Damn those are some great looking shots . One week till the frag farmers market, i'll hopefully be getting something. Haven't gotten a coral since oct :whoa:.

Thanks. I’m sure you will find something interesting for your tank. What are you looking for?

I think the reef rx is actually working in my tank. I'm on day 7 of the medicine and everything is living so that's a plus.

Do you have a link to this product or is it a full name? I don’t have big algae issues other than lobophora algae but I’m open to all methods available.

And bummer about the pipefish , those are really awesome fish.

Yeah it sucks. I have some theories on what went wrong but it’s irrelevent as I wouldn’t be able to change anything in a short period of time anyway.

So this is what I'm using, I had a gift certificate from Christmas so this is the one I got.

https://www.marinedepot.com/Flux_Rx_100_Bryopsis_and_Green_Hair_Algae_Treatment_Blue_Life_USA_Saltwater_Aquarium_Additives_Supplements_Algae_Control-Blue_Life_USA-BL0118-FIADAL-BL0118-vi.html

It says it doesn't work on all algae, but it seems to be holding what I have at bay. I talked with jbb and he said it took about a month before he started to see it die off. The only thing that scares me is the no water changes till the algae is gone. I tried to do it one time before but didn't have two part so I aborted it. I have to check my alk tonight and see what the final drop is, but I'm thinking it'll be somewhere around 1dkh. Now I have to figure out how to dose to get it back to 7.7 and keep it there for another 3 weeks. I've never dosed before so I'm a little concerned, I don't wanna kill anything.

I'm going to stick with rock flower nems and lps, but I'm looking for a frogspawn and maybe some photosynthetic gorgs. I have some vertical space I wanna take up. I will probably grab a blasto or acan or possibly both.

Slow drop/raise of DKH isn’t an issue but if it drops below 5...... yeah. You could use two part or kalkwasser (slow drip) to keep it in check. You could also use Kalk in your ATO.

Plenty of nice LPS outthere so you should be able to pick something nice.

And gorgs are always a great choice to add some motion.

I’m not really sure what to get as far as fish choice is concern. I do know that it’s going to be a working fish. Another words, a fish that can help with algae or pest control. Don’t have an issue with pests but I like fish that give something back to community than just looking pretty.

I’ll setup a Pipefish tank eventually but it’s going to be a dedicated, species specific venture. I have contacted a breeder to get some pointers and am slowely trying to come up with sensible design that will support these guys and keep roof over my head at the same time. As far as corals are concern well, there are several acros that I’ll get over the period of the next several weeks. Unfortunately my go to guy is heading on Hawaiian 10 day trip and I’ll be in Portugal when he gets back so....

Thanks for the link. I’m not familiar with that product. Hope it solves your GHA problems.

I tried that in my tank and not sure it worked. I do know that the reef flux seemed to work on what I had. I dosed a 25 gallon and put some rocks with the algae in it. Algae was gone in a few weeks.

Hope it works for you.

Not sure really. I was told it was some sort of bryopsis but was not the fern type.

When all my SPS died I had one hell of a blume of sorts.....my tangs and rabbit fish wouldnt touch it......the snails would not eat it either.

Hmmmm, interesting. But then again, there are probably number of different strains out there. Same with Cyano.

But it did work right...?

I'm gonna watch the alk and see what happens. Like you said as long as things are slow everyone will be good to go. Well I can't wait to see what you end up with 😀.

I hope so too. I fixed some husbandry issues that I think may have contributed to it and I've started to feed a mix of frozen food. Fingers crossed it works, so far so good. I'm gonna grab a youtube video of it in a little bit to see if I can tell a difference a week has made so far.

To my knowledge it worked. There is no sign of it on the rocks and frag that were taken out of my big tank. I gave all the rock and corals to the LFS so not sure how they dealt with it.

And yes was told there are many forms of bryopsis. Reason I went reef flux is a friend said it killed all algae in his tank, I tried the drops DS posted but it didnt do anything and I even dosed 2 or 3 times if I remember right.

Yeah, keep an eye on Alk and if you were slacking slacking off a bit....... sh!t will catch up with you sooner or later. With that being said, any bumps on the road that you will overcome in reefing will make you that much wiser. 😉

As to what I’m going to get..... I haven’t decided on the fish yet but I do know exactly what sps are waiting for me.

@spectra got some awesome Bonsai so I got a bit jealous and and I’m getting one of those. Cali tort, PC rainbow and few others.

Lol I hope I get all the little mistakes out of me before the 75 gets wet. So far this is really the only shitty hurdle that i've had. Hope to keep learning as I go here. 🙂

Yeah, the problem I have with those algae cocktails is that you either kill your algae, algae and everything else or nothing at all. Some of those so called reef safe solutions freak me out.

As far as working fish well, they are all good but to get rid off a real algae problems....... I don’t know? But to deal with small patches here and there, they are perfect little helpers.

I don’t know a single person that didn’t go through number of holly sh!t moments along the way. So cheer up, you’re not the first and definitely not the last to deal with reefing demons.

Oh no, do you have a magnet or is it not magnetic?

I’m not sure. Too burned out after work. I’ll get to it tomorrow. Probably gonna syphon out an entire return chamber (pretty messy back there) and do some deep cleaning on my return pump, heaters etc while I’m at it.

Watching Tidal Gardens live sale show. His suiting voice and no nonsense approach to reef keeping relaxes me quite a bit.

Copy/pasted pics from last page as I probably won’t take any new pics for a while. Maybe some video? I don’t know.

One more pic of Millepora I just brought home. Just few minutes after placing it into a tank (so no PA and pretty pissed). LFS was kind enough to cut a fresh frag off their main colony in the display tank. It’s my fav. LFS that I visit the most so if you are local (Long Island) pls support them if you can - Advanced Marine Aquatics.

That new millepora is awesome, great color, how nice to cut a fresh frag for you!

It’s called Sunrise I believe. And yeah, they might do it for their regulars. Sometimes. Very good people. Well informed and helpful.
