'full-spectrum' and Kessil don't go together. Kessil barely uses any white LEDs except in the 'Amazon Sun' line of their pendents. The white LEDs they do use emit almost no light above 500nm.
So what does that mean Ben? Corals will pop but not grow?

Claytong, EddieCorrea and buddythelion have grown their frags/corals to colonies under the 15k ocean blue kessils though, and it's like 70-80% blues imo.

So I am a bit confused as to how it's not full spectrum but is able to grow corals in a respectful way.

I only had 29 teeth to start with is that uncommon? I had 1 wisdom that I had pulled and 2 other back ones from to much candy. Then I broke my 2 front teeth off in a BMX accident. They fixed my front ones at 15 but by 19 they had to be removed because they were loose. I have had a partial for 15 + years. I have thought about getting 2 implants and the rest of the top and bottom ones veneered or what ever the #### you call it :).

Also Dr Love is that a 24" dimmable on the smaller tank?

Yes it is ... U can disable the dimming feature if u want .... I like the dimmable fixtures as they have built in controller and a single cord ... Really clean

There are lots of options for ur grill man... Lots

I had the 6 bulb 48" dimmable ATI sunpower and loved it. Once I went back to the cube I sold it. Looking forward to another one ;). I wish we had cool dentist around here like you. My regular dentist is a turd and the specialist he refers people to is straight laced and can't take a joke. Going to the dentist for most people is nerve racking it would be nice if they cut up with you.

Same here, well I started out with kessils, then ai nano sols, then buildmyleds(purple lighting), and now I'm going back to kessils lol.

I just bought the same light as this guy, a150w 15k ocean blue and it's really blue. I probably should've gone 20k deep ocean blue for that full spectrum actinic look but I screwed up...

Looks blue enough though.

Still don't like them. ;)

Hmm that's interesting then I mean how are corals growing and thriving so well under the 15k or 20k then? It must be full spectrum somehow in the light to be able to have that growth ability.

So what does that mean Ben? Corals will pop but not grow?

Growth happens across the entire visible light spectrum, 400-700nm and it is really only necessary to provide the proper intensity to corals, with distributed intensity (not point-source like most LED arrays that use tight lenses) trumping point source for total growth mass addition.

'Full-spectrum' was coined from the addition of different colored emitters to make up for the lack of color provided by cool white/royal blue LED arrays, and really don't add anything to growth unless you're also adding intensity.

Kessils are the archenemy

Lol you just don't like actinics, period. ;)

Funny I actually run my tanks pretty blue ... The sps has four blue plus, one purple plus and one coral plus

So in simpler words, you're saying the kessil a150w has higher and proper and distributed intensity and that is why it's able to grow corals so well?

Let me translate... LEDs bad - t5's good

Oh.. so it's like a 70% blue look then? That's kinda close to the kessil a150w ocean blue 15k I suppose but I would rate those kessils 70-80% blues. Sheeeiiizzz.

That doesn't make sense though, Kessil leds have been proven to have superb success with corals, especially sps. So leds are good but t's are better is more like the interpretation.

Uh, no. Kessils are very extreme point-source and do poorly in comparison to even other LED fixtures, much less versus T5 and metal halide with even decent reflectors. Lower intensity across the entire coral yields much more growth potential than 500 PAR hitting one square inch and 100 PAR on the square inch beside it.

Distributed light is best, doesn't matter what the source is, all light make the same kind of light.

Better than these goddamned Giesemanns. These things are turds.

Blue plus in the back, Coral plus in the front.

IMG_20140530_225104667.jpg

That combo looks like shit though, since the front half of the tank is white and the back half is blue, there is clear separation of the light from each bulb.

Oh, looks like those were the first two pics of that new light... feel special ;)

I have to ask. Ben did you take pictures of the light/tank with a phone while the other camera sat idle?
 I wondered the same and also wondered why in the #### he always wears jeans in Florida.

Those first bulbs suck looks like a freshwater tank.

A bag of dicks is what it looks like lol

Phone auto uploads to Picasa for me, camera takes a lot of work, plus I'm not done taking pics yet :)

I have to for work and then just forget about them sometimes when I get home if I have something to do :)

If your taking more pics under those bag of dick lights save some space on your Picasa account.

Oh no, those are going in the trash unless somebody wants to pay shipping on them. $47 down the drain.

Yeah, I've been to florida before and it's freaking hot over there!!

I don't agree with you. I would say the kessils is one of the best leds out there. It's definitely better than ai sols or nano sols, buildmyled, ecoxotic leds, etc. It performs as well as maxspect, nanobox, ecotechs imo.

Kind of makes me wonder how u would know ... Didn't your mom tell you not to play with your poo ...

It lives ... Very nice Ben ... Go with two blue plus ... U can balance out the blue with the LEDs down the middle

Sorry for taking over your thread Love :)

I like it ... Keep it coming buddy
