Coolhandreefer
Hey, you got the Aqua Clear filter box from Pico to work on your rimmed tank? I was told it might not work on a rimmed tank, that's why I'm wondering, thanks! Nice tank btw, I think as of now I'm going with a 40 breeder sumpless for my new tank in a couple months. It lines up fine and I didn't even have to use any of the clips that they give you- it works perfect on a standard 40B with an AC110. It's silent as well. You can barely hear the sound of falling water if you turn off everything else in the tank and hold your ear within a couple of inches of the thing. It has helped get rid of that annoying surface scum in my tank and reminds me when it's time to top off Link to comment
Roshan8768
Pics!!!! Neon Green Clove Polyps- started with around 8 heads know up to 15-16 http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/Roshan8768/media/imagejpg3_zps90a9de26.jpg.html] Mystery Paly- came in as one polyp on a dragoneye frag in the pico. Dragon eye's are long gone, but these are doing well. About 24-25 heads http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/Roshan8768/media/imagejpg6_zps5444db53.jpg.html] New Paly frag- not melting or growing. Name would be nice? http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/Roshan8768/media/imagejpg4_zps5451d66c.jpg.html] Wrasse!!! http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/Roshan8768/media/imagejpg2_zps866eec4b.jpg.html] Clam http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/Roshan8768/media/imagejpg8_zps3b850084.jpg.html] Doing surprisingly well... has shown good mantle extension. The new tang likes to nip at it ever once in a while :/ but it doesn't seem to be doing any damage, just cause that section of the mantle to retract for a couple of hours- no visible damage the next day. Hopefully this doesnt become an issue http://s1303.photobucket.com/user/Roshan8768/media/imagejpg7_zps69d60137.jpg.html] Anyone seen this before? Looks like my aiptasia are taking a beating from something maybe the lights?? Roshan8768
Picked up some SPS testers for a second try. These are from a different fish store and they were propagated from corals that he has growing under maxspect razors. Hopefully these do well!! I have moved one of the koralias out from behind the rockwork to up the flow a little bit. Pics where taken 6-7 hrs after they were added. Both pieces are showing decent P.E. Link to comment
Roshan8768
Hmm... patches of the monti cap are turning a lighter violet/pink. Any cause for concern? Neither of the pieces are showing much polyp extension... Link to comment
Roshan8768
No more SPS for me... for real. There's something with this tank, maybe the GSP is just dumping all kinds of chemical warfare or something?? Or maybe it's the low pH. Honestly don't know and don't really care atm. I'm sticking to softies only for a while. Devil's hand, GSP, Xenia, Kenya tree and Clove Polyps are all showing good growth. This is probably in response to the level of stability this tank has had in the past couple of weeks as well as the increase in bioload Link to comment

I used to run a bag of BRS ROX in an AC70 to mitigate the toxins my toadstool leather exuded in my 35g. Even now in my 90, I can see a toadstool in my tank burning a hardy SPS just by being in close proximity. I think with your quantity of softies, the allelopathy would be intense. Link to comment

I have carbon, but I don't usually run it. I've had issues with running too much and messing up the softies. I think it's got to be the allelopathy because I checked the parameters and everything else was on point. I've also had issues with some LPS. I think I'm going to pick up a variety of leathers and call it a day for this tank. I'm starting to run out of space anyways Well crap. So how low is the PH? Is the KH stable? The pH is stable between 7.8-8.0. The kH shouldn't be an issue... I posted that when I saw what was left of the SPS. After testing everything looks in order. SG: 1.025 Ca: 460 kH: 8 I need to add some more caves to my rock scape so my yellow tang has a place to sleep at night Link to comment

Roshan8768
Tank is doing really well after some water changes and blasting out all the detritus in my sand bed. Both my Koralia's burnt out so I'm currently running just a maxijet 400 in circulation mode (~500 gph) and an old k1 I had lying around. All the corals are showing good growth, and hopefully there will be some good coralline algae growth soon. I will pick up a frag of a tester LPS as soon as that starts coming along. Link to comment

Also moving the pipe organ to the square/circle once it grows a little bit. Any idea as to what will grow in the triangle region? Maybe some mushrooms or something? Thoughts? Link to comment

Roshan8768
I think shrooms would do well there, out of direct light. It's really shaded, so maybe they would work. If anything I would be concerned about too little light. I think my tank has way too much flow the way it's set up right now. I'm trying to figure out a good pump configuration... Maybe just 1 pump in the back left corner plus the AC110... all my corals look a lot better when they're not getting blasted Link to comment
Gooburz
Still shocked that is a 40 breeder and not a 75 gal. I have a 40 Breeder and yours looks a lot larger than mine! Love the rockscape you did on the right, did you ziptie or use some type of glue for the rock from on the right? Link to comment

I don't have a build up for my 40 yet but I will get one up soon. I kept my build simple and basic with no sump/fuge and a HOB skimmer Link to comment
