That just makes me feel so sad for the little fella. I have a guilty conscious when I see amphipods getting tossed in the trash with my dirty filter floss. I know... exactly... it’s super cute. 😞 Quote Link to comment
yoshii
I love how Brienne and Jamie swim through the castle! Hmm that brown algae on the acro doesn't look good, have you considered removing that piece to dip? 1 Quote Link to comment

No, unfortunately I did not dip and totally should have... all three pieces of the Indo acro are looking rough. I won’t try one of these maricultured acros again until my tank is more establish and I know what the heck I’m doing... when they fail to make it, it’s hard to know if it’s me, my tank, or the coral not being hardy... I’ve noticed some of the colonies at my LFS are doing poorly too... my wolverine and the fuzzy green acro still look good... the encrusting montis look good, but the digitata is still having issues that look like tiny copepods at the base and polyps are retracted. 😞 SPS is hard. I broke down and got some cloves and a goni. 😬🤫😊 1 Quote Link to comment

And sometimes they are more sensitive. When in doubt, it usually doesn't hurt to dip! I've also heard good things about using Amino acid supplements for struggling corals 3 Quote Link to comment
banasophia
Okay friends, what’s up with this... acontia filaments? Totally thought it was cat fur at first... hope it’s okay... Quote Link to comment
banasophia
Also, I’m worried the cloves could get a little crazy in this tank, and they are starting to try to spread... what do you guys think... should I move them to another tank? Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
I love them. Can they have their own rock? 2 Quote Link to comment

I really like being able to observe lots of different corals in an environment to see how they respond so differently to changes. Quote Link to comment
banasophia
Haven’t totally killed my corals yet... most of them are hanging in there... the indo acro seems to be a total goner though. Really learning about this tank and what these corals like. First of all, I made a bad assumption that there would be no appreciable evaporation since my 16 doesn’t really get any, but evaporation seems to have led to a gradual increase in salinity up to 1.029, not good... just got an ATO for this tank and hope to set it up tomorrow I switched from Tropic Marin Reef Pro to Red Sea Blue Bucket and there was an immediate improvement in my digi, so it seems it wasn’t just the copepods irritating it A snail got stuck in my gyre today, forcing it to shut off, and the fish and corals have looked much more relaxed... may dial back on the flow and see how it goes 5 Quote Link to comment
debbeach13
Sounds like you caught the elevated SG just in time. I recently stated that I absolutely love my ATO knock on wood no problems with it. It keeps the tank at 1.025 I check before W/C every week so I can match the new water. Isn't getting just the right flow for the different corals so challenging! I think your tank coming along nicely. There are always a couple things that need to be tweaked. Happy Reefing. 3 Quote Link to comment
monkeytrumpets
Wow, your tank is amazing! I love the theme! 😍 I'm planning to set up a Biocube 32 soon as well (just in time for summer heat). Have you had any issues with high temps in your tank? Wondering if I will need a chiller... 1 Quote Link to comment

Thanks so much! I’m definitely a fan of Biocubes, good choice IMO. How are you thinking of stocking it? Yes, I find the temps can run high due to the lids... I use a Chill Solutions chiller in my 16, will probably do the same in this tank for peace of mind... temp got up to 82 on a warm day recently, which seemed to be fine, but I worry about it getting even higher. 1 Quote Link to comment

Got a couple birds nests and a few other frags from the $10 frag section at Your Reef, where it’s even better than that cuz you buy 6 and get three free!! I’ll post some better pics over the weekend, just snapped these for ya. I’m a little bummed, because one was supposed to be a cyphastrea, but the guy must’ve accidentally picked up the monti next to it, which isn’t my favorite monti... I’m really excited to see that my aquaman monti is encrusting well on the Frag Collar from @NanoRox!! 6 Quote Link to comment

I think he’s holding off on making the magnetic ones for the moment because the magnets themselves were super pricey, but I would definitely recommend getting some of the regular frag collars!! I love the clean look of the Biocubes, but after a LOT of mulling, ended up going with the 40 gallon IM Nuvo Fusion. It's currently mid-cycle, so I'm living vicariously through beautiful tanks like yours while I wait to be able to start stocking mine. 😋 The plan is for primarily LPS/Softies. Still debating on fish. I definitely want a clown pair, and then possibly a clown goby, and a Banggai cardinal. Since I want to go captive bred if possible, that limits my choices a bit. 3 Quote Link to comment
