Thanks, I'm pretty excited that I noticed the babies. We we're just getting ready to leave when I yelled "I need a net!  It's gonna be a while, I'm setting up a tank!"

Neo is the best  He curls up with me on the couch just about every night, and doesn't seem to mind when I use him as a table for my dinner plate  Or perhaps he's just too lazy to move

I'm already having a great time, I'm using my phone flashlight to read in the dark because I can't get enough of this fresh air!  And I'm not worrying about the tank because things seem to be improving :)

Kitty! Hope you get to have another 12 years with him!  Yay for baby labs!  And LOTR is one of my favorite books!

I just started it today, but I'm only a couple pages in.  I spent forever picking away at the foreword or whatever it was that described the repeated misprints in the various editions in excruciatingly boring detail.  But I felt like I couldn't skip it (yep, I'm one of those people :P).

 I have the kindle version and the best part is that when I encounter a word I'm not sure about, I can highlight it and the built in dictionary tells me what it means.  JRR had quite the expansive vocabulary!

Oh yeah, that man knew every word in the english language, and when he got bored with them he invented multiple entire languages just for the book!!!

Well I just got home. Looked in the tank with a flashlight. Everything is retracted because it's night, baby plates continuing to die :( I saw my radiant red Blasto on the sand was flipped, reached in to right it and wow the tank was warm!  The heater was off, but the tank was 85 degrees. Not good. My best guess for the spike is that the sitter closed the maintance door.  I chucked a bunch of stuff from the freezer in a ziplock and put it in the back, fingers crossed there's minimal damage.

I really hope I can post up some pictures of nice happy coral tomorrow for the tanks 2.5 year birthday. I seriously can't believe it's been that long!  I hope that things aren't so rocky for its 3 year b-day. 2 yrs was ich, 2.5 yrs alk and now temp spikes. Oi.

Ouch. Hope everything is all right. I had a tank spike this summer and only lost a few things. Fingers crossed!

(and wasn't it lucky that you stuck your hand in the tank to right that coral?)

Oh no! I hope your fast acting will have everything looking alright again.

I sure hope so!  I'm not sure how long it was like that, if it was from the maintance door being closed the temperature could have been up since Sunday.

Thanks, I'm hoping since my corals are used to the tank running 80-82 that the spike will have minimal effect.

fingerscrossed I think the things most likely to be impacted are the plates. A couple looked really rough last night. I guess I won't be selling them, perhaps I'll end up giving

half dead ones away for free.

How are the baby fish? That's really exciting. Sorry about all of your tank troubles. It's crazy how quickly things can go south. Hope to you get it back on track soon

They're alive!  They're so cute, I have a feeling that because they're my first I'm going to get attached and end up keeping them.  I'm curious to see how quickly they grow.

And thanks, it seems that just about everything did alright with the temp spike.  There will definitely be some happy tank pictures later!

I think I need to frag Frank.  I'm pretty sure the reason the lower heads won't open is shading.  Every head that gets adequate light is open and puffy.

Ha. I can't keep my hammer from growing. Every year I sell off a bunch of it and it just keeps growing. I'm due to frag some off again.IMG_3987.thumb.jpg.80c920d2a8777316abf1b2b6ab0a97a2.jpg

Your tank looks great!  And that hammer is huge!  I wish I could let Frank grow forever without fragging to see how big he'd get, but the shading of lower branches is problematic.  I'm kind of nervous to frag him, but I think it's time....maybe next week.

Time for a photo dump!  Things are looking decent :)  First off, an FTS with clean glass!

Right side.  I really need to put more coral on the sides of my tank.  Because I usually view from the front, I've neglected the sides... Not to mention the sides are pretty much vertical because I was trying to cram all 30lbs of rock in to make a giant rock blob when I set it up

My happiest blasto.  Not once was this green one fazed.  Most of the blastos are recovering and almost back to normal                                                                                                                    36303335272_11ef737bc1_k.jpgP8090535 by orb1915, on Flickr

And may I note that while writing this post I left water draining from my cichlid tank into a bucket and forgot about it.  Oops.  I caught it pretty quick at least.

Thanks for the compliment. Fragging was a cinch. Stems break off pretty easily.  But just be careful that you don't break off more than you want to. When it starts getting too big, it seems to get too heavy for itself and starts breaking.
