  1. Hi everyone, thanks for visiting my journal. 🙂 I got started in the hobby to take my mind off of work stress back in February 2018, and set up my Biocube 16 on 3/3. I was immediately hooked and started my second tank, my IM Nuvo 10, on 6/16. I really appreciate all of the knowledge and support I’ve found here. This hobby, and the community, got me through a tough time in my life, so thank you for that! I’ve learned so much in the past few months, and I’ve enjoyed the beauty and wonder in everyone’s tanks. 💛 Recent full tank shots: Biocube 16 (stock LED lights), February 28, 2019 Daylights Beauty Lights Blues Nuvo 10 (AI Prime) Favorite Pics: Biocube 16, Taken 4/23/19 Biocube 16, Taken 5/17/19 Current Biocube 16 Setup, as of 1/26/2019: Light Schedule, Stock LED Lights: LC1 11 am - 9:00 pm LC2 10 am - 9:30 pm LC3 6 am - 12:30 am Chamber 1: Coralife skimmer, temp probe, false floor still intact, tab between chamber1 & 2 still intact (I recommend keeping the tab intact as it supports the Coralife skimmer if you ever want to use one) Chamber 2: Stock media rack, filter floss, Chemipure Elite (for up to 25 gallon), 2 sacks of matrix media Chamber 3: Cobalt Neotherm 50W heater, Chill Solutions chiller pump and hoses, Purigen (for up to 100 gallon) which is sitting in the spot where the small black sponge filter was (if you take out the sponge, save it in case you want it in the future) Original Journal Pics, from August 2018: Equipment Ideas for Beginners: When I first set up my tank, it was difficult to figure out what I really needed to run my tank, so I thought I would post my suggestions here to give people a nice starting point and maybe help you avoid the trial and error process I went through. Nevs Nano

Hey Fellow Reefers! I’ve finally decided to start a thread to log all my changes and progress that occur during my first attempt at a saltwater aquarium. I can say this experience has been eye opening and very chaotic at times! The husbandry and seeing all it workout has made this hobby worth wild! Anywho I started w/ a 5 Gallon TopFin tank and quikly upgraded to the Nuvo10 within a few months. The tank has been currently running now for nearly 8 months. Cant wait to log the progress and get back to you all! Happy Reefing, Nevvy

    RDA's IM Nuvo 10

After a hot minute I finally got up and running on a new nano reef tank! I'm new to this forum but not so new to the saltwater game (but still consider myself a beginner). Being that I live in a small town with an even smaller support for the saltwater hobby, I figured I could share my build and pick up some tips and experience along the way, as well as just document how my aquarium evolves. The tank itself is an Innovative Marine Nuvo 10. I'm not running anything special, as far as equipment goes I have a Fluval Sea Marine Nano for lighting and am utilizing a Hydor Koralia nano 240 and Cobalt NeoTherm 50w for heating and circulation in the aquarium. I am running the stock return pump on the tank for now, as well as keeping it stupid simple with filtration; using a generic filter mesh and some ceramic media for my mechanical and biological along with some carbon just to help polish the water). Being such a small tank, my main source of maintaining water parameters and nutrient export will be good old fashioned water changes. My stocking list is pretty minimal given I don't have one yet 😉 I was thinking about keeping a Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse with a Flaming Prawn Goby, but the jury is still out on that one. What I do know is that after the tank is cycled I'll be adding some simple corals like zoathids or maybe a mushroom or two to kick things off. I still have some tweaking to do, but until then I can sit back and watch my fabulously clean, empty tank 🤗 Thanks for stopping by and I'll keep you posted.

    Ultimate Nuvo 10 | Aquascape

Hey guys, I’m new to the “nano reef forum” community but not new to nano reef keeping. Follow me and the progression of my Innovative Marine NUVO 10 build. My goal with this tank is to ultimately keep a thriving “sps and zoa” dominate tank “most likely” (more on that as time goes on). Last night I spent a couple hours aquascpaing my tank and here the end result. I fixed all the rock work together with some putty. Let me know what you think! I kept the aquascape “low” to allow the sps to grow upward and fill in the empty space beautifully. I also left a lot of empty space on the bare bottom to allow corals to fill it. Thank you you for tuning in! I’ll keep updating the tanks progress as time goes on! Tips and tricks are always helpful! Enjoy the rest of your day!

