TinyGiant
if anyone feels so inclined.. my band is trying to raise money for recording. even a $1 donation would help. I know my efforts here have saved everyone a bunch of money. if you feel like giving back a little we would be very appreciative of any donations. the goal is $3000 in 60 days. if we dont raise the entire 3000 none of the donors get charged and we dont get a dime. so we are really pushing to try to get this done so we can record our album professionally here is the link: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/vessel...album?ref=users if not.. no biggie. still glad everyone is saving electricty, money and hassle with these leds i also wanted to mention I noticed gracelighting has a new listing where you can pick color and optic angle in the buy it now! here is the link for that: http://cgi.ebay.com/GU10-3-1W-3W-LED-Lamp-...=item7b684f0860 Quote Link to comment
Lalebeq
Ok i did it hehehe ordered 2 white and one blue for my little 3.5 gallon now to play waiting game Quote Link to comment
Philip271
Lalebeq, I'd advise you to order 1-3 more blues. 2 whites and 1 blue isn't going to look great. 1:1 is fine but you'll get better colors with more blues to whites. Quote Link to comment
TinyGiant
hes going to run the bulbs without optics and thermal epoxy them. it will be a fine start considering he only has 4" above the tank. .. he prolly should have given some more info i think he also meant 2 blue and 1 white.. which is what i advised him to do .. hopefully lol Quote Link to comment

Philip271
ah. ok. that's better. still, i bet you'll want to add maybe one of each especially if running w/out optics. Quote Link to comment
bulldogpet
Could I get away without optics on a 12" deep tank ? Looking at a Mr. Aqua 7.5 cube Quote Link to comment
dlogfx
So finally got my sockets in and was able to finish the hood. I put the lights on a rail system that adjusts the angle from front and back. Currently I have 5 white/4.5 blue (lol, one bulbs was defective, only 2 of 4 LEDs light up) but I'm thinking of getting 1 more blue so I could do 6b/4w. Pretty happy so far. Just a little longer for corals to go in and then I'll be able too see what these lights could really do. Quote Link to comment
nickjqz
Nice! Love the hood! Quote Link to comment
Neya
Just want to remind everyone how nerve wracking/stressful china post can be. My previous bulbs came quickly, with very accurate/very fast updates to tracking. My new bulbs from LED-HK have no tracking, and the new whites from another seller also use EMS/USPS. The whites were shipped Aug 7. On Aug 10 the only thing showing on tracking was "China People Republic: Acceptance" (This is, what I assume to believe, customs acceptance by China pre-inspection). So I waited and waited... Checked periodically. It was the longest customs stay I ever had in China - at least - it felt like it. I guess I'm spoiled, ive never had a package from China take in excess of 2 weeks. Today the tracking updated again for the first time.Dated 8/13 that it "Passed China Customs" (this is through EMS tracking, usps will never say anything about china customs). Usps instead will just say somethine like Origin Post is Preparing Shipment Registered Mail™ Processed Through Sort Facility August 13 2011 9:07am so I still have to go through US customs I believe? Unsure whether one or both is done. However Just trying to show that even tracking information can be on a 5 day delay leaving someone to think customs is thumbing through your stuff and potentially lost it. TinyGiant
lol i usually just dont pay attention.. if you look at your ebay shipping it usually gives a range of when it might arrive. i just look at the furthest date and assume thats when they will arrive. I ordered some in the last week of july that are supposed to be here by the 19th of august. they'll show eventually Quote Link to comment
DIstudio
Neya ~ I feel your pain. I ordered my bulbs from LED HK about 5 weeks ago..still nothing, Ebay says that they should of been delivered by Aug 12th I figured I'd wait until tomorrow and then email the seller to see if they can't try and track them down. Sadly, I also ordered the sockets from a US seller...same time and they haven't arrived either. I think my post man is secretly building a tank at my expense! Quote Link to comment

dlogfx
I guess I got lucky. I got mine from LED-HK and they came in 2 weeks. I never really tracked my order just assumed it would be a long time. I was really surprised when I got them because I thought the shipping would be allot longer. drunkenmonk21
That does look nice, im waiting for my bulbs to come in aswell lol, Dlstudio I think me and you are about to build the same tanks lol. Sentenza what watt, number and colors are you using there? Josh Edited August 18, 2011 by drunkenmonk21 Quote Link to comment
sentenza
I had ordered 6 gu10 bulbs from Spain (I'm from Italy) 7000 k each one with 3w cree leds, so 9 w for bulb. Then I ordered 8 cree leds royal blu and I welded them instead of 8 7000k. In this way I have made my custom bulbs lol Quote Link to comment
whiteheadfamily2415
The hood does look good dlogfx! Tiny, I'm building a 125 currently (72x18x24) and would love to go this route over MH. I've seen scattered opinions on "how many per foot", x number of rows, # of blue to white, etc. My rock config will be similar to yours (pillars) with a few "bridges" connecting the pillars. Any suggestions? Quote Link to comment
zydeco69
dlogfx, that hood looks great. I plan on doing something close to that. should have my sockets in today or tomorrow. I was wondering what the depth is on that hood? Thanks Zy Quote Link to comment
