Yeah, that really stinks, and it's what I was most worried about. I've had random meltdowns before and it was always a sign of something seriously wrong. One time it was copper contamination and another time it was the first sign of a tank crash. Good luck with yours! Link to comment

teenyreef
It's been a wild day today! I fed Emerald, the new green banded goby, in his quarantine tank this morning as usual. When I checked on him at lunchtime, he was gone What the heck? The tank is covered but I checked around the tank just in case. No luck. Took the PVC out of the tank, nothing. Took the filter floss and carbon out, still no sign of him. Finally I took everything completely out of the tank, drained most of the water, and tipped the tank up on one corner, and there he was, in the back corner of the back chamber! He must have slipped through the overflow. So I went ahead and put him in the bucket with the rest of the water, because I decided he might as well graduate from the quarantine tank since it was all taken apart anyway https://flic.kr/p/qUeMTt'>https://flic.kr/p/qUeMTt'>Emerald in the bucket by https://www.flickr.com/people/15628054@N06/'>TeenyReef, on Flickr So...while I was getting ready to transfer him into the CAD Lights tank, I decided to check the back chamber of that tank, since both the Flash (rusty goby) disappeared over New Year's, and Rock Star II (green banded goby) disappeared last week, and I'd given them both up for dead. He liked to do the adrenaline junkie thing and go over the overflow. I would find him in the drain chamber of the sump. markalot
Well, my sexy shrimp decided that there might be something tasty there, so I took a quick picture after gently prodding him to move along. If he decides he has a taste for SPS he may be in for some major lifestyle changes. Let me know what you think: Retracted Polyps by TeenyReef, on Flickr I'm going to say that's a stylo based on the retracted polyps, which stylos can do, and the structure. Here is a green birdsnest sitting at the bottom of my tank and slowly growing in lower light. My big anemone attacked the left side where you can see the skeleton. Notice how small and narrow the branches are? This birdsnest can look fatter, but the skeleton is always narrow branches, not bulky bumps. Link to comment
latteslave
I don't know - that's a tough one... Has style like growth but the polyps really look like a birds nest. Way cool that you found those two in the back chamber! Really love this tank. So much drama in such a little box. Link to comment

Bwahahahaha little escape artists this got to be the best feeling ever! Thanks, everyone! It was a great feeling! It's one thing for the GBG who was back there for less than a week. But the rusty goby was living back there since late December. I guess he's been living on pods, there couldn't have been too much other food since everything should have been pretty much filtered out before it got to him. Flash is so shy that I've never gotten any good pictures of him. So I took a couple while he was waiting in the container. These are probably the only clear pictures I'll ever be able to get Flash by TeenyReef, on Flickr Flash and Rock Star II by TeenyReef, on Flickr I'm going to say that's a stylo based on the retracted polyps, which stylos can do, and the structure. Thanks to both of you for the feedback and appreciation, it really helps to hear from more experienced reefers I think the only to decide for sure is to wait until it grows out some more I personally think the growth pattern looks more like a stylo. I found some good stuff on "Corals of the World" that shows differences more clearly than other pictures I've found. teenyreef
So I just realized that today is the one year birthday for this tank! Well, technically not, since I changed from one 4g tank to another a few months ago. But since the entire contents of the tank went unchanged, all I really did was change the container. All the rocks, sand, and even most of the water came over from the original tank. So as far as I'm concerned it's one year old today So I took all couple FTS shots as a present to my tank FTS with light: CADLights 4G FTS w/light - 01/23/2015 by TeenyReef, on Flickr FTS with all three fish and all three sexy shrimp! How does that happen? Rock Star II is in his rightful place, center stage, with Emerald hanging out off stage on the left. https://flic.kr/p/qUNyyT'>https://flic.kr/p/qUNyyT'>CADLights 4G FTS - 01/23/2015 by https://www.flickr.com/people/15628054@N06/'>TeenyReef, on Flickr You probably can't tell that Flash is actually in the FTS, but he's hanging out upside down under the rock right under the stylophora (or birdsnest).
