vlangel
Glad to hear that all is well with the fish back home, (well except for poor hungry Clyde) and that you are having a great time. 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
The tank looks great, the sitter did an amazing job. And exciting/stressful news, Bonnie and Clyde had babies! Around 50 I think. I say stressful because now I have to figure out what to do with them all suggestions? I think I may trade Clyde for a female if I can, because I seriously have no idea what to do with all these tiny fish. Or perhaps I will rehome both Bonnie and Clyde and get cichlids that don't breed so easily. 1 Quote Link to comment

fishfreak0114
Glad to hear you're having so much fun! HP Land is my favorite stop in Orlando. If only there was something I could do to magically make all those astonishingly long lines disapparate I'm not sure if it's because we went on a weekday, or maybe the hollywood version is just quieter, but there were pretty much zero lines! The park is smaller than Orlando's, but it was awesome. We went on Harry potter and the forbidden journey 6 times in a row! They literally let us just walk through a door (shortcut) to where you get on. 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
So I just looked at my clownfish and they are covered in black spots!!! My first thought was, how on earth did black ich get in?! But after some more reading, it seems that they tried to host something (I'm guessing the hammer). They're acting normal, and eating like pigs. But wow did I ever panic! I hope the spots go away, they look...odd. image_zpsfntjaoy1 by orb1915, on Flickr Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
Wow I've been doing a bad job updating lately! No FTS for over a month! Promise I'll have a photo update when I get on christmas break (this Friday's my last day for two weeks!) Life's been pretty hectic, with work and school both keeping me busy. This coming week we have a debate in science, and my team is really bad in the sense that out of 8ish people, only me and one other girl did any work. This weekend I wrote the opening statement and all three arguments! I also had to make a poodle skirt (which has gone interesting so far) for PE, because we have to present a dance in groups. My group is doing the evolution of dance, so I'm dressed 50's. And christmas! Every year it catches me off guard how much time I have to spend on baking and presents. I still plan to make 19 cards! The tank is looking good. For the last week and a half things looked kind of irritated, probably because I hadn't done a water change since before my vacation. Shame on me! So I did an 8l one midweek, and 16l today. Everything perked right up! I replaced the carbon and purigen, and I'll likely do the phosgaurd soon too. The sand was really really gross. Unfortunately one head of my acan is mostly dead, I didn't notice that the duncan had stung it . Purple and green favia has had mild tissue recession (I think water quality, it's near nothing else and I haven't moved it). The colt coral is growing like mad! I'm pretty sure it has doubled or more in size since I got it. In the new year I plan to make a few changes. I'm likely going to rehome the whip and blade gorgonians, as both have been very temperamental and I think they'd do better with someone else. In their place I'll likely put the large leather from the back because right now it touches the surface of the water. And then maybe I'll put the colt where the leather is now, because I love that thing but it's not very visible from my spot on the couch. I also plan on making a Boxing Day coral order (probably canada corals). I really want to get at least one lobo/symphyllia, one acan and one softie. I find myself being picketer about what I add now that space is running out. The last couple orders I've made I've gone for the most I could get for x dollars. This time around I think I'll just go for a couple pieces I really like. They also sell some badass st.thomas mushrooms... Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
I forgot to add that the clowns still have their black spots. Also, I just noticed today that the blasto has grown a third one! 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
I have bubble algae!!!!! it has decided to pop up on a frag I've had for months! I haven't even really seen it in person, I just noticed it when I was flipping through photos I took earlier On a happier note, I took photos earlier! Will edit and post tomorrow I can't deal with the bubbles until Monday. Fingers crossed that it's only the two bubbles. I see an emerald crab in my future! 1 Quote Link to comment
Newstead
I found red bubble algae on a frag plug, put in an emerald crab and poof! Gone, along with what I think was a few strands of bryopsis. He is now working on ridding my biocube of an ugly grayish sponge that grew on the underside of the rocks. Love this one - when I baste mysis for the mandarin he comes out waving his claws, grabs the baster and gets his dinner. 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
My last emerald crab ate bubble algae (I had one bubble). That was last year, so I think the algae was introduced again with some zoas I bought over the summer. I actually like how it looks, but I don't want it to take over so I will work to eradicate it. 1 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
So in no particular order... This guy has been slowly splitting. I find it odd that this one has gone from one to three mouths in the few months I've had it yet the green one I've had over a year hasn't grown at all. It ended up flipped while I was on vacation and it's been steadily declining since Also, my 26g FW has blue green algae (cyano). I plan to treat the tank with erythromycin. Hopefully that will knock it out quick. Happier news. It's only a week to Christmas! And then it'll be Boxing Day when I order as much supplies as I can for the following year. I've been reading about past sales for Canada corals and fragbox, and it's seems that fragbox's are better so I'll probably order from them. I did that last year and I was very happy. They usually have some decent acans too 4 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
I plucked out the bubble algae today. But my clumsiness got the better of me and I dropped one! No idea where it floated to I had planned to order a bunch of coral on Boxing Day. But today I was looking on fragbox and they had some really nice things at good prices right now, so I'm placing an order tonight! It won't ship until next week, so I may add to it on Boxing Day. No acans purchased, they have lots in stock so I'm hoping for a sale on them. Exciting! 2 Quote Link to comment

