Justind823
Ah I had some but it died in the move up to NorCal. At least I haven't seen it since. How's the tank doing? Oh I got the sponge from cal3v if that helps. I'm pretty sure he's in San Diego and it did fine with priority shipping 1 Quote Link to comment
gena
Sorry all for the lack of appearance on here! Finally have some more time on my hand to get back on the forum Random question: where can I get Collospongia auris in Socal area Hey...welcome back Crazy cuz I was just watching your youtube video of your trimma gobies yesterday!!!!! And here you are . I just saw a blue/purple photosynthetic sponge on PYA's website. Not sure if it's the same thing you are looking for or not? But they are local. http://shop.philyouraquarium.com/product/pya-ppss-purple-photosynthetic-sponge 1 Quote Link to comment
xcom
The tank is still pretty much the same, my gobies died dues to old age I believe. I haven't got any new and the tank is fish-less at the moment. I just did a major sand bed replacement the other day, and look like I'm losing a small branch of the yellow gorg. I will try to take some pics and post them up. BUT THEN, I'm up to no good hahahaha I might do another pico or upgrade mine to a mini M.......... hint: blue sponge. The Nano Box fan died........ Wondering if anyone know how to take those things apart and replace the fan. I'm interested in the Kessil 160 Tuna Blue, any reviews from nano reef member here? Is it a yay or nay? Gotta get them touched up. 2 Quote Link to comment

Red_Blenny
There's a guy in SD who is selling a purple/blue photosynthetic sponge who goes by the user name Calreef18 in the local Socal Reef forum for $15: 4 Quote Link to comment

xcom
i know youre here somewhere. lets get an update Bwahahahahaha..... yes I am back. Not much of an update except my canister gave out yesterday so I took a plunge and get an mp10 for xmas..... I'm debating if I want to upgrade this tank to a Mini M or save my $$$ for a Reefer Nano and go big again. Side note: just other some plating dry rock, I will do a major re-scape for new year. Maybe pics to follow? 2 Quote Link to comment
xcom
External filter gave out before xmas. I decided to get a MP10.....Also ordered flat cut key largo and re-aquascaped. Going from Bommie to this: This tank is having a total makeover.... My question is.... Will this consider a "new" tank? Because I want to jump on that "every other year TOTM" track 4 Quote Link to comment
4x5
I think a total new layout can be considered a new build. Looking forward to seeing more. 2 Quote Link to comment
xcom
This is what the re-scape looks like dry. *low res phone pic, couldn't find my camera* I'm into layering now. 3 Quote Link to comment

xcom
Way cool! You are such an aquascape artisan . Will you have some "trees" at the top-most rock? Yup! that where I will place my gorgs back in. Here is a crappy iPhone 4 phone pic of half-stocked tank. I promise that it looks hotter in person . The wall used to be white, I painted it black making it's a bit tricky with (phone) photography. The tank currently going through a mini diatom (as expected for big change), most of the stocks are not coming back in until things are settling down. I have no fish at the moment, my pair of mated red spotted trimma died after 3 years I had them I'm thinking of either getting a mated neon goby pair or gold eviota or red spotted gobies.... Should I make a poll for this 2 Quote Link to comment
gena
I have no doubt it looks fantastic . Interesting change to a black painted wall which I'm sure also is fantastic looking . 3 years is the normal life-span so great job there! 1 Quote Link to comment
DaveFason
This could be VERY cool. A few favias, micros, and encrusting montis. Oh man.... Glad to see you return! xcom
Does anyone have experience with branching coralline algae? Is there a specific requirement for them beside high light + flow + Cal? This could be VERY cool. A few favias, micros, and encrusting montis. Oh man.... Glad to see you return! oh It will still be ricordea dominated with the exception of some macro recently added in the tank. I'm waiting to see if I like the way they turn out after the rics come back in. I think instead of minimal bommie look, I will try to make it looks as "cramp" as possible I have no doubt it looks fantastic . Interesting change to a black painted wall which I'm sure also is fantastic looking .3 years is the normal life-span so great job there! Yup I painted the whole hallway where the tank sits black LOL, it looks like a cave but it does make the tank stand out. 2 Quote Link to comment
Red_Blenny
I vote mated pair neon gobies and I'm glad to see that you're around updating your tank. Btw, can't wait to see some ricordea porn pics. 1 Quote Link to comment

I don't want them to melt away. I have been debating if I should do a mini M upgrade....... on the other hand, I love how compact the mini S looks. Quote Link to comment

Most of the time, I used to run my mp10s on Nutrient Transport Mode or Tidal Swell Mode at 50-60%.... But then I started to keep discomas and I'm forced to keep it around 10-20%. Yes, I still run t5s (24w 3X kz royal blue, 1x ati coral+) that's ~5" away from the surface of the tank. I'm planning on raising the fixture though cause I'm keeping discomas but I'll bring it back down once the discosomas are used to it. And dude, I was planning on getting a mini S for my low flow discosomas that don't like the high flow/light because of the compact reasons lol.... But the mini M is nice since its taller and might fit your tall micros better. 1 Quote Link to comment

The other modes cause micro bubbles after few hours which is unfortunate. The current diatom bloom is not getting any better..... I haven't had diatoms for years which is driving me nuts (impatient mode). The more annoying thing is I don't really know what caused it. The only thing I did differently this time is my source of dry rock . I'm not sure if this is an opportunity for me to remove my sand bed and leave it at 1/8" thick for visual pleasure. 1 Quote Link to comment
xcom
*command z* I think it's dino (again), not diatom bloom. Quote Link to comment

I got a mp10 shield you can take if you're in the Dodger Stadium/Atwater area. I no longer use it anymore; I just move my mp10 a bit lower to deal with the bubbles. *command z* I think it's dino (again), not diatom bloom. Maybe you're still in cycling mode; those new rocks probably don't have those beneficial bacteria that was from your old scape. Quote Link to comment
