Super sucks, offered the guy $500 cash so he wouldnt be a little shit and he was still a little shit. Mind you he drives a pick up so there was literally $90 worth of damage to his car IF that. A while back I was in a minor accident where a girl in a little Cobalt changed lanes into me. It was at about 6:00 in the morning before the sun came up but I drive a big truck so how she didn't see me is still a mystery to me. Anyway, there literally wasn't a scratch on my truck. My tires stick out about 2" so when she veered into me my tire made contact first and for lack of a better term, kinda skinned her car. It was like someone took a giant circular sander to the side of her car. Her paint was all messed up and her mirror was gone. We both immediately pulled over and she was extremely apologetic. After looking over my truck and not seeing any noticeable damage I decided to not make a big deal of it and told her I didn't see any reason to make a report or anything. Then when I got back in my truck my allignment was waaaaaay off. I had her pull back over and we called the police so a report could be made. Already long story short, the under carriage on my truck was torn up pretty bad. Had I just let her go and not made a report it would have been on me to cover the repairs. Which if IIRC, was about $3k. So just because you can't see any damage doesn't mean it's not there. Again, I'm glad you're ok, that's what's really important. We pay high insurance premiums every month so that they can worry about cleaning up our messes, don't sweat it . It likely won't even affect your rate if you don't do stuff like this often. A long time ago I dropped a drink in the car while driving and the person in front of me stopped as I was picking it up. I ran right into a car full of little 16 year old girls on their way to the beach (it was spring break). My insurance rate didn't go up a penny. The funny part is that it wasn't even my car, nor did I actually know the person that owned it. I was driving it for a friend of a friend, while she (owner of the car) was passed out drunk in the passenger seat. I felt terrible about the whole thing so I helped her get it to the shop, get a rental, etc... Ironically, I knew the service manager at the dealership (he was a regular at the bar I was working at) and he thought the girl was cute so I introduced them. They are now married and have 3 kids together. I should probably clarify, the drink that I dropped was just a Dr. Pepper. I stopped for some tacos to try to get the drunk girl to eat a little before we went back to the beach. Link to comment
