Thank you!

Not sure about the nem, good news is his health doesn’t seem affected!

I've heard of this happening to RFAs for extended periods of time in other people's tanks as well, but I am still not sure what the cause is. The traditional wisdom when dealing with an everted anemone is to increase flow; sometimes 'nems turn themselves inside-out because they are trying to improve oxygenation of their tissues. Not sure if this will work or not though since certain RFAs seem to just do this for long intervals with no other ill effects. 🤷‍♂️ Does it still take food when its inside-out like that?

I run as high of flow as possible without blowing sand everywhere. When first introduced to the tank he moved himself to a lower flow side and hasn’t moved since. I moved the rock he’s on to coax him to relocate, seeing if maybe that will help.

He does take food and eats. His mouth further inverts and kinda sucks in, but not fully.

If disturbed, it “pulls in” normally, his mouth shrinks in size, but again it doesn’t fully retract into his body.

Will continue to update.

  • 1 month later...

Welp. I finally lost the RFA. It was in it's inverted state for about 2 months, it went back to normal but then ended up dying.

I had a drop in alch, recalibrated/upped dosing and I think swing that was the kicking point for him.

Everything else in the tank is doing fine. I will post update photos at the end of this month.
