reef live rock. It just arrived. I’m excited to see what hitchhikers came with it tonight I’ll feed the tank and watch. 3 2 Quote Link to comment
pal
This tank is keeping me busy. Had to re hang my light. Patched the old holes in the ceiling. Painted over the patch and the rest of the ceiling looked gross so I painted the whole thing. White ceiling made the walls look dirty so painted the walls. This guy stuck his head in a paint can. Also got some more stuff and have reached my budget. Love this site , thanks @jedimasterben for the diy coral snow recipe. 1 Quote Link to comment
Justind823
Looking good! I'm liking the reboot so far. That live rock looks like it has some goodies lurking inside. Any signs of critters yet? Btw I love those random flow generators! They work so well for just being a piece of plastic. Quote Link to comment

Thanks, have to admit I am a bit jealous of your new set up. Rfgs performance is so nice, I thought I liked my spin streams until I tried these . So much more flow Quote Link to comment
pal
Well turns out my pls50 elite skimmer pump is leaking voltage. I got a nice shock running it in a citric acid bath. Could not find a replacement pump. Got an icecap nano skimmer last night. First impressions out of the box was the pump looks comically small and cheap. Never judge a skimmer by its tiny pump though. Produces a lot more foam than my pls50. After running it last night it seems to have held the foam level and pulled out a decent amount of junk! So far I’m impressed, except for micro bubbles in the tank. Assuming those will go away after break in 2 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
IceCap makes pretty solid gear, finding replacement pumps for nano skimmers is a headache. 1 Quote Link to comment
pal
Primordial soup is cooking. I really am enjoying watching this live rock. The die off is slowing and stuff is starting to sprout. Also really impressed with this live sand somehow staying clean so far or it could be my improved flow. 2 3 Quote Link to comment
pal
This live rock is so packed full of critters! Last night I was looking with a flashlight and there is some kind of hitchhiker that is free swimming and is attracted to the flashlight, almost looks like fry. Could not get a clear photo. After some research I’m guessing epitokes? Found a video on YouTube. This is what they are. also Order from FarmerTy is scheduled for today! pal
This hobby is the opposite of relaxing at times. Csb anemone from FarmerTy arrived yesterday. Despite it being packaged really well it didn’t arrive looking good. Missing tentacles and gaping mouth. FarmerTy is a super good dude and offered to replace, we decided to give it a few days to see what happens, looks way better 24 hours later and might make it! 2 1 Quote Link to comment

So far I am really loving this skimmer. I have owned five skimmers so far . Skimmer 1 innovative marine pipeless skimmer/ complete junk. #2 Innovative ghost skimmer/ also completely useless.#3&4 cadlights pls50 and 50 elite/ both worked but required constant adjustment of water level. Skimmer 5 icecap nano so far is great makes a ton of foam and haven’t had to fiddle with it daily. Only drawback is air intake is kind of loud but doesn’t bother me. I for sure thought it was dead when I got it. Planning on adding a whole bunch of feature pieces if all goes well. Will be pestering you with questions about clams soon . I know nothing about them except I want one. 3 Quote Link to comment

pal
Cold and windy out so I did some tank stuff. Mounted a fan to the wall, glued almost all my zoa frags down without accidentally glueing them closed which I have done in the past and now am paranoid. In other news my ATI is acting funny channel one doesn’t want to stay on? Looked into buying a new fixture but just found out all 4 bulb ATI fixtures are discontinued. 1 Quote Link to comment
Nixperience
Maybe it’s time to streamline with some LEDs and you won’t need the fan either. 1 Quote Link to comment
