Morning! 🤗

My mum just told me that the filter sock (which I dried outside) is still stinky. I scrubbed it thoroughly yesterday using soap & vinegar, but it looks like that wasn't enough. Will rinse it with boiling hot water in the sink later. 👍

I performed a 30G WC in the morning and it took me around 2 hours. Am drop-dead exhausted because I've WCed a total of ~50G in <24 hours, but...my tank looks much, much better & happier than before. 😊

Recovering chalice:

Conch on the move:

I used up a lot of salt today, and it did take a lot of physical work (had to manually mix the salt by hand because the spare wavemaker is rusty & use the bucket method to refill the tank - that was *not fun) but I think it was worth the effort.

If the tank continues to recover, then I'll try adding some small, basic shrooms as tester frags in Dec. Might even add a small normal softy or two. 🤔

I think if I'm purchasing any large LPS pieces in the future, I'll do it via my primary LFS only. The choices are lesser, but the corals are healthier there and have been conditioned to aquarium life longer. Plus, I do have a strong rapport with both branches of my primary LFS and usually have access to unique things at affordable prices in their store(s). 😊

Pink yuma has changed colors to bright orange with a blue base: 🤔

Emerald mummy eyes chalice - one of my two healthy chalices in the tank:

Orion & Poseidon - Orion has gained a *bit of weight, although he is still nowhere near an optimal body weight (for a dragonet) *yet:

Definitely will be losing this piece, which is a shame: 😓

But I'll be keeping the skeleton in the sump/refugium because the base of it is full of filter feeders - colorful duster worms, tunicates & sponges. It'll be a good food/decoration source for my spider decorator crab, Spyder, in the fuge. 👍

Fed the fish some mysis in the morning:

The fish loved it: 😊

A quick peek at Tic: 🤗

And this was the rusty wavemaker I pulled out of my sump days ago:

It's still fully functional, and luckily I can separate the pump from the holder, if I ever need to use it. Still think it's better not to, though.

We had several cold, rainy days. Tank temp. was a bit lower than usual, and Goblin had his seasonal flare up of white spots again: 😕

I checked up on the other fish - no spots, lumps, flashing etc. Only Goblin is affected. I think the recent debacle with all the corals partially dying might have stressed him out as well.

Will keep a close eye on him and make sure he eats. The food already has garlic in it, and I do add extra vitamins to it, so I'll have to wait this flare up out - again. 🤔

Also, I was thinking of compiling some dragonet progress pics - to see how much each of my dragonets have changed (both size- & length-wise) over the months that I have had them. Orion's progress will be very little since he's still new to the tank, but I'm eager to see Bella & Illaron's progress - especially Illaron. 🤔

I forget is your fuge visible or hidden in a cabinet? There is so much life in there I could sit and watch it for hours.

Oh! It's inside the cabinet! I modified the skimmer compartment in the sump and turned it into a full on fuge for all the pod-eaters in my DT. The compartment was originally created to hold a Bubble Magus C-5, if I'm not mistaken. But I decided to go skimmerless and convert that slot into a fuge. And I agree - it is full of life. So many critters running around - I have various types of pods, asterina stars, microbrittlestars, bristleworms etc. It's also full of different types of algae, sponges, tunicates and other sessile hitchikers. The only large living critter in there is my spider decorator crab. I think he feeds off the algae & sponges - I've tried to manually feed him slices of chopped shrimp without success (he literally picked them up and tossed them aside like trash 😛 ).

Brilliant. I'm.looking at turning my main compartment into a fug. Can't wait. What light do you have over yours?

An ordinary clip-on one with blue & white LEDs. Listed for either a FW tank or FOWLR SW tank. I initially used it as a temporary light, but when I noticed it could grow macro, I kept it permanently over the fuge.

Oh great. I have a very small marine white and blue (only 20 LEDs) from my old tank. I might try that before I buy anything 👍🏼

Remember Beau, my CB angel which I returned to the LFS to be rehomed? Turns out my LFS was rather fond of him, so they decided to permanently keep him in one of their DTs. Beau now lives with a clownfish harem and is quite happy:

^That mandy's name was Michael, and he ate pellets too. All in all, an amazing fish that I had with me for ~1.5 years before I gave him away.
