Matteo
Looks are what matters I would also consider, if you think you're up for it with all your rescaping, taking some tonga branch and mortaring/epoxying/carefully balancing it under your rockwork to lift it up off the sand - this way more water can flow to it and less detritus will build up under it. I have seen a handful of setups with this. Makes the rock work look very natural and like mentioned adds flow underneath along with hiding spots for fish and such. Link to comment
ReefWeeds
So Ben, you think taking out the dinitrate helped? I've not removed my bio matrix media yet... Link to comment
jedimasterben
So Ben, you think taking out the dinitrate helped? I've not removed my bio matrix media yet... Dunno. Too early to tell at this point. I am seeing some corals have opened up more, but nothing like they were before. Link to comment
Hexadron
Yeah, I didn't think it was, either, but that what pumice is Oh well, another $60 gone, getting 5L of Eheim Substrat Pro, which is sintered glass. You should also look into Siporax. I made that mistake with Marinepure when it first came out not knowing any better. Link to comment
jedimasterben
You should also look into Siporax. I made that mistake with Marinepure when it first came out not knowing any better. Siporax is significantly more expensive than Eheim Substrat. Link to comment
jedimasterben
Psssshhht, be a baller man. If it were somehow better, then that is one thing, but it is the same material made in the same process. Spending money just for the sake of spending money doesn't make sense Link to comment
jedimasterben
Got some LRS Reef Frenzy today, finally. Of course I forgot my cooler and ice packs, so had to drive the hour or so back just chillin out in the car. Link to comment
jedimasterben
I cut up the LRS into chunks, and only after putting one in, they are WAY bigger than they needed to be lol, by about double, even for my fish load. Oops. Link to comment
teenyreef
I had some LRS once. For my 4g and 10g tank. Hilarity ensued Link to comment
jedimasterben
Did you feed an entire sheet? Link to comment
teenyreef
Did you feed an entire sheet? I'm pretty sure the sheet would have lasted five or six years. Seriously, though, the chunks of fish meat were too big for all the little fish to eat, and even a small chunk was way too much for the tank. I accidentally left it laying out on the counter overnight and that was the end of that Link to comment
jedimasterben
So despite having the last five days off work, I barely even saw the tank, I had the flu and it sucked. I did manage to clean the glass on Saturday, I think, or maybe that was Friday, I can't remember at this point, but the tank looked great. A couple of the leathers still aren't back to normal, but they're so finicky as it is they're probably just doing it now to spite me. Bastards. Link to comment
teenyreef
This shot cracks me up, he reminds me of Oscar the Grouch for some reason. Everything looks fantastic, Ben, this tank is really coming along Link to comment
Slowtwitch
Looking good Ben. I want a piece of the big leather that looks like a hairy tongue. ??? Link to comment

It DOES in that shot! It's grown probably another 2" in diameter since I got it a year and a half ago, but it hasn't yet dropped anything off of it, but I'll let you know if it does! Awesome shots Ben (will you come photograph my tank!) Thanks! I wouldn't mind lol, it's pretty easy, just set the camera and start snapping And actually this light has been by far the worst I've had when it comes to getting true to life photos. I have a hypothesis as to why and will be testing that this week Link to comment

jedimasterben
Great photos. Gsp looking good. Thanks! I was going to post that pic to your thread, but I fell asleep around 9:30 last night lol. It is starting to fill in. It would be a lot farther along but several big pieces that I glued in place have come off, and actually the piece on the far right is about halfway off and is starting to fuse together and be double sided All is not completely well in the tank, though, unfortunately. I lost my springer's damsel at some point, along with the orange female molly. Some of the leathers still have not perked up, mostly the big green nepthea from MikeTR, that thing continues to stay super small and deflated, it's been long enough that it is definitely not still shedding. I wonder if the 'SPL' sinularia that it is touching is doing a number on it? That is the one thing I have not tried yet is moving it and seeing what happens, I might give that a shot today. markalot
Looking really good, love the photos. My nepthea never sheds or if it does it's at night. I bet moving it and some carbon will work, I know the nepthea can really STINK up the tank if my carbon gets too old. Might be what is browning out all my acros in there as well. Link to comment

I actually realized I have not changed the carbon in a good while, so did that this morning. Was so far the only thing I've done today besides eat breakfast lol Though, in my defense, I have been taking care of the yard, mowing, trimming the trees, etc after work the past couple of days, so I think I deserve a day of rest Link to comment
