Great tank Cindy, I love little shroomish tanks, sorry I missed this one.

Those Yumas are mean, I also have an Acan that lost 3 heads to a little yellow one I have and then after I moved it the little thing attacked a bubble tip anemone and I had to save it. :) It was sucked under some rocks but has re-appeared behind the anemone, probably planning another attack. :D

thanks mark!! yes, i really love mushies, and

i'm defaulting to them as i've had disasters with

other types (not even SPS!) but i might return to

some after i'm less gun shy.

someone else mentioned how aggressive yumas can

be. my large one is stretching high to the lobo, but

the lobo isn't bothered yet. it is on its on frag and has

not gotten off, which is a blessing. but it does stretch BIG

when it wants to.

The Yumas are very prolific in my tank. The Floridas, I have never had any luck with. I never bought my green/purple Yumas they were baby hitch hickers on some live rock and now the cover about 90 percent of the rock in my tank. Its strange the Yumas I paid good money for have not made any babies. I hate to do it but I have to thin down the Yumas as they are killing stuff I paid good money for. I think it is time for both of us to get a bigger tank. I am liking the 12 long or possibly the 20 long. The new stand I made for the 8 will accommodate a new bigger tank.....dont tell my wife ;)

yikes! but sometimes, you have to do it for the

good of the tank. sucks that you lost your expensive

shrooms too. :(

i vote 12g long. with all my author obligations, i can't

see myself upgrading any time soon. i shall live

vicariously through you! ha

Love the babies.

Yes, Yumas are very aggressive and pack a strong sting. I had a chalice frag fall on a yuma for a few seconds and basically killed half of the frag. Be careful with placement.

the purple peony rhodactis i got from unique corals is doing

really well! so are the three florida rics from ASD--

though i had hoped they'd be more blue. alas, they

are mostly neon green.

so busy but NOT writing. alas. comic con this weekend.

have two book panels i'll be on.

purplepeony.jpg

i love the baby yumas too, john!

i'm pretty sure there are THREE now! and they seem

to be growing fast. i will look at them again, and when

significant change, i'll update with a photo.

fascinating there are two whites and a purple one though! :D

WOW...nice pick right there :)

HarryPotter

Two whites and a purple, that's AWESOMENESS.

Who know?!?! Maybe you have a rare morph that'll be worth thousands of dollars! (Or just be exceptionally beautiful)

:) good luck! :)

chinese inspired fantasies!

lots of demons, immortals, the underworld... :)

fantasy is my favorite genre!

haha! thanks! i doubt it, but it's nice to have three

babies. though mama is such a stretchy monster, we'll

see what happens with the babies!

WOW...nice pick right there :)

i'm very happy with it! thank you!!

she seems happy.

Love the babies.

yikes. it is just stretching to the receding lobo a lot.

maybe i'll budge it a little?

I love the color .

me too. can't go wrong if it's named "peony"! :D

hello friends! well, the GOOD news is

that i survived comic con! i even sold TWO
hardcovers after a panel one day. haha! the life

of an author unless you are lead title. it is tough.

(what is lead title? think about the books you have

heard of, likely to have been made into a movie.)

anyway, MONSTER yuma continues to be monstrous.

it is on a bitty frag and keeps STRETCHING. i've had to

move the agaves out of its way. it is so naughty and aggressive.

it got one of my candy cane heads. as you can see. poor thing.

both heads were thriving. i'm hoping it'll recuperate, cause the

other had died by half, and came back.

yumastretch.jpg

the baby yumas (going to grow into monster yumas? yikes!)

are thriving as well. they are definitely growing. and there are

definitely THREE. TWO white ones. if you look close, you can find

two mouths.

wilma, as shy as she can be, loves to photobomb as much as fred

did. RIP fred.

crazy thunder storm yesterday and right now

the rain is coming down hard here. we need it!

here is a 10.5 months FTS. hard to believe we're

coming onto a year in my little 8g crowded as hong

kong tank. ha! everything is doing well except my poor

lobo. i just could never feed it well. :( i don't think i do the

stony skeletal corals well at all. though the mini lobo is doing

fine--but it hasn't grown. thankfully, has not receded either.

candy can coral head that got toasted by the monster yuma

i'm hoping might recover?

i had to rubber band big red mushie down today. it came

off it's frag and is just too dangerous and unpredictable. i've

rubber banded her to the rock slice and stuck her in the same

position as you see in the shot.

also, i had to stick in the wave pump as the one that came with

the tank was beginning to act wonky. and i didn't want to deal with

having to try and get it to work all the time etc. though not as pretty,

i like the flow of this better.

FTS10months.jpg

here is a close up of the st. thomas blue mushie (i think?)

that i got from unique coral. i moved it to below the feather

and it seems happy there. it is super bubbly and has a skirt

that it spreads out at night. :)

happy mushies garden! :D

Looks great! IME Yuma's and Florida's don't get along to well. I would give them a bit more space. If you need to unload the lobos I will give them a good home in my 34. ;)

My Yumas and Floridas like to cuddle and seem to do better right next to each other.

The St. Thomas shrooms on the other hand have been shown to sting Ricordea, so definitely keep that sucker isolated.

Sexy! But half of them look like Yumas. The 3 on the left are Floridas and are much smaller. My Yumas and Floridas did fine together for awhile but the Yumas eventually grew bigger and would overtake the Floridas. You have a nice collection :) When that big green and orange one make babies I would love to have one.

Thanks. Yeah, for sure, if I get some babies would be willing to give some out. That big orange Yuma was given to me as a gift after it had 5 babies, they kept the babies and have me the big momma.

a similar orange is for sale at ASD. i've not

pulled the trigger so far. but i love me some yumas.

agree, that green one is stunning!

my current is pretty aggressive but has not moved off

its frag entirely yet. i hope it stays there. this way, i can

budge it easily without it smothering anything.

your mushie garden is beautiful, doc!!

Cindy, just catching up with your tank after not seeing it for awhile. Very nice. I like the direction you are taking it in with the Yumas and such. Lots of color and texture to enjoy. Good job!

thank you, vlangel! "direction". more like, what can

i buy that i won't likely kill? MUSHROOMS! ALL THE MUSHIES.

:lol::lol:

but i finally feel like the tank is settling down.

i'm happy.

wilma the purple fire fish is doing great too.

i unrubber banded Big Red because she looked miserable.

hopefully she stays put in her little crevice and puts her foot down.

Whoa, how did I miss that peony rhodactis? So gorgeous! your shroom garden.

i bought the purple peony and blue st. thomas a while back.

my first purchase from unique corals. i was very pleased with

the transaction as well as the quality of the shrooms! :D

you crack me up, sancho. you are like the swap

meet dude of corals. <3 if i ever got anything to give

up, i'll holler.

Cindy....it's looks spectacular..I LOVE it!!!!! I can't believe you are almost at a year already omgomgomg. Time flies!!!!!

i know! and i think i have honestly run out of space.

i was also tempted by another clown goby last visit to ASD.

but i sort of like it just being wilma, kind of like my only fish child? ha!

and the sexies are still doing great. though i read their life spans are

about 2 years, and they are at least one year old. they started in

the 3g with me as wee ones.

time does fly!!

hope you are well!!
