Just some photos I took last night. No real update on the elegance yet. Still in QT and looking rough.

Ohhh yaaa the ugly sump!

I really wish these two would move off the glass so I could see them but they do look good from above!

This was a small polyp that bailed out a year or two ago and I glued to a frag plug. It's up to two mouths now.

So the elegance didn't make it. After a few weeks in QT and getting a fwd and a few dips in iodine it just kept receding and receding. Oh well.

Thankfully my LFS is awesome and gave me my credit back so I picked up a brain coral, magician zoa frag and another rock flower...I love these things. The next tank will have a garden for sure. Might get there yet in this one I suppose. 😄

Anyway here are the newbies.

New yellow/lime green rfa. Would really like to get the four of them to group up together.

Here is the new trachy brain. A nice teal blue. Have had it for a little over a week now and it's doing great!

And another FTS.

You tank is so full and beautiful. It has a pastel theme imo. Ill have to read back on what happened to your elegance coral. I had one years ago that was just beautiful. Definitely the center piece of my tank. But it got way too big fast.

Thank you very much for the kind words! Yeah it definitely does have a pastel theme to it, lots of greens! (cheaper corals ha) Also need to get better at taking pictures, I struggle to get the light settings right with the Reef Breeders light.

The elegance I picked up a few weeks ago and when I got it home I could tell it was doing worse than we thought in the store. Pretty sure it had the normal elegance coral syndrome where they just kind of give up on life it seems. Tried to save it but didn't want to make it. Might try one again one day if I can be sure it is from Australia and will probably watch it a bit longer in the store. Would love a nice full one where the brain coral is now.

So the days of the 29 gallon are drawing to a close. I bought a house recently and will be moving in early May. With the move out of an apartment comes the freedom to upgrade! Currently I am thinking about moving to a IM EXT 50, Reefer 250 or a Waterbox Marine x90.3. I am also not 100% what I plan on doing rock and livestock wise. My 29 is a bit over 6 years old now and my rocks and some corals are rather "infested" with vermetid snails and micro brittle stars. I think I have an idea of what I want to do but looking to see if this makes sense.

1) I plan on fragging my big corals, frogspawn, birdsnest, duncan and candy cane. I will clean those up as best I can and sell to cover the new tank purchase. I will also go about cleaning and dipping all the corals I am keeping and then put into a temporary frag tank, where I can watch them and kill off any of the snails I missed.

2) I only have 3 fish, two clowns and a dottyback, unfortunately my clown goby passed a few weeks ago around 6 years old. I may put them into their own tank for a bit too and QT and treat them since the bigger clown was not originally quarantined and I would like to do so with new fish going forward.

3) I will put all of my rocks into a tub with a pump and keep them in the dark for about a month. How long do you think I would need to do this to kill off the snails and stars? Going from a 29 to a 50+ gallon I will probably get some more dry rock but would like to reuse this rock if I can as some of the pieces I have had for 10 years now. I know I can go ahead and scrub them and bleach them but would rather not kill off all the life, just the pests.

Do these steps make sense? Basically will have the tank down for a month or two while I kill off the pests and wait for the new tank to arrive. Will be doing kind a soft restart since I want to use the rock and will have a decent amount of corals and frags ready to go.

Well I've moved into my new house but the tank is still in the apartment ha. It's been a busy few days and I'm hoping to get everything moved over soon. I've been driving by to feed them every day (only a few min down the road) and everything is looking okay. I lost one clown right before the move. She stopped eating for a week and then after almost 3 weeks in QT and still not eating I decided to euthanize. When I went to feed the tank today my other clown, the male, didn't come out to eat so I don't know what's going on. Hopefully I'll get him and the dottyback into QT in the next day or two.

The big news is that I picked up this bad boy today (fat cat for scale). Needs a good cleaning but it should look great afterwards. A few scratches along the sand line but for the price I'll take it!

Is that a RedSea 250?

Yep! About to start a new build thread for it. Got a good deal on it and will be able to use my same light so that's nice.
