Started doing by-weekly water changes instead. There's no need to do weekly since parameters stay good anyway. Only 2 small clown fish living there so there isn't much waste. The milky water disappeared with that as well. Maybe it's just the simple cause of 'don't fix what isn't broken'. Leaving the tank alone for as much as possible and it takes care of itself.

Looks like you are off to a good start!

Early on with these smaller systems there is the temptation to 'let it do it's thing' which is fine for a while, but watch out for signs of waste buildup and substrate clogging around the 8 - 15 month mark (climbing nitrates, cyanobacteria and pest algae blooms).  Sand bed vacuuming/detritus removal along with consistent water changes will go a long way in keeping the nutrient inputs/outputs balanced, the substrate bacteria productive and the system healthy.

Vacuming when I do water change. 🙂 It's so simple to do at the same time since the siphon is there anyway. The leather was down for a week-ish but now it's in full bloom again, stronger than ever.
