That's no joke.  The only other person online I know who went through that (ie verified high CO2 levels like yours...then HVAC changes) reported an IMMEDIATE difference in how they slept/felt.  CO2 is fertilizer if you're a coral.  Not so much for us!!

On my nano each year?  While I do not keep track of it, I would guess not even $200 a year and probably less.  I don't have any fish at the moment and am happy with the corals I got.  Some of which were free.  

 

Equipment wise, I bought a $230 tank as part of an upgrade and a (used) $200 (ish, cant remember for sure) light and that the most I've ever spent.  Previous tank was around $75 and light was around $100.

Make the right relationships with your lfs and if you can grow your coral, the tank can pretty much pay for its own operating cost.

You probably should see what he can, and is growing…..

 

I might have said I spent roughly 1K a year, but I also made ~500 last year right before Xmas from coral sales, both direct with other local hobbyists or in LFS credits.  This year Im probably breaking even so far.
