Ya I thought this one through (probably over-thought, as I do with everything!) but have to agree there. One or two fish, not worth the time IMO. If I was stocking more, I would definitely QT. It never hurts, but in this case I rather not.

Yeah, the issue is introducing Ick to other fish in your tank but as you don't have any others in there, I wouldn't worry about it. The worse that could happen is that you have one fish then get a second and they both die from ick. Sure it's a setback but you haven't lost much. Now if you have a large tank full of fish and introduce ick... Ouch! If you get 1 fish now and decide on a second in a few months, you could always QT the second just to be sure but don't bother with the first fish.

At least I can see that I'm not the only one that never sleeps and farts around on the forums all night. lol

Wonder if they ship to US...

I told you I would update, but stinkin' AngelFins (who only ships within Canada) sent me the clear one, when I ordered the white. Just FYI, the clear version makes it nearly invisible. Meaning, you can't even read it! Something else to keep in mind is since it's Japanese, it is in Celsius. ADA does make a Fahrenheit version, but only in clear.

I would not recommend clear unless you have your tank with no BG, against a very light wall.

I can post some pics this weekend if you want, but you probably won't be able to make it out ZRO!

You should contact them to see if they ship to US. I'm sure they would but it may be a bit more $. Let me know, and tell them that Jordon sent ya ;)

So true. I would love to QT everything all the time, but for god's sake, I need something in there. I guess a small risk i'm willing to take! LOL.

Hehe, well i'll be off to bed soon, but only because I have to work tomorrow <_< I only get Sunday off this weekend, so it's going to be a busy day with fish stuff.

so when is there going to be life in this tank?

Hopefully Sunday!

How many more weeks till the cycle is done?

Cycle is done my friend! I am just waiting until Sunday to go to the LFS to add some much needed life to the tank (besides microscopic bacteria)

Jordan, how long did it take for your tank to complete the cycle? Seems like a fast process to me.

Have you taken out an insurance policy on your tank yet? j/k

I see. Sounds good mate.

Indeed. I just hope they have a good selection :) It varies from week to week.

I would say about 3 weeks. Unfortunately my ELOS Ammonia test kit was a dud, and wouldn't read ammonia, but judging my Nitrie and Nitrate readings, I can say with much certainty that is completed within about 3 weeks. It's been just over a month since i got it wet altogether though. This was from 100% dry rock and CaribSea "Live Sand".

After getting an API test kit to test Ammonia, I dosed some Ammonium Chloride to 1ppm just to make sure I actually had nitrifying bacteria (which I did!) then waited until Ammonia and Nitrite was at 0 (about 2 days later) and then I started dosing ZEObak, and ZEOstart3 for added bacterial diversity.

More info is through the thread (which is growing quick!) But it may help if you are looking to do something similar :)

Only if it covered fish suicide. :P

I'm going to wait on updates to the PicO until it is cycled and the Solana is wet and scaped and started it's cycle. I got the go-ahead tonight from Adam for the $500 budget so I'm going to start buying up pieces. Already messaged a local guy about a used kessil 150w deep ocean w/ gooseneck for 150$, no shipping.

I hear what you're saying about the clear vs white - The hydra aquatics one I bought is off by about 5° and impossible to read since it's clear. I'll save the website and update you when I get around to calling them, though!

I plan to. :) I am still having fin testing out the different modes. I have very sensitive hearing, so I wouldn't be running this mode all the time. I did today to test it out, and also I basted down my rocks for a bit of diatoms that showed up, and it cleared my water in about 20 minutes to crystal clear! (Also attributed to filter pad)

It's an awesome setting before a water change. It really gets the juices flowin' :D

Still deciding on a coral that has some movement. I was thinking maybe a pink torch like Deckoz wants.

The wave isn't huge though. I have it at 60%, but it does kiss the rim of the tank. Short Pulse mode is more for the waves. Nutrient transport is a mix between that and constant.

I see. You should definitely get a gold torch. It has a tint of purple.

Will provide lots of swaying in the picO.

Please make a video when the tank is under the mini wave mode. I've seen some videos with corals under the wave mode and it looked amazing.

I'm in on a torch coral, get a neon green one though!

Just using the stock return in my PicO S I seems like more then enough flow for the tank, btw (incase any/all of you were thinking of getting one for a species tank, which you should.) I think a single full spectrum Par38 could easily cover it. Throw in some carbon and baby we got a stew goin...

Excellent. I hope they pull though. If their service yesterday was any indication, they should :)

I will for sure make a video. I will thinking of copying Deckoz' idea, and getting a pink torch. It will really pop under the full spectrum of the Razor. We'll see though.

Very true. I have to say that right now I am disappointed in the quality though. I have lived here all my life and experienced the dreaded 'runoff season' but this year is exceptionally bad. I won't even drink the water. I guess I am also highly sensitive to the smell and taste, but for now Dasani is my friend :P

I just wanted to post saying how amazing the service at Aquariums West is. It's a small Canadian store/online shop in Vancouver that carries mostly an assortment of Planted tanks and accessories. I ordered an ADA Thermometer, after AngelFins sent me the wrong one.

I seen that shipping was coming up at over $30 for a thermometer, which I thought was "off" to say the least so decided to email them. I received a response not even 20 minutes later saying basically that it was a glitch and they agreed that it was extremely frustrating.

Not only did they offer to ship it to me for free, but are also giving me a free "Book of ADA" I know it's all planted tanks, but damn this is as good as porn for us Aquarists... :P

The owner responded to my emails, and I just had to mention it! It's so rare to find truly amazing customer service!

I have been in the store and met the owner several times, can't remember his name but he has had the store for a long time. Aquariums West has almost everything ADA puts out "in store". Last time I was in there I was looking at a ADA tank, around $900, ouch. They also carry DoAqua tanks which I think are made by ADA just with regular glass, not sapphire. It's a cool store but mainly carries fresh water supplies. There salt water is very limited. I've only bought a few things from him but happy all around.

Haha, NP.

Lol j your awesome :)

Why thank you good sir! I actually was inspired when you did it, so thank you  You're right though when you commented in Mstefa's thread, it doesn't seem like much is worthy, so I figured okay more of a Photo Table of Contents :P

Hello all. I used the light you link to above. I really liked it. It is great for small spaces. A word of caution with that light. My light started burning out bulbs every month after about three months. I think the seal around the wire that goes to the bulb loosened and it leaked a slight amount of moisture into the bulb space. I saw condensation on the inside of the glass dome. Be VERY careful when handling the light not to loosen that seal. Had I known I may have dolloped some marine safe silicone on that seal. It may have prolonged the life of the light.

Mine came in a couple days ago, and the box actually had a warning against bending the power cable near the base of the light. It appears that this is a problem they are aware of, but simply added a warning instead of fixing the defect.

So far the light output of the light is strong, I definitely wouldn't want a second one. However, it remains to be seen whether it positively affects growth. I definitely wouldn't put more than one per compartment in your tank JDH.
