Pjanssen
Have added a green mushroom and some palys from the 14 and the Duncan the torch and the acans from the 29. Nothing is placed yet and really bad picture, but 4 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
As I'm breaking down my 14 I realize there are a bunch of pods swimming around in what's left of the water, about a 1/2 inch. Going to try to harvest as many of them as I can without Getting too much of the sand with them. Then they will go into the fuge and hopefully reproduce. I may pick up a pod hotel. 4 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
Trying to harvest pods was a failure. But transferring some more corals over... I chipped the mushrooms off of the rocks that they were on. Will glue them to something else. 5 Quote Link to comment

I dump in 3 bags every 2 weeks from my LFS to keep stocked up, but it seems that a lot of people are mail ordering in the states? I might be wrong like. 1 Quote Link to comment

Yes I can get them easily, I just thought I could save them from the thank I was tearing down. But it was not to be. *tank 2 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
I was hoping, and thinking, that I could get the rocks that the Burning Banana and Cyphestrea were growing on would break where I could keep the colonies as 1 piece. I'm thinking I'm going to keep 1 good piece of each and trade the rest to the LFS. 5 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
The RFA was the hardest to get. I had to completely destroy the rock that it was in to get it to release. Hopefully it does ok, it is one of my oldest corals. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
An assortment of small or broken corals, including some purple death palys that have always been beautiful but have never grown much. A small piece of idaho grape that is not so grape looking anymore. Some Utter Chaos that were doing great until neglect start to occur. a little bit of burning banana on the same rock as the utter chaos. And a piece that broke off of the big red Monti cap. Here is the nicest/biggest piece of cyphestrea 2 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
The monti cap has been pretty pissed off since the transfer, so I'm running some carbon for a day or two. 3 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
The hammer seems to be doing okay, has a bit of a way to go though. 6 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
The only things remaining to transfer over are two rocks of Zoanthid colonies. Both were so riddled with algae that I don't want to risk putting them in this tank yet. I manually removed as much as i could, treated with some peroxide, followed by an iodine dip. Put them back in the holding tank with just a couple live rocks and a power head. No lights. Will do a water change every few days and monitor for improvement. With no lights and no feeding, I should be able to starve out the rest of the algae fairly quickly 🤞. 3 Quote Link to comment
seabass
Very nice. I like the aquascape too. 2 1 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
Just now, seabass said: Very nice. I like the aquascape too. Thank you. Now I just need to figure out permanent placement of things and get them glued down. Then sit on my hands and try to wait a few months before adding anything else. 3 Quote Link to comment

Everything is in except a couple of Zoa rocks. They were covered in algae, so I am working on get that under control before putting them in this tank. Should be soon. Went through a small diatom bloom, but nothing major. Snails have done a great job of keeping things pretty clean Lost my cleaner shrimp yesterday. He was over 3 years old, so I think that is about a normal lifespan. It's really hard to get pictures because of all of the glare coming from windows on the opposite wall. Keep saying I'm going to do it ar night, but obviously I've yet to do that! Bought a RO/DI unit, but having trouble getting it to produce. Even with a booster pump I can't get more than 10-15-PSI. Need to contact the manufacturer but it's hard when their hours are 9-5 Monday through Friday. 3 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
Decided to move the Zoa rocks in. They aren't really placed exactly where I want them, and of course they are all closed up right now. Just a quick cell hone shot taken tonight. Need to do some clean up and get everything placed then will get the good camera and tripod out to try to get a couple of decent pics. 5 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
Getting some crazy polyp extension from the favite, so decided to feed some reef chili. It and the scans seem happy. 5 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
Did a water change today-6.5 gallons of natural ocean that I've always used, and .5 gallon of Tropic Marin pro. Will gradually switch over to the tropic Marin. Still having issues with the RO/DI unit. Turns out that it is missing a flow restrictor, which is why I can't get any pressure, even with a booster pump. I have to give a big thumbs up to AquaFX, they have been great in helping me troubleshoot and are sending me the part that I need even though I didn't buy the unit from them. Pjanssen
Did some testing Alk 6.6 Ca 450 Hooked up the doser and set it to dose 2 ml of Red Sea Alk and 1 ml Red Sea Ca. Also manually dosed 4 ml AB+ (Red Seas Aminos/carbohydrates) Tank is looking really good, though a bit bare. Hubby keeps asking when we can add more stuff. I'd like to wait awhile and make sure everything is fairly stable. I haven't had much of an ugly stage yet. Snails do a great job of keeping surfaces clean. I clean film off the glass every couple of days. Vacuumed the sand bed with water change, about every 2 weeks at this point. Still some algae annoyingly growing amongst the Zoanthids. I really hope I can get it to die off some more. Looking back, it The Zoa colony) was quite the showpiece at one time. 3 Quote Link to comment
Pjanssen
Also, looking at the current FTS, I'm thinking the red monti would look better if it were down on the level that the Duncan is. But that would mean having to relocate the Duncan, and it is very happy where it is. Any thoughts? Suggestions? 1 Quote Link to comment
