cindyp
She is beautiful Cindy!! I know you said you paint just for yourself, but is there a way I can convince you to paint something for my fish nook?!? NO. hahaha sorry. i've turned down commissions, and one for a tattoo (dear god no!) and also a book cover commission for a reputable publisher. and i say this because i don't want to make art a business (writing is already that) but also, because after...14 years of learning, i'm still not good enough where i can guarantee i can paint something upon request. ha! but thank you! i'm glad you like her! an older brit friend called her a "glamourpuss". made me chuckle. owenj
jaime, i think this is SO exciting! and i took TWO novel writing classes while i was working on my debut. will this novel be speculative fiction? *excited* and again, so sorry about the clam. our misadventures indeed. I loved the writing classes (mostly), and it led to me finding a great critique group, so no complaints here.Yep, the novel will be spec fic. Fantasy is basically my comfort zone Link to comment

teenyreef
friends, i thought i'd share my latest brush painting. i finished her on the lunar new year! (which was last thursday--but i'm still on deadline so haven't had time to upload this yet.) i love painting chinese beauties, and when i saw her in a book, i just fell in love with her attitude. i'd like to think that even if she's wrapped in furs, she can chuck that giant pot of plum blossoms at someone if necessary. sequel is due March 1st, which is THIS sunday, friends. where does the time go? thank you! hopefully sooner rather than later. This needs to come to the new page. I love this painting, and I love that you paint strictly for the love of doing it Link to comment
cindyp
thank you, john! i love painting a lot, i call it Art Therapy. a little annoyed at the roaming RFA, who has indeed taken a large bite out of my pretty legendary corals mushroom. just happened this morning. so i had to move it and the trumpets just in case. at least it seems settled where it is now though. the mushroom looks like it got a bit taken out of it, but ah well. it seems open and okay now too. It could be an interesting experience. I mean, commissioned work. Of cause it's not why you are passionate about painting. But, seeing art from a bit different perspective might be worth a try. As a side note. I designed/draw %90 of my ink. Remaining %10 I am not really a fan of. Link to comment
cindyp
TGIF, friends! i sent my sequel into my editor today! yippeee! in celebration, i went to buy a shroom for myself. was told it is a skittles shroom from vietnam? it was more golden at ASD, but seems to skew green under my own light. this was a smaller one and the one he showed me wasn't attached, so couldn't buy. but i saw this little guy hiding beneath a bigger--and he was attached to a rubble piece. my purple and green legendary corals shroom has fully recovered from RFA sting. teenyreef
Congratulations on finishing the revision! And the new mushroom looks great. I love the dendro in the background like a big volcano, and the mushrooms in the foreground like molten lava Link to comment

Shops I get my corals from are great, but shrooms are not their forte. You can add more. Good thing about shrooms is that they make great canvas for less appealing parts of our tanks. Link to comment

But if you ever find yourself with too many at home and don't know what to do with one... I'm just looking for something cool and unique to put on my wall. Your shrooms are such pretty colors!! owenj
Love the new shroom, Cindy! And yay on getting your sequel turned in! The YA fantasy market is pretty great; I still re-read the books I grew up with (Tamora Pierce, Patricia C. Wrede). I really need to read some of Diana Wynne Jones. I hear you on the art therapy! I dabble with soft pastels, though not in a while due to lack of time. But, a friend of mine heard about it and was like, "oh, paint something for the cover of [law journal name]." I didn't. She still wants something for her law office. Link to comment

Yea, I'm a bit over the urban fantasy dystopian future deal tbh. But it sells, and is popular for movies so there you go. If it gets people reading then a win is a win Howl's Moving Castle is on my wish list. More of a "when I have the time" list, which is getting frighteningly long . I do love the movie though. I'll have to look up Turner's stuff. So many books, no time! I barely seem to be making the time to feed the coral Link to comment
cindyp
a couple of fotos from tonight at dusk: my ultra nem, after doing a walk about on this entire rock, has been situated in this corner ever since i got her. and she's most definitely grown in size, i think? the RDE doing their thing on the rock that has the big duster. you can see the wandering nem, who is settled now, i hope. and i had move the LC mushroom and trumpets out of his way.
