Some more updates today.

I was able to move my RFA to the main rockwork, and it seems to be staying put so far. *fingers crossed*

So my turbo snail, which has managed to evade the Tentacles of Death (i.e. elegance coral) for over two months now, has recently knocked down some frags (which were surperglued).

I've had to reattached my acropora again.  Luckily this guy still isn't showing any more STN and the polyps are consistently extended. The top right fragment is a bit pissed after falling into the elegance's tentacles...

My purple turbinaria frag fell into the mouth of my scolymia, but it seems to be doing OK, too:

My birdnest contiues to grow its new branches.  Being secured by putty, it's been less vulnerable to my turbo snail's bulldozing ways.

I took out my dragon's breath from behind the rocks and placed it next to the hydnophora so I can see it better. It's been doing a decent job growing and soaking up nitrates/phosphates.  I've pruned a lot of growth from it in the last two months.

This branching montipora has shown the most growth in just 32 days, but it also browned out over that time.

2-14-2017, just a few days after being added, with its blue purple polyps:

3-18-2017, 32 days later, branches having grown quite bit, polyps extended, but all brownish.

Main factor is probably lighting.

Meet Lenny the Midas Blenny! He's actually been in my tank for nine days. :ninja:

If you've ever seen one of these guys swim, you know they swim fast and are in constant motion, so photographing him was tough. Most pics I took were too grainy, too blurry or just half of his body swimming away.

Here are some pics with the aperture wide open:

midas12.thumb.jpg.718bb12558107c541215ed1a03bdbc3c.jpg

The rest used a smaller aperture to get his whole body in focus, but the pics are a little grainier because of higher ISO:

Midas Blennies always look so happy. :)

My orange sport is a grumpster.

Not sure I would describe mine as "happy", but he's definitely a character.

very nice. I love the drop off. It's amazing how you took everything from one tank and put it into another so seamlessly. Like it was meant to be.

Thanks!  I had picked out a good variety of shapes and sizes of live rock when starting the 11g, so they could be used to make many different scapes.

Yeah, midas blennies have these big puppy-dog eyes that make them rather adorable.   Like this:

Nice addition of the Midas Blenny, they are full of character. In my 60 Cube a good 10 years ago it was one of my favorite fish hands down.

My RFA has moved slightly and settled on top of my montipora setosa.  That poor thing, stung from below by the elegance and above by the RFA.

Meanwhile, the babies are doing OK in their air plant container:

So much exposed rock surfaces. I'm resisting the urge to cover them with frags and let things grow out a bit more... :)

Sure! You just need a larger waterfall tank to house one. :P

FTS. My RFA has decided to moved to a lower and more shady spot.  It's closer to the scoly and elegance now...

FTS_03232017.thumb.jpg.520bf4bb4d1642efc35880426a4db5d8.jpg

Speaking of the elegance....

ELEGANCE_03232017.thumb.jpg.7318221bafc38f7de0eb550439122851.jpg

I wish I could record a decent video of it.  My camera doesn't like the LED + surface movement the scatters the light and makes it look like it's flickering in the video.   I could turn off the pumps, but then that would mean no movement...

The RFA just wants to be sure you're paying attention.

That way it knows you'll be a decent parent to it's babies.

You ARE feeding the younguns, aren't you?

Well are you???

Cause if not it might mosey over a lil closer to the Elegance..... :ninja:

Not sure if that is a promise or a threat!

I made sure to feed them plenty today.  It seems to have made the RFA mama happier and she's now moving back up the rock work.

After seeing my acro stabilize and my digitata grow, I decided to venture further into SPS territory and got me this ORA orange digitata.  They call it orange but the polyps look pink to me. This one has a green flesh with pink polyps, like a strawberry shortcake.

Hopefully it doesn't brown out on me.  I've been looking to upgrade my lights soon.

For some reason my Midas Blenny is changing color, becoming more pink/purple on the body, but the yellow remains on the fins and parts of the face.

I don't have any anthias he would be mimicking so I'm a little surprised.  The only other inhabitant is a Clarkii clownfish.

How odd!!

He still looks cool tho.

What lighting were you thinking of upgrading to?

I don't remember what you have on there now.

I've been looking into a bunch of different options, from high-end to low-end, to LEDs or T5 or hybrids.  I found something local that looks like a really good deal, but I'd rather not say what it is until I have it in my hands. :ninja:

Here are pics I took right before feeding time this evening, better showing the color shift. You can see he's anxiously waiting for the food.

I got my new lights. Behold!  This guy in Tucson was taking down his tank, and so I got a great deal for this unit.  It is so bright! B)

Now I have to figure out a mounting solution...

I love Lenny the Blenny, and congrats on the new light!!!

It'll be interesting to see the difference from the old one over your tank.
