I AM ALIVE! i'm sorry i dropped off the

edge of the tank into the dark abyss of promoting

a new book and author + mother obligations.

these last few months have been CRAZY! but i am alive.

i did have some things die in tank though. :( including

the feather duster that was on a rock with dragon eye zoas.

that was sad.

i don't think i'll ever keep one again. i don't think my 8g, despite

supplements, had enough food for the beautiful creatures.

but i didn't want to surgically remove the rotting worm, so

the entire rock had to go. :( it was sad. as a result, i lost a lot

of GREENS in my tank. and due to what i had and some new

purchases, it is skewing super red and orange. i'm working on

changing that. my big green rfa has moved to the side back, so

that doesn't help. :)

my latest purchase was a neon green alvepora which i love

a lot. i had never seen it until ASD began to sell it. i had seen

the gonis. it is thus far thriving in tank. wish me luck!

sideview of my orange and red dominant tank. :)

beautiful neon green alves.

and this is a foto of me and a reader at my launch party.

she read my first books as a HS student, and now, five years

later, she's a senior in uni! it was very sweet of her to come.

if anyone is a reader and likes fantasy or just wants to support, here's

a link to amazon for my book. :)

aww thanks sancho! <3

i think 12 is a good age, depending on the the kid.

definitely by 13 or 14. i have readers as young as 11

and retired. ha!

Cindy, we haven't heard from you in forever - how are things going?

i'm still here! thanks for checking in on me, john!

i'm afraid i fell into the rabbit hole of back to school and promoting

a book out. i've traveled to atlanta, austin, LA... one more LA trip

and minneapolis later this year.

tired!!

trying to get the word out as much as i can about the book.

small press means you have to work that much harder. :)

Excited for you :)

The flower pot looks beautiful, hope it does well for you!

i'm not sure how challenging they are. though i heard

that gonis can be more difficult? but thank you!

it was an impulse buy, of course. those always turn

out so well too. /sarcasm

ha!

Yay, I'm glad you're alive and doing so well! The new alveoporas are very pretty and add a nice contrasting color to the tank.

Thanks for the link to the book, I just ordered a copy for Kindle. We have to support our NR authors! And I love chinese fantasy. And for the record I don't think any age is too old for good YA titles. I still re-read many of my favorites from my teenage years :)

hahah! john, thank you! and you are rad! :flower:

that is very true about YA. it's not the young adult

i grew up with. lots of great books within YA. and

they are repackaging SFF classics like Ender's Game

as YA these days.

The Outsiders, of course, is a classic that comes to mind.

And i'm not sure what Lord of the Flies is classified as,

but i'd call that YA in this day and age. the first dystopian

on an island? :D

Sizsup Cindy! Waaaawhoooo!

WHAAAAATY DRAMA D!!!!! B)

As have I, though I believe the care is similar. I always hear about gonis doing well at first but slowly withering away after a few months so I've never bothered with em  if the alveopora does well for you though I might look into it!

And yeah, I suggest planning what you'd like first and doing the research but sometimes you just see the perfect piece at the LFS (I know the feeling) Sometimes I do my research right there in the store on my phone  Do you get all your coral from aqua SD?

yes, i did some phone research and asked

the person there. and yes, i do get most of my

corals from ASD. i knew size was okay--but it IS

larger than i thought in the corner. so pretty though.

the ASD person told me to feed oyster feast, which

is what i do for the tank anyway.

fingers crossed. eep!

Nice, that's good to hear. If you see any RFAs let me know :P I'm trying to find some for my "big" tank but I can't really find any local ones anywhere aside from the common reds and greens..

i couldn't resist getting a new cynarina coral!

i had been eyeing them at ASD but never bought,

and when i had room in tank, they were all gone.

i spotted a green one from solomon islands over

at unique corals and decided to get it. their customer

service is super great, and they package their shipments

well too. the $15 next day shipping for CA is huge bonus.

it is two inches big and the site warned to give it space

to expand. so i called to see how much more it'd expand, and

the guy said maybe 1/2 inch. well, i'm pretty sure at it's biggest,

it was near 3 inches.

RUH ROH.

my tank isn't that big, as you all know.

when it arrived, it was small and looking decidedly brown.

i emailed unique and they told me to give it some time.

DAY 1 after removing from box:

cynarinaday1.jpg

and today, i was happy to see it looked greener. and at its blobbiest,

it got pretty big!! :o

cynarinaday2a.jpg

and finally another foto today when it grew a little smaller.

i love this little coral so much! it has such bubbly personaliy. :D

i hope it gets even greener as it adjusts to my tank.

thank you, GENA! it is great to be back!

i might disappear again, but i am always hobbying! ha!

not able to enjoy it as much when traveling a lot and on

deadline, but enjoying this short break while i can. :D

Awesome! I love the color .

Legendary Coral also does the cheaper California shipping :).

it isn't next day for $15 though, right? that really is a great deal!
