Havent checked on your thread in a while! Looks amazing! I would recommend against the sand in the sump. I tried it when i first setup my tank and im really glad i got rid of it. When I pulled it out it had all types of gunk in it! The detritus settles my sump so i just made it barebottem and added some powerheads to keep the detritus suspended. It eventual gets skimmed away or my polyfiber in my overflow gets it.

nice start and good plans! Tagging along to see how it goes. I saw you are not decided about the door. How about a door that its not visible? Something like I did. Hope you like it and somehow help you decide.

And use this to hang it/hold it close

And the result:

I really like the stand to be like a big piece of solid wood and theres no noticeable door seems. The panel is 3/8" so its light and easy to carry. Also give a LOT of space to work in the sump.

what program is that to design a tank?

Well ladies and gents...

I'm leaving the 40B club. Today I purchased a 70 gallon tank. It has the same footprint so I can keep my existing stand and canopy, but I'm on to bigger and hopefully better.

Ben

Very nice tank! What is your plan for your 70?

Thanks!

Plan for the 70 really isn't much. It's the same footprint as my 40B just taller. The 40 is 16" tall and the 70 is 25".

I didn't post it on here, but I gutted all the SPS from my tank because I wanted an RBTA for my clowns. Less than 24 hours and they found thier home! I'm STOKED!

Good to see you back, Ben!! Your tank looks great man, I'm sure the 70g will be just as nice. I'm getting rid of my 40g as well. It will be dry in a couple of days.

So do you have any tanks running right now?

Yes sir! While you and Ty upgraded, I've downgraded to a 20L. It's somewhat temporary though, I plan on building a much larger system in about 2 years. I'm only keeping the 20g to house my clownfish until then.
