Sorry Roger.  What the hell happened?

katropora fell into the bubble coral sometime last night. When my parents woke up to check on the tank they saw cloudy water and a bunch of bone white SPS. Not sure if they're bleached or it was necrosis.

well, ####.

Yup.

As far as I know most LPS and the monti's are doing fine. Nems are furious, I really hope they don't start walking around. That'd be a nightmare.

Actions taken so far:

50G water change (which is roughly 40% vol)

2x carbon

Raised T5 fixture 6" (I'm not sure if this will help, but it seems like blasting light during a time of stress isn't a good idea)

So sorry to hear this. What did u mean by "fell"? It wasn't attached/encrusted well?

how are other corals doing? Mainly affected SPS?

between you and @HarryPotter, it seems like two of my fav totm's are hitting major road bumps.

I moved the coral in December and loaded it with super glue and epoxy, I wasn't around to see if it encrusted or not. I think it did, but the coral just got too big and during cleaning it got bumped accidentally and it broke off. Then it was at the whim of the flow and fish.

Most/all of the corals affected were my acropora sps, which were all doing really well before hand.

Yeah road bump. Its so weird, its just some colonies and bottom up. Trying to reset the tank via water changes but it doesn't look that good.

Thanks for the condolences guys.

Update:

The kat still has polyps, I think it may just be bleached, but man I don't see it coming back from this....

Nems are all still closed.

Hammer, frogspawn, bubble all closed.

but the GSP looks aight. So i got that going for me at least.

35570839392_69861e7706_b.jpgmy soul hurts by Roger Klein, on Flickr

luckily I have a smaller piece of katropora on the opposite side of the tank, I'm not sure how it's doing though. Probably a goner too.