Tony's IM Nuvo 10 Reef Journal

Welcome to my Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 10 build! Equipment List: Tank: IM Nuvo 10 gallon Stand: Fusion APS Cabinet Stand Heater: Cobalt Neo-Therm 50w Light: Ecotech Radion XR15w Pro G4 with Diffuser attachment, and RMS Tank Mount with custom riser Return Pump: Sicce Syncra 0.5 Powerhead: Ecotech Vortech Mp10w Quiet Drive Controller: Neptune Systems Apex EB8 Power Bar WXM for connecting to Radion and Mp10 LSM Lunar Sim Module (I dont think I will end up using this on a tank this small) pH, Temperature, and Salinity probes Breakout Box with Float switch controlling a second Sicce Syncra 0.5 ATO Pump (Breakout box also controls a LED light strip inside the cabinet triggered by a magnetic door sensor) DOS peristaltic dosing pump set to continuous water change of 1350 mL a day. Other: IM In Tank Media Basket Upgrade with Filter Floss in the top cage and a Chemi-Pure Blue Nano packet in each of the bottom 2. Livestock List: Clean Up Crew: Dwarf Cerith Snails, Nerite Snails, and Nassarius Vibex snails Female Yasha Hase Goby Red Banded Pistol Shrimp ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ It all started with this box of glass and this box of rocks: I decided to go with some Pukani Dry Live Rock and start out with as sterile of a system as possible. I soaked the rock in a diluted bleach and water solution for 2 weeks to remove any organic materials that might have been left over on the rock. After that I did a muriatic acid dip. I did about a 20 minute dip. I then let the rock cure in a bin in my garage for a few months in fresh water, doing 50% water changes every week or so. If I was going to do this again, I would dip for less time, with a more diluted solution. It is pretty crazy just how much the acid ate away from the rocks. I didn't take any pictures of this process, but to give you an idea of what I mean, here are some aquascapes I was playing around with before doing anything to the rock: And here is the first ever FTS: December 15, 2018 As you can see, the acid really opened up a lot of tiny little pores in the rock but it also ate away a good amount of the rock itself. I'm not saying I wouldn't do that again, but I'd definitely do it differently next time. Anyways, the tank finally got water in it, and got a Dr. Tim's fishless cycle going the first week of December 2018. Here's the Most recent FTS from the other day (sorry for dirty water, I had just finished doing a bit of scraping/cleaning): February 15, 2019 The first additions after the cleanup crew were a Female Yasha Goby and a Red Banded Pistol Shrimp combo I scored from Diver's Den. Here's a pic of the Yasha while she was being drip acclimated: I didn't get any pictures of the shrimp that were worth sharing unfortunately. And once they went into the tank they disappeared for 2 days. I'm happy to say though that today I was able to catch a glimpse of the goby coming out to snag a few Mysis shrimp I fed! She wouldn't let me get close enough to take a good picture without going into hiding, but I managed to snap this one: Well, that's pretty much all I have for now. I'll update with some more info tomorrow as far as future plans are concerned and hopefully some more pictures! I do apologize for the quality of the photos, I have a pretty old phone, and I'm not the best photographer to begin with - but I do promise to get better as I go. I know how much everyone loves pictures, and I'd like to have a nice photo documentary of this tanks progress. Thanks for stopping by! Please feel free to post any questions/comments/concerns. I'm looking forward to being part of the Nano-Reef community!

    My Nuvo 10 build!

