3d Designing & Printed Reef Aquarium Parts (YouTube Channel)

Hey Everyone,

I just recently started a Youtube channel in which I 3d design and make reef related projects.  The idea for this started over the Holidays when I posted a thread on Reef2Reef offering to design some project for fellow reefers.  Link to original thread

Here is the Plan...

Once a week I am going to make something suggested by the Nano Reef members (also on Reef2reef). I am going to record the drawing, designing, printing, testing, and implementation of the design. After each project is completed (success or failure) I am going to make the designs available on Thingiverse and post a YouTube video. (
ISeaLive channel - Just Started)

My goals...

First, I would like to challenge myself to think outside the box, get better at designing and creating awesome things.
2nd, I would like the community to hold me accountable because I am notorious for not finishing projects. I always get bored and move on to something else when the last project is 95% complete. Last, I would like to create a library of informative content and designs that can be used to help inspire other reefers to make awesome things.

If you end up using any of my designs please post pictures and videos in this thread. I will be using the pictures/videos you post in the videos that I make and post on Youtube.

Here is my first every youtube video.  Please let me know what you think!!!

Here are some of the projects that I created in the Christmas Thread.

What should I make next? Please post what you would like to see me make. It will help a ton if you include drawings, dimensions, and pictures. Before starting a design I have to have a full understanding of what I am creating and the objectives that it has to accomplish.

Happy Reefing,

No takers... 😞  O well.  Here what I created this week for.

This an Anemone guard for a Nero 3.  I am calling it the Neer-oh 3 Nem.

What ATO sensor are you using?

XP aqua duetto

Another cool thing... not sure if other mighty jet users have encounted or just me, but snails get into my return pump lol - the cover that comes with the mighty jet doesnt fit the Nuvo 10 or 20 peninsula. So a cover for that would be cool, it would have to be veryyy slim profile.

I think I found a picture of it.  Does this look familiar?

Yup, so that's intake on the right is where they get in from.

It needs some cleanup but here is the ATO cover.

Awesome! Will you be selling some of your stuff or just making the designs for people to use?

I am going to post them up for ppl to download and print.  I'll need some ppl to test the design and once they confirmed the part fits and functions properly I will make them available for purchase (If you can't print them yourself).

Here is the link to the Hydros ATO sensor cover.  https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4729657

This design is only 1mm thick so it is going to need to be printed with a SLA or SLS printer.

I am open for a nicer 1st chamber Fulval 13.5 design

The one I printed didnt have any flow holes to the 2nd chamber for basket 2 and 3 below.

Also I had to cut my own slit for it to go down in the chamber further

this is the one I downloaded

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3770269

looking for some drain vents on the side like the intank. I had to drill holes

Yeah that design need some work.  I need detailed measurements on the chambers including all the flow holes and the size of that piece you had to cut the slit for.  The more precise the the better and please use millimeters.  Also include the middle and pump chambers in the diagram.

Using my calipers I got

1st Chamber is 92.7mmx74.8 Chamber 2 is the exact same 92.7x74.8, 3rd return pump chamber is 95.6mmx74.8

All chambers are 306mm tall

the first slot opening on the side is 90mm down each slot is 6.4mm wide and each one is spaced 20mm down from each and there are 7 slots. Looking to block the top 3 so the filter floss section has to pass completely through the top section to catch all debris

I couldnt get a good measurement of that slot at the bottom of the first chamber to let the basket go down further but it looks to be right in the middle.

I hope this was helpful

Great start but I am going to need some more measurements.  You might already have some above but I just need to make sure.  Some of the arrows are labeled and other arent

each chamber is 74.8mm front to back in width

glass is 5mm and chamber dividers are 2.5mm

That slit looks to sit right in the middle. I cant get a good measurement of that

the weir is 36.3mm in height

83mm is the height of that opening in the middle chamber

the height of that slit in the first chamber is 125mm it is 23mm wide I would say looking down from the top trying to get a measurement. it looks to be right in the middle and would say the material itself is 2.5mm in thickness same as the chamber dividers.

each opening is 42mm front to back

Another cool thing would be a back cover for all the AIO's. Intank I believe has one for the innovative marines but its HUGE.

Solid,  I'll have plenty to work with now.  Not sure when I will get to it but I'll make something.

There are alot of AIO's.  Which one specifically are you referring to?  I gotta start somewhere 😉

Ok,  Please shoot over some extremely detailed measurements (in millimeters - I hate inches and fractions of an inch).  The more detailed the better.  Just check out all the measurements I needed in the above post for the Fulval 13.5.  I have to recreate the tank before I can make the cover.  Also include some pictures if you can.  Thanks
