Needreefunds
Ah ok, cool! I'm still new to this whole 'sump' thing. So many toys that can be used in conjunction with it! Fun tho, innit? Can't wait to see some wet water! Working with poly is all kinds of fun. I've been known to be pretty OCD with the stuff. I think that I once used five coats of poly on a piece of furniture I built, just to get the 'proper' finish look! Well, I almost made a huge mistake. I started hitting the top with poly. I noticed the stir stick- as luck would have it I used the same stick I used to stir the stain, I just flipped it over- and I really liked the dark color. I dabbed some poly over that, then looked at the patch I started and decided the stand needs another coat of stain. I called in the girls ( wife and daughter lol ) and they agreed. So I just finished the second coat of stain and what an awesome difference. What a shame it would have been had I not noticed. Such a nice deep-rich color now. No sense rushing at this point, and I won't. IF it doesn't happen this weekend, fine. Worst case I have the family over for turkey and they all help me aqua-scape. Gotta love dem fumes! Just remember, don't inhale. Now, what fun would that be?? Link to comment

Yeah, a lot can change depending on how thick you apply the stain, how long you let it sit, how much sanding was done beforehand, etc. Good job catching it before the poly was put on though! Worst case I have the family over for turkey and they all help me aqua-scape. Aquascaping, a family affair! Now, what fun would that be?? True.... it was good enough for Clinton though. ap123
The stand looks rich, Richie. As for the canopy, it's up to you. No doubt you can do it, and do it well. I guess the question is how much you enjoyed building the stand. Sorry about the MRI, glad it's finished for you. My daughter had one on Monday; no, not fun. Link to comment

Thanks all, really feels good to get such positive feedback. And i really have enjoyed this build. After getting past the " dang errythings a mess in here " stage, it was fun. I hope all is well with your daughter Anne. Link to comment
Militant Jurist
Given the way your stand is turning out, I really think you should build a canopy to match. It would really be the icing on the cake. Link to comment
