Ahanix
The absolutely stunning, beautiful, meticulously put together tanks, surrounded by a rats nest of cables strung all over the place, tangled chords, and steel cable lines hanging to the floor from being too lazy to cut them. Seriously, you spend hundreds of hours a month staring at your tank, not to mention thousands of dollars. If you contribute to the forum, and consider yourself an "enthusiast" take half the time you spend making sure your rock and coral is in the absolute most perfect space possible and clean up your cables!!!!!! Nobody wants to see this behind, on or around your tank: This however, is almost as appealing as the actual display: Link to comment

I am so, so, so, guilty of this offence, however I have been trying to get the cables of my pico in order. I got one of those plastic wrap things to go around the cables. Halo, I want to see that pic. Sounds like a pretentious douche bag. Winter is really starting to grind my gears. Link to comment

aquarium
I don’t mind people asking stupid questions, because they can learn and they may not have had an opportunity to know a lot of things. What really grinds my gears is people who say "oh you cant have a salt-water tank, you’re only in 8th grade, your parents must do all the work" or people at the LFS looking at me and saying "these are salt-water fish, you know" Oh, and Hair algae, I really hate that stuff! WhiteWulfe
What grinds my gears is I ~just~ found out about Red Bull's Crashed Ice being in my back yard essentially..... And I've been driving past the construction for the past month..... I just figured the crane and several flatbed trucks were there for the eighteen million other bits of construction going on by the Shaw Conference Center.... Aquarium related... When salespeople at local fish stores look at me weird because I want to run two filters (hob+canister) on my planted tanks.. I suppose a more saltwater related one is when I go into an LFS and start asking questions, and when they ask what I know and I say "I've researched the basics" they then assume it means I've researched nothing... Makes sense, but they don't have to continue to treat the person as if they're an idiot when they provide three paragraph answers to their first few questions, including a detailed explanation of things like the nitrogen cycle and what particular equipment they were looking at, and what seems like a sensible stocking list. Then again, that LFS was one that had a display tank completely riddled with aiptasia and bubble algae (in the clearly visible overflow anyways, the display was clean *rolls eyes*), and a quick glance into their live rock holding tanks shows an entire WALL of bubble algae on the tiles. Mmm, always wanted something free when I eventually purchase live rock, but pretty sure it wasn't a ton of pests Sounds like I need to work on my wording, and instead of saying "the basics" figure out a way to answer the question that isn't a five minute (yet still beginner's in my opinion) reply. I say beginners since even in freshwater my usual reply to that kind of question is "enough to get myself into trouble, but usually enough to get out of it" since at present my planted tanks are low tech (will eventually be CO2 with proper ferts, at least if I keep a freshwater tank). amphipod
Another thing I hate, homework, and my teachers 97% of the time. And the students. School sucks. All you adults remember this you never want to be less than 18. It is a curse I am forced to suffer every day of my life. I can't wait to have a job, pay my bills, drive my car, sleep in my own house, make all my own food, not deal with teachers, have a boss, get a paycheck, and other adulthood fun. Link to comment

Enjoy what you've got while you have it. that's exactly what I want, work that gives me some money from a job I decide on, a boss who will have his grouch moments and tantrums and fireing threats but for understandable reasons since his work is more stressful than mine, and coworkers constantly trying to make me look bad but I will do my best to treat them good. Adulthood has so many advantages, trust me if your over 18 you're lucky. Link to comment

Oh god I used to think the same way, I'm now 36 have a couple kids etc....not a day goes by that I don't tell them to stay young as long as they can and enjoy every minute of it. I was in highschool when one of my neighbors told me to enjoy highschool, it will be some of the best times of my life. I laughed it off... Now I look back and couldn't agree more. Adulthood isn't as great as you youngsters think it is. Link to comment
