"P" mode stands for "Program".

When in P mode you are using what ever settings you have set your self, or that are present in stock configuration.

"TV" is shutter speed priority.

"AV" is aperture priority.

"M" is manual focus.

M is full manual, not manual focus. you control aperture and shutter speed.

I wouldn't buy a digital camera of this caliber on Craigs list unless they paid me to come and get it.

I've been very happy with the Nikons I've purchased (d70 and d200.) I second B&H for the camera purchase.

D90 is coming out soon with HD video. I'd save for that one.

Naturescapes.net has good prices on other equipment-sometimes better than B&H.

To bad that video recording on the D90 doesnt have any autofocus and also has a nasty amount of shutter roll when moving the camera around.

Of what caliber? It's a crappy little consumer DSLR, lol.

Besides, it's fairly easy to tell if a camera works or not, just take a few photos and scroll through settings.

the idea of video on a DSLR is pretty cool, having a video camera with interchangeable lenses sounds way badass to me and would make for some interesting amateur nature videography (or other situations where the camera is not moving for the D90)

that new 5D has some awesome video capabilities and if video was important that would be the current better pick

on the other hand, Im not interested in video at all, so that is irrelevant

and btw, the D90 has been out for a while now and is in stock at bh http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/5804...tal_Camera.html

yea the 5D II does 1080p and its shutter roll seems to be controlled ALOT better and not as noticable as in the D90 plus it has autofocus

Is the 5D Mark II already out?

I would certainly hope that the video on the 5D Mark II would be better than the D90! Little different class of camera there...

DUH....its 1080 vs 720.

the camera is not even in the same class!

the D90 will get A LOT more attention than the 5D mark II because its half the price.

yes until you start using it with faster movment and wont wanna use it at all cause it will look like everything is bending. Seems to me Nikon rushed it out just to get it in the camera. Anyway its a still camera I cant see the need for this movie feature anyway. Home made porn will go up alot I bet

dont really see anything bending in the sample vids i saw. not sure what you were referring to. got a vid that displays bending?

also, you probably dont think vid in a dslr is a good idea, the general consumer population will find the feature a nice touch. they have a dslr AND a near professional video recorder feature where it shoots in HD and interchangeable lens. killing 2 bird with one stone, who wouldnt want one

5 min at a time at the highest resolution, 20 minutes for medium and low resolution. You can start another movie right after if you have the space. I just picked up my D90 today. The video is cool but its the other things like super low noise, ultra adjustable white balance and active D-lighing that have me the most excited.

Congrats on your purchase. You gotta love that screen on the back of the D90, it is GORGEOUS, with ONE TO ONE pixel to sensor when you zoom in!! Also gotta love that you can use a lot of cheap oldies but goodies (lenses) on the Nikons!

I am not overly impressed with the D90 video nor would I buy a DSLR because it had video. However I think the idea is not terrible. There have been a number of times when I was shooting my little one when he started doing goofy things that would have been cool to push a button and video what he was doing without having to grab a camcorder. I have a FujiFilm P&S that has video that I use more than the camcorder. It is small and does a really good job.

Congrats. Post some pics from that thing. I have not really read anything bad about the camera. Everyone really seems impressed with it. And the pictures I have seen on the net have been really nice.
