They mow corals down too though don't they?

I feed the tank once every other day. A mix of rod's food and nutramar ova (for the mandarin).

I have had 4 or maybe 5 in my 29 gallon quite a while ago. Would but them at about 2.5 inches and return for store credit at about 3.5 inches. Got them to do away with my Caulerpa problem. They were perfect for the job, never saw one of them touch a coral. Kept them fed when they would mow down the algae with some algae sheets also. I would get one and it would clean the tank and I would turn it in. . But then the nature of Caulerpa is that it grows back with just the smallest pc. of it left around. Get another and so on. Finally after turning in the last one no more grew back. I sure that is also a result of me starting to vodka dose at that time too but I tell ya man those fish were voracious with the algae.

Video looks awsome V! Did you end up modding your ato? I have a 20l with a remora nano as well and was looking at adding an ato prob from autotopoff. Is your hose glued to the skimmer?

Yeah I have a little hook glued to the skimmer which keeps the return hose aimed into the overflow box. I didn't mod the ATO, it's just the JBJ and there's a 3 gallon jug with a hole drilled in the cap underneath the tank in the cabinet.

never saw one of them touch a coral.

Well so far the blue guy seems to be doing a fine job, but I'll keep it in mind if there's a next time.

Makes me wonder what Markushka did with his foxface...

I ended up selling mine along with all my damsels to a local guy on CL with a big tank and a big algae problem. I really liked the guy tho. I was thinking about another, or some sort of tang to help with the algae in the 46. I got another urchin for the time being. my foxface was awesome, didn't touch the coral and destroyed the HA along with the longspine I had.

Tank looks great V, I really like how its grown in, I don't ever have that patience with my tanks.

whats the current live stock listing (inverts/fish).

Fire shrimp who's been around a long time (sole survivor of the hex-o-death). ORA mandarin, 6 line, watchman, tang.

Bunch of hermits, bunch of snails, emerald crab and apparently a porcelain who rode in on a frag. Still some feather duster worms in there somewhere.

Two frogspawns that have grown to 4 heads each, countless shrooms, rics, blastos, leng sy monti, bunch of acros, red planet, bird of paradise, bunch of zoas and palys, kenya tree, gonipora, stylophora, aveopora couple types of gsp.

Think that's it!

Very tempting. While waiting around for the basement remodel/larger tank, I've been kicking around the idea of setting this one up from scratch... A new 20L, marco rock from the hex and nothing but sps this time.

I have considered that a number of times...it would certainly eliminate most of my current problems with fast growing softies murdering my prized SPS frags.

I think eventually I would add LPS though, as I have a special place in a tank for euphyllia.

Watchman went carpet surfing (I guess) and ended up as a dog biscuit (I guess). His replacement just finished acclimating.

Me and my hammer and screwdriver embraced the spirit of the hurricane.

Pics tomorrow...

Funny you should ask...

When my t5's spectrum shifted some time ago, I spent a couple months dealing with a really bad outbreak of red algae and, once that was defeated, some green algae. Scroll back in the thread to read about the body count but basically the right island was decimated.

So I went at it with a hammer yesterday. Shattered the large pieces to make some baseball sized rubble and lots of areas for mounting a bunch of additional sps frags. Didn't have time to take pictures of all of them, but some are in the shots below.

FTS and a trip back to the two island look. The lense compression sort of spoils it, but the goni and avipora are pushed to the back wall. I'll post a video in the future so the scape is easier to see.

The most laid back fish in the tank:

Can't be all small and stony:

Always hunting:

A bit bluer than the photo, but a nice new add:

Super green under the lights. Each stalk is about 3 inches in length:

The gonipora is doing well. The avipora grows very, very quickly. New heads on the branch every week it seems.

Happy blastos, and the little chunk of broken leng sy that I pulled out of the hex last year has plated and grown and owns half of a large rock now.

Shroom porn...

... and more shroom porn:

Four heads on this now, this is the front two. Can't see the other FS behind it, but both are about the same size now. Tried to move one today but the skeleton has grown onto the rock (? -didn't realize they did that).

And last but not least, a very worthy successor to the late Fat Punky Blenny (r.i.p.). Lots of personality in this guy. He's always hanging out in the shrooms or squeezing hinself in between the monti plates. Bummer that the watchman suicided, but blenny > goby 100x over in my book...

Thanks for looking!

Wow V. Tank looks great and the pics are awesome as usual.

Can't wait to see what you do with an sps dominant setup.

6 months since last post, christ I'm a slacker.

Tank is approaching two years old. It's been on autopilot (see aforementioned slacker) for the most part, and doesn't get much attention apart from the weekend WC.

Even got lazy about WC's for a while, and am having to mag dose away some hair algae as penance for my sin...

The wrasse and bicolor blennie and fire shrimp are still alive and kicking. Frogspawn are huge, blastos are huge, monti cap is trying to take over the tank or something.

I'll get pics up soon (no it won't be another half a year).

The tank looks awesome. I am trying to reestablish mine. I do happen to have the same black and orange ric and can't wait til he gets big.
