Tamberav
Lots of algae means lots of snail and urchin poops… Starting a siphon is gross… 4 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Critteraholic
OMG My sympathies. As you know, my tank crashed and I needed to suck death out. I sucked too hard and got a mouthful of death. Death got on the floor as I ran for the sink and Listerine. 🥴 3 2 3 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
Why not just lift the tube full of water out of your tank, pinch the hose to slow the flow and then re-submerge it? That'll still start a siphon every time. 1 3 Quote Link to comment

A.m.P
In fairness nearly any amount of water is enough, but also yeah I was talking about some kind of snake/python. 1 Quote Link to comment

I think I am challenged as I can never seem to get a siphon started with just a hose. I don’t have one of those squeeze bulbs tho. 3 Quote Link to comment

You could grab one of those fuel siphon starters for gas mowers and such off amazon for like $3, a local hardware store might have them too, they'll do the job just fine (especially since it's always going one way lol) 1 Quote Link to comment

Actually surprised the HOB filter I put on it hasn’t pulled the side of the tank off. 3 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
DIY a siphon with a plastic bottle and spare airline? https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.instructables.com/How-to-make-a-syphon-without-getting-anything-in-y/%3famp_page=true 1 1 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
I might try finding a squeeze bulb that fits. Or just keep eating snail poop 🤢😲😳😝 Here are some updates of my little algae poo box Coral trying to come back. There is another red and green favia looking thing but it’s aimed towards the back sorta… little odd nem Nems look happy I need to glue and organize corals at some point. 5 3 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
One terrible blue photo of my saron shrimp who finally decided to show his mug! Maybe he’s finally settling in! I will call him Bugzy 5 1 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Glad I am not the only one who is kinda slow in this contest. I added an emerald crab yesterday to attack the long algae the snails don’t like and she is doing her job! She shows herself when the heavy blues come on. This guy likes I make me pull my hair out. He will be right out in a perfect spot for a photo. I get my phone and he is off creeping around a corner on me…. 😤 A bunch of odd nems! 5 1 Quote Link to comment
Ratvan
Got some really beautiful oddities in there, especially some of those Anemone's 1 Quote Link to comment
A.m.P
You got one of the "pretty" majano's, downright gorgeous. 2 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
That emerald crab was the last nail in the algae coffin! No magic potions! Just cuc, water changes, and time. Also the tuxedo has a mushroom hat 😛 With the algae gone, I need to pick out some corals to add… 5 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
Reminder of the algae I had a month ago. So nice and tidy and clean now 🙂 4 1 Quote Link to comment

Tamberav
Traded someone some pink tip majanos and he sent me a boatload of nems! More boremans and purple tip manano and a majano with a purple center. They still acclimating. 5 1 Quote Link to comment
Tamberav
The nems have settled in and here is how the tank looks now. It also houses a Sharknose goby. He is here under observation before hitting the big tank. I added a little bit of pink Xenia. A pest coral but adds some nice color. I would like to add something red or orange and yellow as I am missing those colors. Maybe mushrooms or zoas. I think the emerald may eat red macro If I added it. I spy a emerald crab claw in the 2nd photo... 🔎 5 3 Quote Link to comment

kimdawg
Very realistic slice of the ocean. Glad you got rid of your algae, that plagued me at times also. Good luck in the contest. 1 Quote Link to comment
Snow_Phoenix
The majanos are the best bit! Is Bugzy the saron shrimp still in there? 1 Quote Link to comment
