TheKingInYellow Posted February 1, 2009 Author Share Posted February 1, 2009 Okay, job one is done. I have wired in the GFCI. To make things confusing, this outlet had two circuits wired, so I had extra wires. Here's hoping I didn't do something really retarded. Any electricians out there? The box is in the middle of a circuit, so I had white, black (hot) and red (hot) line, and a white, black (hot) and red (hot) load. All three were pigtailed together to provide power further down the circuit, and the old outlet was wired up with red to white for the top outlet and black to white on the bottom outlet. So I just hooked up the black and white to the GFCI and left the red pigtailed. As far as I can tell, all I did was take the red circuit out of this outlet, otherwise it's basically wired up the same except that the load and line pass through the GCFI instead of just being pigatiled together. God I hope this is right... Link to comment