Enjoy your Christmas break and new order arriving. Thanks vlangel! It is too bad that the Goni is a goner, but I kind of knew it was soon as I got home from vacation. I'm not sure how long it was flipped for, but it partly bleached and hasn't extended properly since. You have a great Christmas too! The order is placed! I'll see if photobucket will cooperate because I screenshoted them from the website. I think this is my favorite order I've made. I bought: A zoa pack with 10 frags (I think I already have one or two types, but it was still a great deal, only $80!) Teal blastos Purplish with green middle blastos A purple corky finger Small green polyp toadstool (I finally found one at a good price!) It'll ship sometime next week, we have to drive the next town over to pick it up because overnight shipping to Merritt isn't overnight lol My mom said for Christmas she was planning to give me coral money. So on this order she said she would either pitch in $50 or add to it. I told her I'd prefer if she added to it so well see what happens. I did point out some nice acans 2 Quote Link to comment

Today I was flipping through fragbox again, and they had a green Japanese leather. My mom has been asking for ideas for my 16th birthday, so I texted her that there was a super awesome coral and she bought it I just realized today that I only have two weeks to study for my drivers test! I foresee lots of last minute cramming because I'll probably continue to put off studying. 2 Quote Link to comment

fishfreak0114
I really need this coral order to ship soon so I stop adding to it! I knew I shouldn't look at Boxing Day sales but I did anyway, and now there's another acan and a purple Mushie on the way! Also, I found out what my mom added to my order, it's the orange acan and the green one I pointed out! . I'll try to get pics up later, I didn't screenshot the ones she bought because, well, I didn't know she bought them, but I have today's purchases. I really need to cut my spending, I just spent over $100 on live plants for a new freshwater planted I'm setting up for sparkling gouramis. All these tempting Boxing Day sales... 2 Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
The coral will arrive Thursday!!!!! Before then there are a few things I need to do. One being a water change. I realized that I haven't been doing water changes regularly. It's kind of just been whenever I have time, and though the tank doesn't seem negatively impacted I would like to get back to my biweekly schedule in the new year. I do find it kind of difficult to follow maintenance schedules, being that I'm about to set up my 7th fish tank I just kind of cram cleaning in when I have time. I also plan to move the gorgonians I'm giving away to the sandbed, and move the large leather. Then I'll be able to decide where to put the new softies and whether or not to move more things around. I'm so excited to have 3 acans coming! Now my one won't look so lonely. I'm so excited but I don't really know where I put them all! I hadn't intended to buy so much, but there were good deals and my mom added a couple and it's probably the only order I'll make for a long time because of the shipping cost so I bought lots Quote Link to comment
fishfreak0114
I just did a water change and moved some things around. The big leather and colt coral are in new spots lower in the tank towards the back where the gorgonians were. The gorgonians are on the sand. I hope I can find someone to take them quickly. I moved two small leathers to the sandbed because I didn't like where they were and I'll place them once I have the new stuff. I also decided to make a small zoa island on the sand, with 10 frags on the way I won't be able to fit them all on the rocks. I think I'll put my favorites on it so they are easier to see. I moved the blue kiss and radioactive zoas onto it and it's nice being able to see them up close The splatter hammer has two heads (still a bit connected) that are rapidly receding. It has been irritated on and off, but now it looks like they may bail. I did an iodine dip and the frag is on the sand. Not sure if it's related, but there was an asterina on it (which I removed just to be safe). I may dip it again tomorrow if I see no improvement. I'm so excited for tomorrow! A big coral order on the way and petland has two for one fish and live plants for boxing week! The perfect time to spend the $100 gift card I got for Christmas! A new petsmart opened too, so I'm looking forward to checking it out and hoping it has the African cichlids I'm looking for. And cheap rainbow fish, my mom and I both love them. Edit: I just found (and glued) a vermetid on the hammers skeleton. Perhaps that's what has been pissing it off. I've never noticed mucus trails before, but the angle was different with it on the sand and there it was. Bummer, I thought I'd glued over all those suckers! 1 Quote Link to comment
