Let me get a head of that torch when it splits! 😂 At the rate that it’s going, It’d be another 6 months from now before I have another update on the split. A branching hammer would have been 8 heads by now. 😂 1 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
One more video, probably should have done YouTube or other video hosting sites instead of Instagram. But I guess if there is enough interests, I can try to do better shots. 4 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
Dirty-glass pic of the sunnyD mound. The colony had spread over the edge of a 2” round tile. can’t decide if the spillover needs intervention/removal. Thanks @pokerdobe for figuring out why my sunnyD turned brown (answer: not enough phosphate). 4 Quote Link to comment

Thanks @pokerdobe for figuring out why my sunnyD turned brown (answer: not enough phosphate). Way more credit than I deserve. As for the zoas overgrowing the disk, I'd trim back. You are sandless? I'd hate to be scraping zoas off the bottom of my tank. 1 Quote Link to comment

Who are you again? 😈 What's your parameters looking like? Admittedly, I've never had my zoas lose their skirts before, but it's always a good start. 😄 1 Quote Link to comment

But a little bit may help. another thought, if the skirts look damaged, you may have a rogue amphipod. I had a few big ones at one point that like to nibble on the zoa skirts. Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
Been about 3 weeks, since the last timer/alk check-in. just added another minute to the timer for the alk dosing pump, at the midnight point. new alk schedule. 8.00-8.01 pm 12:00-12:02 am 4:00-4:02 am 8:00-8:01 am 2:00-2:01 pm here’s a token pic to go along with the post, terrible reflection. 8 Quote Link to comment
mitten_reef
This little bugger is why I ended up with no sand bed. I had dozens across the sand at one point. But today I just found a new one 😱. I must have enough detritus pile built up in one spot in the corner for this one to pop up again. hopefully, he doesn’t have many friends left in the tank Quote Link to comment

mitten_reef
🤬 One of the pieces I got during holiday sale. I guess it still falls under wild/mariculture finicky-ness? I think I let the alk dipped too low. It’s sitting at 8 dKh today after the 8 pm dose. there are 3 more chunky pieces of it around the tank that seem to be doing ok for now. Not sure what the deal is with this one. 🤷🏻♂️ Story of an sps owner, pulling the whole chunk out tonight. 3 Quote Link to comment
DreC80
Well that sucks. What do you normally run alk at? Mine has been pretty steady at 7.7 over the last couple of months. I shoot for 8ish. Never tried to go higher...afraid of the outcome. 1 Quote Link to comment

Somewhere in 7.5-8 range. also just realized that maybe my timer is off by one hour due to daylight savings time. 😅 and I may have just increase the alk dose due to wrong testing time results. Oops. Put the doser back one minute. here’s something for @Matteo. No more front frag rack! Side one is necessary, can’t help it. 3 2 Quote Link to comment
