Rocket
Nice light. I have the big brother. I like 3-4 inches. But watch your temperatures. PC's still put out some heat. Hanging is the best way to go. What PC bulbs do you have stock? They look stock actinic 03 and a 7300 blue bulb. I went only Actinic 03 with 10k ushio. Did that for fast growth. Try a reeflux 20k or some 14k bulb. Link to comment

The bulbs say that they are 50/50 460/420 bulbs. I was definitely going to try a 14k first. Link to comment
Kylebeano
New light has been up for a few days with a brand new 14k current bulb. I have it hanging from a sliding track, kind of like Stoney Waters's set-up. I traded my two large leathers for it, so it looks empty to me. I also took most of the SPS from my 7g and put it in here now. That 7g is a death tank, I cant keep much of anything nice alive. Hopefully the aquapod will help these corals rebound. ...Oh, and 3/4 of my suncorals died. f*** Link to comment
treygarz
just picked up a nice sun coral today and have been getting a lot of information on how to feed them. Is there any good advice that you can give? Thanks! Link to comment
Kylebeano
just picked up a nice sun coral today and have been getting a lot of information on how to feed them. Is there any good advice that you can give? Thanks! For mine, I would place a cube of coral food mix in the tank to stimulate the polyps to come out. Then I would turn off all the pumps and target feed mysis and brine to as many of the heads as I could. If I overfed, the corals would later regurgitate everything in their stomach, so there is a posibility of overfeeding and the corals not getting enough nutrition. I fed them every day for a couple months, then every other day for the next few months, and now I am feeding them a couple times a week. They were most healthy when I fed them every day. Hope any of that helps, good luck! Link to comment
Kylebeano
I thought it was finally time for an anemone. I chose a rock flower because I dont have clownfish and ive heard they dont move around very much. I also got it for $10 from my LFS. While I was there I grabbed a healthy looking green slimer. Kylebeano
Im starting to transfer livestock from my 7g. Would a small yellow sand sifting cucumber from the small tank and my black sea cucumber already in the aquapod cause any problems? I might try in the invertibrate section later if no one can answer here. Thanks! Link to comment
treygarz
nice looking anemone!!! And thanks for the info on the sun corals. I haven't gotten them to fully open up yet. But I assume with time and more feedings they will! Thanks again! Link to comment
gulfsurfer101
That tank looks good, that's also a nice looking light you have over it. Link to comment
Kylebeano
nice looking anemone!!! And thanks for the info on the sun corals. I haven't gotten them to fully open up yet. But I assume with time and more feedings they will! Thanks again! They will open up when theyre hungry enough. Generally, suncorals will open at night if not trained to open during the day. So you might want to try feeding at night first. And thank you about the anemone, ive wanted a nice rock flower for a while, morgan from the reef gardener used to have really beautiful rock flowers, and when I saw this one at my LFS I offered them $10 and they practically gave it to me. That tank looks good, that's also a nice looking light you have over it. Thanks! Im finally there along all you others' with MH. I need to catch up with sps growth though! Link to comment
treygarz
WOW $10 offer and they took it! Wish my LFS was that kind! Great steal! Link to comment

Kylebeano
Im having troubles with cyano right now I replaced my phosphate remover, added some chemipure, and have been siphoning as much of it as possible during the 20% weekly water changes. Its still back strong though. I might shorten the photo period an hour or two next. Ive also been contemplating adding some more macro-algae directly into the sandbed where the cyano is. Any good ideas on a nice looking algae? Ive been leaning towards some feather calupra. Anyway, here are some updated pictures. My photography skills are slacking. I havnt spent much time practicing with the camera, and havnt even tried adjusting the camera to the new light yet. Ill have to take a day off and dedicate it to tinkering around with the camera sometime. Thanks for looking! Link to comment
Kylebeano
New chalice, its hot pink, but I couldnt get my camera to capture it well. Link to comment

Kylebeano
Well, a reefer a few hours north of me is breaking down her tanks and so I thought I would stop by. Christie gave me a huge gold-n-red koko worm with a dozen or so true PPEs and an ORA pearlberry or some other ORA pearlberry looking frag attatched to the tube....for $75! I also picked up a dozen or so rainbow palys from her for another $25. Then I went to a LFS she recomended and bought a pink milli. It was a good day minus the eight hours of driving. Ill post some pictures when the corals are looking nice. Link to comment
Gerber77
Damn that seems so worth it for 8 hours of driving, your tank is looking awesome. I cant wait to see the new pictures of the coral. Link to comment

Kylebeano
Very nice that tank looks magnificent, all those shots are great. Thank you, I try not to show the cyano covering almost everything! These are some incredible pictures that you've posted. That anemone looks awesome! Thanks, I had my heart set on a rock flower after seeing a couple morgan (reefgardener) had for sale. Then my LFS had this guy in with a couple brown ones and said Ill take it for $10. Here are some better shots. The PPE are starting to open up and I was able to spot feed everything with phyto. Kylebeano
My cleaner shrimp seems ill. It isnt acting normal at all, it'll swim loops in the water column before settling down anywhere he lets up on its side while letting azzhole hermits clip and munch on his antenae? I tried doing a little research and it might be an alk level prob, which I can agree with since my calcium is way too high right now. I just did a water change, maybe that'll help. It looks like there are black spots around his mouth and below its eyes, along with cateracts on its eyes. Poor fella. The PPE are doing really well. I fragged 3 of them, and now im going to wait for them to heal on the disc and open nicely. I want to trade them or sell for a skimmer lol. Pics. Link to comment

I like having a large photo catalogue of my tank. Thank you, I just got rid of all the cyano, so when I have more time ill set up the tripod and take some better pics of everything lol. Kylebeano
Im leaning towards attributing my shrimps unusual behavior to gettting its antenae stung by the anemone. I feel aweful about it. Link to comment
