no694terry
My office 15 gallon tank My first tank at beginning of thread crashed. I contribute it to excessive detritus buildup on rocks, poor flow pattern and lack of water changes. Although i have about a 70x water change flow rate, it was not efficient. The way i had rocks stacked int he column tank meant poor flow around them to keep them clean. The hole tank was a detritus trap. Combine with using old very rocks without cooking. The phosphates had the upper hand and i lost the GHA battle. At post #213, I took a video of the victor and began the tear down. I will be restocking the tank from dry, phosphate free rock and sand. no694terry
For fish, i only want one or two, maybe i'll put my clown from home in it, she's about 5 years old now, lost her mate a year ago, cant really give her a new mate so I may bring her here and get a new pair for home. 1 Quote Link to comment

A small juvenile of the same species should work. Quote Link to comment

The only fish i had was a yellow watchman goby. I also had one in my 90 gallon at home, i thought the two could coexist in the 90, but they couldn't. My home goby, stress my office goby, and that combined with the stress of moving, my office goby died a week later. Ever since then i dont like to introduce similar species unless at the same time Quote Link to comment
supertech99
Following I have the same tank, I have loved it but it can be challenging to find the right sized equipment/flow. I look forward to seeing your progress. Quote Link to comment
no694terry
what you see in post one is it. no more equipment, I believe in water changes over everything, and consistency, very slow changes and a very low bioload. Frequent water chages replace elements, remove nitrates, increase ph. Just about all good things. On my last 20l with a 15g sump, i tried the reactors, skimmers and stuff and only made it worse. oh, and NEVER use tap water. Phosphates are the enemy and very hard to remove wasnt introduced, they seep into the rock and sand and continue to leach out even with heavy water changes. Phosphates killed my old tank. the water at my office is terrible, so i only use water i bring in in bottles. for now its distilled, but soon i hope to add a RO/Di at home. Quote Link to comment

seabass
just assumed she would harass it since that tanks been "hers" for so long It shouldn't matter. Just make sure it's a small juvenile. She should be fine by herself; but if you want a pair, it should be very possible. Quote Link to comment

Marc.The.Shark
Nice. I have a tank with similar dimensions, although it's a cylinder. I really like the column style, have had mine for years. Quote Link to comment

What inverts do you plan on adding? not so sure yet, will start with some hermits and a reefcleaner cuc. i think i may need a heater, my sticky temp strip is still hovering around 67° Edit: Just ordered an Eheim Jager 50w Edit: the heater seems to kick on at 74 and off at 78, making a pretty swingy climate in there Quote Link to comment
no694terry
ok, after 3 stores for water and 37 rock rearrangements i think i'm ready to let it cycle...except for one rock, its too roundish. I'm gonna have to swap it out with another one from home. Quote Link to comment

no694terry
ya, i'm still looking, waters 18" deep so i'm looking for a good powered dimmable full spectrum, and in black. I'll look into that one you have though and see if it fits Quote Link to comment
no694terry
rock scaping is driving me NUTS!!! I cant get it right, the rocks are just a little too big for a column tank. And I'm at work so it's not like i can work on it til i like it, i can really only play with if i get here early or on my lunch break, and my boss just loves seeing my shoulder deep in a fish tank while i'm in my office, lunch or not. 1 Quote Link to comment
