Very cool tank! I love the scape; where did you get the rocks? And do you have something growing in the filter?

Thank you.

You probably are going to lough...... Rocks come from Michael's art craft store. If you wander why, well..... No real reason but few benefits in this particular setup.

• Dwarf gobies are notorious, pod munching hunters. Pods have more chances of survival/reproduction with larger grain sand or gravel/pebble rocks. Simply speaking, there are more places for them to hide. Unfortunately, there is no refugium to provide safe heaven for pods in this setup.

• Another fun fact about dwarf gobies is that most of those gobies don't have the need for sand bed like their more common sand sifting gobies.

Since they usually perch on corals and rocks, these rock pebbles actually work better. That enables them to chill in any part of tank they like ....

without getting into territorial dispute.

• And last but not least, easy maintenance.

As to answer to your last question, no. I am not growing anything in filter compartment (I believe those decorating sticks and grass could have tricked you lol ). Media used is basic Seachem Matrix Bio Filtration media and Seachem Carbon + filter floss.

Tank is topped off daily. Water change twice a week. One gallon midweek and two gallons on weekend. Light dosing of calcium and alkalinity buffer + bacteria to replenish bio-filtration needs. Light cycle is 12 hrs per day. There is another filtration stage in the works but it isn't ready yet.

I will update this thread when I can with additional information about these amazing gobies and provide more links in original post regarding basic reefkeeping, cuc, parasites and pests.

Thank you for interest and I hope others will take interest in keeping dwarf gobies.

Super cute!!! Do you need more GSP? Also POTO has the smallest cutest Panda Goby in stock. The thing is barely 1/4 inch long.

I am good on GSP. Actually had to remove two large chunks from my 16 gal as they were overtaking valuable space.

For some reason, GSP is doing better in this tank. Less flow, less light, dirtier water must suit it just fine. Panda is super cute. However, since I don't have a lot to work with, only less common gobies interest me atm. I am patiently waiting for upcoming Mr.Aqua tank. Only then I can think about expending my goby collection. Thanks

Mr. Microscope

Really neat concept! Love the biotope aspect of it. How long has it been running?

One thing to note, I think those polished black stones may contain Iron. Keep an eye out for rust forming on them.

I LOVE IT! What a great showcase for your gobies . I'll definitely be following along :).

Thank you Gena. Love your gobies as well.

It didn't cross my mind but I'll definitely watch those pebbles closer.

System been running for months. However, it was only recently cleaned up and converted to goby tank (about 3 weeks ago). Prior to this, it was my dedicated pest/chaeto tank.

Those guys are so cute! Awesome tank too.

Where did you get them? I'm thinking about doing something similar.

Very cool tank

Thank you. Got all my gobies (including eviota in my other tank) from Manhattan Aquariums. As far as I know they get them from Unique Corals.

They come in without any description other then dwarf gobies. And they never know what species will come in next shipment. Which makes trips to their store that much more interesting. There isn't much I want to add to scape, unless I can find rare xenia( or Blue Cespitularia) that I could glue to the filter wall. It would give a bit of a movement and natural form of filtration. Interesting mushrooms, green zoas or rare macro algae could also be an option.

$1000+ goby. Whitecap Goby Lotilia graciliosa. Extremely rare and collectable. Rarity in US and mostly sold in Japan. Distributor of these gobies is unknown. Cebu is probable origin. Only few per year make it to the market. And they sell quickly for $1000+ . Cheapest one was sold for $100 but it was only 1cm long.

That's cool, who'd of thought that a 1" fish could sell for so much. These nano-gobies are neat.

I know right. ... But still budget buy in comparison to most expensive fish I have seen. Lol

Updated with new CUC urchin, clams, cucumbers etc guide link.

Also purchased twin Colochirus Robustus cucumbers. One for each tank. However, 12" cube goby tank isn't mature enough for one of these guys. When I feel that it is safe, it sure will make its way to goby cube. These super cute, bright yellow cucumbers grow up to 4 inches (probably less in not so optimal setting). And should be considered dwarf cucumbers due to their relatively tiny size. How suited. ................

I wish I could pause that gif when it gets to the full tank shot!!!!!! Looks awesome!!!!

It is my other tank. Since it is also a home to two other dwarf gobies, I figured that glimpse of it wouldn't hurt as I am definitely not starting another tank thread. Lol

I will post some pics as soon as I get home from work.

Thank you for stopping by DG lover.

Dwarf gobies are so cool! before this thread, I didn't know of anything smaller than a clown goby.

Keep it coming!

Yes they are. Plenty of species to choose from. Huge gamma of color and personalities. And I honestly hope more nano reefers catch up with dwarf possibilities. It is hard to imagine better suited fish for small nano tanks. Tanks that are usually stocked with fish too large to be truly happy. And thrive as it should.

Yes, I will keep this thread alive. Not just for my enjoyment but for others who might be interested in dwarf gobies.

As a side note. I found distributor who sells a bunch of different kinds of dwarfs. There is only one problem...... minimum purchase has to be at least $600. Perhaps future group buy if interest is strong enough to commit to such a purchase.
