I've been letting them grow out again but I've got about enough for another round of sales. I can probably sell some more in a couple weeks. They'll be $15 for a golfball-sized (or larger) clump plus shipping, which runs around $15 (or a bit less) for priority mail. Want me to get in touch with you when I'm ready to sell some of it? Where are you located?

That would be awesome! I'm a sure sale when you're ready. I'm in Seattle. Thanks!!

I hope it will be ok too! It could be very irritating for the gorg!!!!! I know mine will close up even when I barely touch them and then it sometimes takes forever for it to open back up. Well, not really, but it feels that way :)

Yep...gonna go this summer. Is it a 45min ferry ride?

I haven't been there in many years, but I think they leave from Long Beach and have a couple of different ships that take you there. If I recall they do have a faster fancier ship, that you can pre order a more private breakfast with mamosas and such up in the captains lounge/helm room. Might be fun for your son, but also costs extra! :)

Well I went diving and would have loved to see a shark but didn't see a single one so I think you're safe on that front. I did see some dolphins, but no whales. Mostly we saw a ton of seals and sea lions.

Seals and sea lions out in the middle of the ocean? I would have thought they stayed closer to shore!!!!

Oh....I'll have to research that faster/fancier ship!!!! Sounds fun. Thanks for the heads up!!!!

Ok cool. I should be able to get some out to you soon. I'll get in touch with you when I'm ready to deal with shipping again. I need to go get some more heat packs.

Any new pics of frag tank

No, not at the moment. The wonderful new tank diatom bloom is happening so its looking super ugly. I'm hoping the snails will get that cleaned up soon. I'm going to clean the tank this weekend and take some more photos then.

Well they weren't out in the middle of the ocean. We saw those when we were getting closer to Catalina out swimming around. They were playing in the boat wake for a while.

That makes sense. I imagine they must swim the open water though to get from the island to the Ca. coast. Eekkk...scary. Sharks!!!! I read an article on yahoo today about a huge shark that got someone in New Zealand...yikes!

LOL Only if your in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's really a bad luck thing or a being an idiot thing when people get bit by sharks.

I want to dive with great whites so bad! Totally on my bucket list, that and the jumping sharks.

Hey! I'm about to clean the tanks now and do a bunch of fragging since I have a frag swap next weekend. If everything get happy again before the lights go out, I plan to take lots of photos. Otherwise I'll get some photos this week.

And yeah, I saw on your thread you got a tribal. Very cool looking fish! I was reading your thread on my phone and was too lazy to post. Now that I'm on my laptop I'll go back to your thread :)

Ok so I just spent like 2 hours on the tank and I'm nowhere near done getting it all cleaned up and fragging the overgrown stuff. Man, I should not have let the tank go so long. I've been busy and just doing the minimum to keep everything happy and I got behind on stuff. I'm watching The Walking Dead now and the lights go out in 40 minutes, so I'll have to finish up cleaning it tomorrow night. Then I'll get photos on Tuesday :)

I am sooooo sick of GSP. I love how it looks but it is trying to take over and I constantly have to scrape it off the rocks near my SPS area. I got behind so it took forever tonight. Even with scraping, I can never get it all so tonight I decided to cover a ton of the GSP area in epoxy to smother it. The epoxy doesn't look very good but in a couple week when its all dead underneath, I'll remove it. I figure that's the fastest way to get rid of a ton of it at once. I need to stay on top of scraping it from now on.

I also did a lot of fragging, but I still have a ton left to do. I made 2 golden egg frags and a bunch of frags off of my sour apple birdsnest. Then I ran out of plugs (hadn't realized how low I was) so I ordered more from Marine Depot. Hopefully they'll get here quickly so I can get everything else fragged. Some of my zoas are getting choked out by other ones on the big rock where they've all grown together, so I want to make frags of them to grow out in the frag tank as back ups. I ordered some of those larger round disks so that I can have mini colonies of each of my zoa types in the frag tank.

Also, I covered my fingers in superglue...I hate that... :furious:

Do you pull your rocks out to frag your zoas/palys? If not, how do you do it? Great idea with the epoxy! My brother did that with some bryopsis. Seems to be working for him. I think that sounds like the easiest solution for sure!!!!!

Love the dive pics :)

My main rock structure from the zoas/paly rock through the arch is all connected, so theres no way for me to take the rocks out of the tank. Everyone always suggests fragging zoas by removing the rock from the tank, but I don't know how so many people are able to do that. The way I frag them is by gently waving my hands over them to get them all to close up. Then I slice around the polyps I want with a scalpel. Then I work the scalpel under the edges of the mat I just cut and using a sawing motion I scrape a very thin layer of the rock from under the mat so that the whole piece lifts off without damaging the polyps. Its a pain because you have to lean over the tank at an odd angle the whole time and you have to be really delicate, but it works and you get the hang of it better after a bit.

And yeah, after leaning over the tank for an hour scraping with a scalpel and still not getting it all, I decided the epoxy was the easiest approach. I actually got the idea from your brother :)

And my awesome dive buddy gets credit for the photography skills for these photos.

You should definitely get certified. I bet you would love diving! I miss having a warm ocean (I grew up in Florida) but at least I'm still near the water and awesome diving.

No I would be more then willing to get into open water as long as it was a docile shark. Your going to die sometime, why not have it be by something as beautiful as a shark! LMAO J/K but honestly I would totally open water dive with Whites. B)

I frag my zoas in tank too, same exact way PITA but doesn't stress them as much I think and then I just grab the little frag with tweezers and stick it into the glue.

Sorry bout your fingers, that sucks I hate glue on my fingers. :furious:

Glad to hear someone else does it the same way. And yeah, superglue sucks. I've been peeling it off of my fingers all day.

This is for you and Gena regarding swimming with great whites without a cage :)

I saw that article and want to go find her and go swimming too. Totally awesome I would be so willing to do that.

Yeah its pretty amazing. She is a very brave woman and those are some very tolerant sharks.

Love those dive pics!!!!

If you can.....save me a godlen egg.........

Thanks! My dive buddy gets credit for those.

I can definitely save you a frag! I was going to take 1 to the swap this weekend and hold onto the other one, so I'll keep that one for you. It definitely needs to heal up but then I could ship it out to you.

I'm going to dip a bunch of my frags in H2O2, per Maria. Then they will be ready. Maybe I'll send both of you guys out at the same time...... :scarry::scarry::scarry::scarry::scarry::scarry:

What the????? Ummmm...wow! Luck has been on her side....so far ;) Don't do it, Randi!!!! :D

Yeah, I think that woman is really pushing her luck. She's trying to advocate for protecting sharks, which I think is great but they're predators and grabbing their fins doesn't seem like a great idea. I think observing them from a distance and appreciating them without irritating them is probably the better approach.

I got the frag plugs I ordered from Marine Depot today. The box showed up this morning so I was opening it and getting out my bags of plugs and I grabbed one of the bags and there was a HUGE spider stuck in the bag with the plugs! That was an unexpected surprise. Lily was going nuts because she's not a huge fan of spiders. I ended up smushing it in the bag, so now when I get my plugs out I'm going to have a dead spider body in there. Ick!
