Caesar777
Heh.. Like I said, my buddy just took his camera back, so it'll have to wait. So-Cal group buy: shipping will be $40 total for 5 people, or $8 per person. Link to comment
B16A2NR
I thought you shipping was $33? Link to comment
Caesar777
For the 3 of you, shipping would be $33. For five people, it would cost more--$40. But even at $40, that evens out to $8 per person. $36.50 would still be $7.30 per person, a savings of only 70 cents for you. Link to comment
gpjoe
I've read that sinularia are "specialists" in chemical warfare. That they are highly competitive, and they secrete noxious chemicals that will inhibit or kill most other corals. I've also read that they produce excessive amounts of mucous and need a tank with good skimming and nutrient export. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what I've read in my book of Marine Invertebrates by Robert L. Shimek Link to comment
icenine
A lot of "leather" corals are known for "chemical warfare" but are kept with other corals with success. Link to comment
Caesar777
All soft corals secrete poisons, "chemical warfare", or allelopathy. Colt corals are the most noxious soft coral out there. BUT, believe it or not, MUSHROOMS secrete even more noxious chemicals than any branching soft coral. It's fine to keep soft corals with others--I just wouldn't keep them with SPS, which are very sensitive to that sort of thing. And really, ALL tanks should have good nutrient export (and good nutrient import to limit, as in DI water, limited feedings, etc.) and good skimming anyway. Link to comment
B16A2NR
Alright heres the people that said they were interested on the thread or PM'ed me to be in the group buy: deadmanh, b16a2nr, johnnyreef, erbinone, jamesy32, genuck. Caesar, I will paypal you tomorow when I get a total including shipping for 6 people. Everyone be sure to pay on time so we can get this package out before the holiday hits! I want everyone to know that I am going to house your coral safely until you pick it up in my propagation system, and take pics upon opening the package, so you can't blame me for DOA's. First come first serve on the pick ups. I'm not going to hold your frag for you longer than 10 days. Is this cool with everyone? Link to comment
gpjoe
Thanks for the info. Didn't know that. Link to comment
flyhigh123
i want a frag!, hey b16, i want to join the group buy.... just let me know how much Caesar Link to comment
Caesar777
Sure, anyone can get in on the group buy. Is everyone going to pay B16A2NR, then, and then he'll pay me?--or will everyone be paying me individually? To get everything out tomorrow, I'll need to know before around 1PM, since 3PM is the cutoff time for overnight packages at the post office, and I'll need an hour or so to pack them up, plus transit time. Otherwise, Tuesday will work fine. Though the PO does Saturday delivery standard, so perhaps Friday shipment for arrival on Saturday would work fine. On the shipping, I'd say $45 for the 6 people you have listed, B16A2NR--it's late, but I'm pretty sure that adds up to $7.50 per person--or $50 for 7 of you if flyhigh joins in on the buy. (That's $7.15 per person.) Flyhigh, it would be best to talk to B16A2NR about that, since he's arranging everything. Link to comment
Stanley
yea... clear that thing out. If frags are still avilable i'm in. Link to comment
B16A2NR
I think it would be better handled if you collected the payments. We have to put a stop on the number of people in the group buy, I cannot handle to many people coming over to my house the weekend before finals week. Lets stop it at the 6 we currently have:deadmanh, b16a2nr, johnnyreef, erbinone, jamesy32, genuck. If you only get 4 people's payments by your shipping deadline please ship it out anyways and I think everyone will understand that they need to toss in a few more bucks to cover the one who lagged on making a payment in time. I think thats everything, Keep us posted and PM me with a tracking number when you get them out. Thanks Todd Link to comment
B16A2NR
Oh yeah I paid you BTW, Has anyone else made their $37.15 payment to: flojpoj@hotmail.com Link to comment
Caesar777
Okay, got payment from B16A2NR and johnnyreef (just need the 8 bucks shipping). So I still need payment from deadmanh, erbinone, and jamesy32 before 2PM today. Link to comment
Caesar777
Sorry, I just don't have a camera right now. Mine sucks so much, you'd get a brown blur. But I can take one anyway, if you want. Lights don't come on for another two hours or so, so he's still "asleep", but I can see what I get with mine. Link to comment
Caesar777
Thanks, James. The shipping cost was actually $8, though, but 75 cents isn't a big deal. Kidding! But if the other two people ditch on the buy, I'll need $4 each from you and B16A2NR for the shipping; if one more person pays, I'll need $2 additional per person ($9 each total). I know it seems weird, and maybe confusing, but it's actual shipping costs--I don't do "handling" fees, just two bucks for the 40-hour heat pack (and I think I'd need two if all four of you go in on it). I'll refund the difference if the shipping is substantially lower than quoted. Link to comment
Caesar777
Okay, all the corals are bagged for the three people that paid. I'm going to leave in about 15 minutes, so that'll be the cutoff time for the last two people. Otherwise, I'm taping up the box and going on my way! Link to comment
Caesar777
Okay, I shipped it out at 2:15 or so. Link to comment
genuck
oh shoot! did i miss out on the group buy? haven't been online all day :( Link to comment