Not sure how this whole journal thing works but thought I would keep this journal for me (and others to keep up with) I am on day 32 of my tank build. my equipment -Kessil A80 Tuna Blue -stock return pump (soon replacing with sicce 0.5) -heater (Petco brand not sure exact one) Not sure if I should get a nano protein skimmer?? My LFS said it’s probably not necessary but I’m gonna do more research my live stock has built up quite a bit and here’s what it’s loaded with -2 occe clowns -2 hermits -1 conch -2 snails -1 pink torch coral branching 3 heads -candy cane colony (15 heads) - green hammer coral branching 1 head -2 orange/gray acan -3 ricordea -1 gsp -1 two head red mushroom - 1 cabbage coral -1 zoa 6 heads ( eagle eye) -1 Kenya tree Plan on getting some frogspawn, more zoas and torches. Also want one more small fish but not sure if I will have enough room Since I’m already a month late on posting this I’m going to post from the day water was put in my tank to my pics I took tonight Note I have been very indecisive and have changed my aquascape, arrangement of corals, and my actual live rocks a lot in just this month 😂 hope you guys will enjoy following along!! Many input is appreciated greatly! Day one Day 3 added my live rock Week 2 cycle complete time for fishies and some corals week 3 more corals! Week 3 1/2 did not like the top arm so removed it and made more flat simplistic look Week 4 got two new ricordia sand 2 acan!!! Week 4!!! just got a new candy cane colony, torch, and center price covered in coraline! Can’t wait to see how this turns out in a year from now!!!
  10. I have a 10 gallon nuvo cube and a kessil A80 light, I just got two clowns, two hermits, and 4 lps soft corals. I was wondering what should my light schedule be like? And the intensity and so forth. Right now as I’m going to bed I have it at 0/0 but I’m not sure if that is okay for coral? Please HELP!

    CKane’s IM Nuvo Fusion 10

Excited to share that I will be upgrading from the Fluval Evo 5 to an IM Nuvo 10! Not sure when the tank will get wet, but I thought I’d start a tank journal for suggestions. Lighting: AI Prime HD (suggestions for light schedule?) Flow: aqueon 600 (from my 5g, 150GPH) and Current Orbit 660 wave pump Sand: thinking Caribsea’s special grade reef sand so no sand blows around the tank Rock: trying to decide if I should wait until I find the perfect rock or use epoxy to make my own rock, suggestions? Filtration: custom caddy with phosguard, filter floss, and chemipure blue nano Livestock: 1 ocellaris from my 5g and a small skunk cleaner shrimp, may pick up a small clown goby or other small fish corals: most of the corals in my 5g will be used in my 10g. I’d like the 10g to have a large zoa garden, and some more monti cap and digi. Considering making this an anemone tank with just an anemone and maybe zoas? The 5g was a great learning experience, made some rookie mistakes (not dipping coral frags) and have some nudibranchs and I believe a zoa parasite that’s causing one of my colonies to close up. Pictures are of the 5g currently and the new 10g. Any suggestions for the 10g are much appreciated!!!
  12. Hi all! I just recently got into the saltwater hobby about 3 months ago I do have a 55 gallon FOWLR at the moment and just recently picked up a Nuvo 10 from my LFS he gave me a pretty sweet deal and it was up and running with him for about a year and a half. Transferred real smooth to my home with no issues. All parameters checked clear after the move and letting it settle. I’ve been following multiple threads here and it’s great to see there are a lot of people willing to help out and give advice. I did my first 2 gallon water change and plan on doing the 2 gallons weekly. This is is when I first got it home 10/13/18 10/18/18 Equipment: IM NUVO Fusion 10 IM Custom Caddy Sicce Syncra Silent 0.5 AI Prime HD 50 watt Aqueon Heater Filtration: 10 lbs Sand LFS gave me 7 lbs Reef Saver Rock 2 Marine Pure spheres Chemipure Blue Nano Purigen Livestock: 2 Frostbite Clowns 1 Astrea Snails 1 Red Legged Hermit 2 Brittle starfish (came in tank) Current Corals: Torch Gold Torch Bicolor Hammer (Blue/Green) Acan Zoas Ultra BTA
  13. Started this tank on March 30, 2017 with stock pump and filter sock, koralia nano from previous tank, and 5 lb of LR, and about 8.5 gallons of saltwater to start. The tank is almost a year old now and some upgrades have happened. (will take some better pics with the camera later) Equipment -IM Ti ATO (going to tunze nano ato) -Ran a kessil a80 for 11 months before going to a radion (diffusion kit/rm -Jbj 1/15 hp Chiller with 1.0 return -Sicce 0.5 return - inTank Media rack with 2 filer floss on top, seachem matrix, bottom two filter flosses -inTank universal media skimmer -was running a IM desktop Media Reactor with carbon but since the RMS mount is fairly big i had to remove the reactor (don't mind that because its freaking study!) So in turn I have a Fudge basket that I might run with more matrix in it if the tunze 9001 doesnt work out (coming) -MP10 wQD -inTank Frag rock (2) - 5 lb LR -3 lb Sand (going to take down to less lb's till its barley covered probably -Cobalt Aquatics Neotherm 100w heater - 6.5 chemipure Live Stock: - Rainbow Acans - Duncans - Walking Aussie Duncan - Purple Tipped Frogspawn - Young Maxima Clam - Rock anemone -3 nassarius snails -3 Trochus Snail -3 Aussie young scolymia/s? LOL -Side plant is one of 3 succulents I got at a baby shower and decided to try to grow it under the XR-15 instead of my bedroom window lol, so if they switch out ever that why. Let me know if you have any thoughts on the tank! Plan on upgrading to a Lagoon 25 at some point this year I hope!

    flow for nuvo10

I'm a complete noob at reefing and could use some help. I have a nuvo fusion 10 that has been set up for 7 months now. Im currently running the stock return pump and have really bad flow in the tank which is causing my frogspawn to not open up as much as it use to. Anyone know of any budget friendly ways to increase the flow without completely overdoing it? If possible I'd like to avoid adding a huge power head that takes up space in such a little tank.

    Reef Glass protein skimmer!!

Hello all! I just installed my reef glass protein skimmer last night on my one month old Nuvo 10G i wanted to know if this is how much the bubbles should rise up to the stopper, i heard the further away from the stopper, the dryer the skimmate, and the closer to the stopper, the wetter the skimmate(what reef glass suggests). i wanted a mix or balance if you will of both. Here is where the bubbles rise up to now, they dont really touch the stopper, but they get near it let me know your inputs and what works best for you guys!! This little reefglass is epic!!!
  16. I.D this clownfish!

Hello everyone, attached is my brand new clownfish i picked up today at my LFS. My LFS doesnt have names for the clownfish they sell, they have several types, but they dont name them.. i picked him up for 65$ (Canadian dollars) if you take a look, he doesnt have that "true" orange that all regular ocellaris clowns have. This one has a very deep black colour on top and towards the tail, vibrant orange, and clear white! i'd like to say its a regular ocellaris but its not, anyone know what this type is called? At my lfs they had these one in a different tank than the regular ocellaris! Thanks

AI PRIMES LIGHT SCHEDULE ON IM10

Hey everyone! Been 2 weeks since I set up my tank, cycle is finished (nitrates are still around 20~) and everything is coming along nicely. I've added my clean up crew (10-13 small hermit crabs, and 2 nassarius snails) Before I add my first clown and some small zoa frags, I'd really like to know if anyone has some input or feedback for the ai prime light schedules they use. Here is the one I just created (taking into account that I'm working all day so I'd like to view my tank at night time more than during the day...) If anyone can tell me if I'm off to a good start, I'd really appreciate it, obviously I'll need to adjust as I see fit for the coral I decide to add eventually, but I do not want to bleach my corals either from the get go. Max output gets to 20 watts and I have my blues and purple as my drivers, white is on the lower end. (Lights go on at 1:30pm, ramp up until 9pm, and then ramp down and close at 12:30am (midnight, yes I sleep late) Thanks again guys, happy reefing!
