Tired
Yep! It really seems to like starting on algae-covered glass, for some reason, instead of rock and whatnot. Quote Link to comment
InAtTheDeepEnd
ahhh happy days. Just wanted to check before celebrating. But coralline afaik likes stability, sooooo hopefully it's a sign things are pottering along ok in my lil cube of ocean Quote Link to comment
Reefkid88
At least you hace it growning. Mune I had on live rock has just gotten thicker, and spread on that rock. Some has turned pink in spots and some has turned dark red 🤷♂️ whats up with that @TheKleinReef @Pjanssen @Tired !?! Quote Link to comment
Tired
There are different species of coraline that come in different colors, so probably that's what you're seeing. 1 Quote Link to comment
Reefkid88
Its just strange, because it was all purple when I got it from WWC lol looks good though. Just over time it seems to me that the pink is in lower light spots say like the bottom of the rubble reds in higher flow pieces and the rest is purple. Quote Link to comment
InAtTheDeepEnd
there's loads of different species. You can even get freshwater coralline Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
If the purple was on the rock when you bought it, it may be a painted on substance. Quote Link to comment

Obviously someone didnt even read the post and glance at the picture lol. Or maybe someone has been painting coralline on their glass for that old lived in look. I hear it's all the rage. 2 Quote Link to comment
InAtTheDeepEnd
lol would love to know what rock @Pjanssen is talking about, so far as I'm aware there's no levitating boulders halfway up the glass in my tank ..... I have also never, in my whole time in the hobby, actually bought any rock. 😂 Quote Link to comment

geekreef_05
Well that makes it less funny... ....or does it? Pink coralline. Pft. Maybe in the 80s. Does it grow via disco ball lighting? Quote Link to comment

Rubble rock is from WWC coral flats, its calcium reactor media. So technically its not "rubble rock" . 1 Quote Link to comment
