hello friends! we are in spring break here

so i've been busy with the bubs at home. :)

but i did make it into ASD today and they have

A LOT of gorgeous RFA.

i had had my eye on this peach zebra striped

from a few weeks back. it still wasn't sold!

so now it's mine! that makes FIVE flower nems

in my little 8g, friends.

she's big, at least 2 inches across. and glowed

nicely under ASD lighting. will be interesting to see

how she looks under the moon lights.

otherwise, the tank is doing well. both worms seem

to be doing all right. i'm getting overrun with sponges

(the kind that look like fingers). cleaned some of that off

today. i love getting dirty with the tank.

I love it

I think you need a flower nem intervention, but since we get to see so many pretty flower nems in your tank I'm in favor of just letting you carry on

VERY cool on all counts!!! I love chinese brush painting but have never tried it myself.

Here's one I did in January titled Shooter. It's oil, 6"x6". I've had a major creative block since the end of January and haven't painted much. I need to get back to it.

wow, that is beautiful! it is amazing!

i love it. thank you for sharing. i can never understand

how glass is rendered so perfectly, but you sure did!!

i'm taking one for the team!

I adore the new nem! That peach coloring is so unique - I'll be honest, I've never seen a peach-colored nem before. She looks lovely.

thank you, phoenix!

i hadn't either, until ASD got one in.

she's settling in nicely!

Yup, pretty in pink. NEMesis microREEF should be the name of your tank. Definitely sense some intervention coming your way lol

Awesome RFA!!! I've been eyeing on one but can't have it until my tank is rid of bryopsis but I'm winning the battle :) What happen to your dendro? it looks shrunk.

Such a pretty new anemone .

I know what your upgrade tank is going to be mostly made up of :).

thank your MR.R. i'm glad you asked about my fab dendro.

i forgot to mention. he was pissed as i had just cleaned tank,

BUT he was also pissed cause i had to scrape off the bad

parasite he's had. and i swear i've scraped off and it comes

back within ten minutes. not sure what it is but GENA had

IDed. it is gross.

i tried fresh water dipping it this week after scraping.

reappeared immediately. so today, i did an iodine dip.

only the bottom part. the parasite seems to be eating

away at the dendro though. do not like. now, there's some

flesh peeling away, i think from the dip. i hope it works and

is ok.

GOOD LUCK battling bryosis. aiiiiii

Soooo pretty!!

thank you, kimber!!

Awesome tank Cindy!

Sorry if it was covered in the thread but did you upgrade the return pump? I recently picked up a CAD 8 gallon as well and I'm trying to decide how many GPH I should aim for.

i've kept the same return pump. it was too strong, tbh.

but now it's gunked up so the flow is good. though

really, you shouldn't go by what i say. this is a beginner's

tank. hahaha

:ninja::lol: i mean, i already have FIVE. but it really depends

on if ASD gets them in stock. ;) they are just so easy and

pretty! very addictive, yes.

and i'm super gun shy about upgrading now, for sure.

the weekly tank cleanings i enjoy, but it does take time,

and i'm traveling A LOT for my book starting next week--

so i don't think an upgrade will happen this year.

 Aww... thank you! I love painting. I switch between still life and sea and sky scapes. Can't wait to see some more of your chinese brush works.

i'm SO annoyed.

the parasite is BACK on my dendro.

any advice how to kill these things?

it is pretty much only on the base of the

dendro right now, so i should be able to

spot kill.

I've gone after aiptasia by loading a syringe with boiling water & carefully dripping it onto the coral's base (never the flesh! Though I did have a merletti that recovered from getting boiled). I had a blunt tip needle syringe & tongs.

Love the peach nem! Peach!

Were you able to identify it?

i think gena and someone else

said it might be something. no def ID.

might ask ASD too.

thanks jaime!

Hydroids. I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

i thought hydroids were the wispy white

things? augh. thanks, gena.

my pink skirted pinstriped nem died. :(

i'm very sad. she never attached to rock, just

clung to the rubble. and she never ate either.

tonight, i saw her drifting toward my dendro, and i

picked her up to try and put her against rock.

her stomach had been out for at least 4 or 5 days.

and she never ate. it looks like part of her skirt

had melted (which i hadn't noticed earlier).

i better try and do a water change tomorrow. :(

aww. I'm so sorry, Cindy. she was so pretty.

thank you. i know!

she never was happy in the tank. i don't

now why. :(

I really wonder if it's a pink pinstripe/zebra thing.

Mine is barely hanging in there. Sorry about yours... :(

she was never happy. and she was big too!

i mean, at least two inches across. but she just

never behaved like any of my other RFA at all.

i couldn't see any foot damage or anything.

so i don't know. last night i just found her melty

in one part and drifting. i took her out and she

was definitely not reactive and dead. :(

Awww, I'm sorry about your nem, Cindy :flower:

thank you, john. <3 so sad.

I'm so jealous of your nems. I need to make time to drive down to SD and pick some up!

dude. buy two and it'll be worth your drive for sure.

i just went in for some water to clean up my tank.

ASD still has some sick gorgeous nems. i am down to

four, but feel fortunate i have them. thank you!

friends, i'm SO upset.

fred the yellow clown goby JUMPED. :(

i don't know when or how.

i did a MAJOR cleaning today, including taking

out a live rock that was overgrown with encrusting

sponge. the smothering kind. it came with some mushrooms

and have been impossible to get rid. i was like, out you get.

anyway, it as a huge cleaning, and fred was doing okay,

hiding. then after, i decided to feed the tank oyster feast.

fred was eating.

then i went to take a shower.

then i started cooking dinner, looked down,

and there was fred on the kitchen floor.

i got close and realized his gill was moving, so

i peeled him :( off the floor and put him in the

tank. he side swam and then wedged by the

worm plastic tub corner. he's still there.

i'm leaving him alone because he's obviously

traumatized. i don't know if he's going to make it.

i don't know how long he was out?

if since the oyster feeding, then like 40 minutes.

which seems impossible to me. but then, the lid

was on with the mesh at edges, so how?

please send good thoughts for fred.

he's the only fishie i've been able to keep.

i'm so upset. :unsure::tears:
