Bloomin' Tank of GeNRosity

Annette, your hair looks cute. I am letting some of my gray come in too although I probably am 10 years older than you.

Don't sweat the temperature, everything should be fine if you heat up slowly. Once my chiller controller malfunctioned and stuck on. The tank went down to 49 or even a little lower. I lost a damsel and 2 chromis but my clown, a firefish and 2 anthias and all the coral survived including my clam.

I hope the clam makes it! Your hair is wonderful.

Thanks!

It's 75 in the tank now. No harm to anyone it seems. Clam is open like normal. I still see all the nems. Plus my friend Randi found a couple on the back wall at the bottom at the substrate. Her eye sight is way better than mine.

I'm loving all the baby pictures, and I agree your hair looks great :)

I hope everything recovers from the overnight cold water!

It seems to be. One of the feathers had fallen in half but I've stood it up and bent it back. I think it's going to be fine now. I did give one of the leathers to my friend as I really had 2 of the same. The one that was sitting behind the green mushrooms, to the right of the grandis paly.

Wow, that is cold! That's really good to know. Speaking of clowns and fish. This is what I have decided. Since the clowns don't host the nem in the 10g I'm going to move them into the 40 along with the hawknose fish and blenny. The angel will go to the 10g w/ the shrimp. I worry too much about that angel nipping the small flowers and preventing the rose coral from growing.

Love the new pics and love your hair!

I appreciate that. Hope to continue with more and more pics. My friend brought over some cyclopeeze she'd had in her freezer and hadn't used and some hatched baby brine extra that she had from her jellies.. I'm going to feed tomorrow when everything is back at normal temperature.

It's now 80 finally the leathers that look like trees seem to have taken the most shock. The nepthea is good and by good I mean it's standing straight up. It didn't turn puffy today. The finger leather is perfect. The other 2 trees are bent over. I put one facing the other direction to lean onto the rock as it strengthens to support itself.

I can't wait to see another spawning. I know once the males have started it's pretty much clockwork. There was a regular cycle every so many weeks, just can't remember that part. Again, I'm wondering what kind of a blip this put into the males spawning hopefully.

Freaky deaky!

Really cool video captures FlowerMama, thanks for sharing them with us.

You're welcome Chris. I always enjoy showing them. Each time it happens it still amazes me.

I was wrong, I originally thought I had 5 more to go for gender naming, it's more than that come to think of it. So w/ this male spawning, that should place the female spawning 5.5 wks later hopefully, around Jan 12th, 3 days before my birthday.

Interesting thing- both male spawnings were on a Sunday.

Mine just spawned last night, too! I have one left in my tank of unknown gender. Never seen babies coming out of it, but also never seen it join in with the other 2 male anemones when they spawn.

Time will tell, it's the one that wasted away to a dime-sized disk a year or two ago.

So bizarre...the spawning!

Your hair looks great!!!! Such an awesome silver!!! Looks like you paid someone to do it that way :D.

I wonder if it was time to spawn again or the shock of the temp change caused it. I'll never know but I'm happy anyway. I hope I have visible growth of the babies before the next batch comes out so I can know from which spawning they came.

Thank You for the compliment. I love the way it's coming in. And I think I actually may look younger w/ this hair like this. It certainly slims my face more. It does look like someone highlighted it. The back is salt & pepper but that's getting more greys and less brown w/ each trim once a month. My last color was 2/21. Pretty sure I won't be fully transitioned by Feb 2017 but I just love my greys right now.

omgomgomg 5 BABIES HAVE BLOSSOMED !!! All white tentacles. One is orange and on the rock already with the pipeorgan. 2 yellows are on rock and I have 2 yellows or a white on the sand. Definitely think maybe only one spawned. I just fed again yesterday. Sorry, no pics as this stupid Samsung Galaxy does not even zoom and it won't focus. But regardless of my picture taking ability I AM HAPPPY!!!! :)

I'm really happy. I've waited so long to do this again. I'm hoping to see more tomorrow when I wake up.

I haven't been on much but this is awesome news. I only have 3 babies that have grown to a decent size, slightly larger than a quarter. The rest disappeared on me but hey I guess thats survival of the fittest/luckiest.

And here's the porn videos!

That one

I'm trying to get food directly to them. Trying the best I can because I hate the fact they disappear. That one you like turns more bluish/purple when it spawns.

I just fed yesterday brine, they were so tiny, just hatched from my friend. I separated it into 2 shot glasses and squirted it their way. I hope when they close on them they're getting some. You can see why I had to separate, still had more of the little cube and the shot glass was full. My friend Randi had to hatch for her jellies and gave me leftover, putting it in a plastic row of the cyclopeeze container. She only filled each one 1/3 of the way, it just made soooo much. I'm also just thrilled as other than the 1st row, the rest of the rows are cyclopeeze. I miss it. That was a nice gift.

Before I split it the brine.

Another option for super nutritious tiny food is golden pearls from Brine Shrimp Direct. They have a variety of sizes, but the 300-500 micron size is a fuzz larger than artemia nauplii :)

Thanks, I've never heard of it. I'll have to look it up. Luckily, I have at least the brine baby, oysterfeast, cyclopeeze, phytofeast.

And yet another option is decapsulated brine shrimp eggs - available at rip-off prices (but convenient, Dr G's, for example), bulk or DiY (in quantities larger than you'll use in a lifetime) via various online sources.

They're smaller than the hatched brine, are easy to baste onto whatever you want to feed and pretty concentrated. My fish also go nuts for them, plus just about any corals downwind.

So what's the difference between hatched brine shrimp eggs and decapsulated brine shrimp? All I know is she pays like $7 and it lasts a long time.

And time to carefully, after I buy gloves, frag some grandis paly for some locals. I have reading glasses I can use.

Once I moved it from the 20g to Nano Box it took off. The babies don't even have room to grow.
