That is not a ricordea florida, its a rainbow ricordea yuma! Those never go that cheap, I don't care what shop you shop at. As for fla rics for $7-15, I can agree jedi, but not yumas.

That Yuma is off the chain !!! Living Reef has a boatload of $5-$20 yuma's of all colors. I need to stop slacking and just set up a 'shroom tank :D

$20?!! No way! :o

Incredible ric.

That's what I said. I saw it in person last night and its even nicer than the pic!

Thanks guys! It's getting prettier by the day.

The inspiration is hitting me hard with this build, amazing look. What are you running in the canister?

Just a sponge and some carbon. Anything else would make it a nitrate bomb. Seems to be working ok.

I guess I'm a bit spoiled here, all the LFS around me buy ricordea by the gross and sell them for $7-15 :)

If you can get rainbow yumas with 5 or 6 colors for $7-15 I'll take em all! Double my money in no time ;)

My buddy basically gave it to me at his price. Rainbows yumas like that can easily bring 3 times what I paid. Heck, if you post it on reef2reef the dummies over there will spend $100.00 on it!...lol...some vendor posted some rainbow rics last week. They were all 80-120 and were sold out in a day :o

Shroom tanks are awesome. Living reef def does not have 15 dollar yumas though. Like randy said, maybe ricordea florida, but not ricordea yuma. Hell last time I was there they had a rock with 4 yumas on it and were asking 230.00. How that place stays in business with their prices amazes me. My Yuma is also not one solid color, it is rainbow and is getting more colorful by the day. It's got green, yellow, purple, pink, blue, and some orange spots are coming in now too.

They may not have rainbows in the front frag tank, but there's a orange/yellow Yuma in the $5 section and in the $10 section there's a greenish and yellow one, there is also a huge selection of Rics too me and Shaun were talking about them. And down at the one end ($40 section) there's a purplish white Yuma that's the size of the palm of my hand,I promise they are there lol.

Not sure who Shaun is, but that's good! Sounds like they are actually trying to move coral now. That store has so much potential, but such poor coral selection. Especially if your into sps, or high end pieces. Hands down they have the nicest store setup, just not the best prices or coral and fish selection.

The recent maricultured peices that Pancho got in Bali are ok. Good size pieces, and some held color very well! Just not anything mind blowing.

Has the short skinny spanish guy. He's always in there, especially on the weekends. They don't have big name pieces, but they have A LOT of colorful pieces.

Living Reef has been better on prices and are trying to make better deals I suppose. Like this weekend I got 4 frags for $30. 2 of the mille frags were like 2" frags and honestly could have been chopped up to make 4 frags. Both are super nice.

Any store can sell "run of the mill" cheap frags. There is always going to be people in the hobby who want the cheap stuff. Everyone has to start somewhere in this hobby! Buying LE or high end peices would not be smart for a beginner. That store in my opinion though COULD be the best store in orlando. Notice how I said COULD...lol...I'm glad they treat you right and you find some nice coral!!

I can attest to this first hand. When I first starting in the hobby in January, I was very much a beginner. I shopped at Living Reef exclusively. But, after a couple months of buying coral and looking online, I started to realize that they just did not have as nice of stuff as some of the other stores in the area. Also, I realized that even though they were cutting me deals because I we a repeat customer, I could still get things even cheaper elsewhere, and that was for coral that was as good, and most times, better. I still go back from time to time to browse, mostly because of the location(my wife loves to shop at Waterford) and because I still know most of the guys that work there. But, honestly, I have not bought a piece of coral there in probably 6 months. Every time I go in, they either don't have anything that catches my eye, or want WAY too much money for what does catch my eye.

And I agree with Alex 110% regarding the fact that they have the most potential out of all the stores in the central florida area. They COULD be the best shop in Orlando, if they stocked some better LE coral and at more realistic prices. The have the backbone for it down: 100% the best location in Orlando, with 100% the most inviting and beautiful shop. I mean, who else has nothing but Reef Savy displays and holding tanks??? This in itself makes me beg to see more LE coral when I am in the store....best possible equipment for a LFS, with mediocre livestock and outrageous prices?!?! Maybe they are working in that direction, but they still have a ways to go.

I guess it boils down to what you like/want really. If you like/want high end Zoa's and and SPS's ,Top Shelf is the place. If you want decent colors and pieces without the fancy names Living Reef is your place. I have ass loads of pieces from both, they both treat me well,so regardless I'm not complaining. They both have their own flaws as does any shop.

Back on topic,do you plan on stocking any more LPS or anything or you staying on the mushie path for now ?

Hey man, don't get me wrong, I am not trying to bash Living Reef, they are a great shop. I just see A LOT of unused potential.

Not sure yet. Been toying with the idea of a upgrade. 22x20x9 shallow tank with a mame overflow.

Interesting size....should be nice. Gonna stick with the canister filter? Bare bottom again?

Nah. I would sump it and run my pls-100

It would almost be a cube. I also was thinking 24x20x9 and use my t5 parts to put a mini hybrid on it! For now the tank is happy, I just wish I had a little more room.

Alex, where do you get your RR frags from? A store, local seller or the internets?

A little bit of everything. I've gotten some stuff direct from Tony at RR USA , local buddies who have reefraft stuff, and other vendors.
