Just started a Fluval evo 13.5g. Was going to do a 3g picotope but wife wanted more than one fish. So far the tank is still using stock equipment. Have anAI prime coming in the mail tomorrow. 15lb of live sand and 14 lbs of live rock. Just waiting for the cycle to be done. Haven’t done any water test. Salinity is at 1.024. Using the Topic Marin salt.

Nice.  One observation is that it will be hard to clean the panel with the return.  If you plan on letting that panel get covered in coralline, then no problem.

Yeah plan on it being covered in coralline. I aimed one of the return nozzle towards the back so bad stuff don’t accumulate there.

Just added a new powerhead. Hydro pico. 180gph. I like it so far but I’m not sure about how sturdy the attachment piece for the magnet to the pump is. Seems flimsy. Might have to zip tie it or glue.

Got it. I originally bought this light for a 3g. Probably will have to put light a little higher for even light coverage over the 13.5g

They look like Babylonia whelks (Babylonia formosae).  They can be predatory and kill clams and even other snails.

Lfs labeled them as nessarius snails. After looking up pics. They do look like welks. I’ll keep a close eye on them

So the whelks snails have been replace with good ol’ Turbo snails. Also added a pair of clowns. This weekend I will make a screen lid just in case the fish try to make a jump for it.

Just finished with the screen lid. A little crude for now. Might paint it black later. I don’t see this lid lasting a long time. I’m going to try and get in contact with the dude who makes59A4B19B-BE52-4AA0-A03F-FA380DED8DE7.thumb.jpeg.667ba83f94e03a5557885b90a73c6a10.jpeg the acrylic screen lids.

Beautiful clownfish pair, how are they doing so far?

Better safe than sorry when it comes to lids and screens! What did you make yours from?

Thank you! Clowns are doing well. I made the lid out of an old window screen I had laying around. The clips to hold the lid I got from amazon for $10.

Some back story. My first sw tank was a 24g aqua pod about 13 yrs ago. Then upgraded to a 90g. Then took it down after about 8 yrs. didn’t have time or the space for it anymore. Then down graded to a 20g. After that I quit reef tanks for about two years. Now I’m back with the fluval 13.5g. Here’s some pics of my old tanks. First pic is the 24g. Second pic is the 90g. Got tired of fragging all the corals and finding ppl who wanted them. So I took it down and gave everything away.

Fluval evo update. It’s been about a month since it started. Added some new corals. Everything is still alive and doing well. Had a little brown algae but went away in one day after a water change and reducing the lights and feeding.
