Dylan.N
One of the main reasons for setting up this tank was to take away the stress of law school. It's been working these past few weeks as finals start tomorrow. Not everything is pretty - the sandbed is getting replaced next month and there's aiptasia bothering a few corals - but after about 9 months the tank is doing well. I moved the big colony of blastos towards the middle of the tank because they were growing so much right against a rock and I wanted to give them more space. There may be a little too much flow in this spot, so I'll find another place during the next water change. The lepto is growing like crazy as well. All the fish are doing great. I don't know how people photograph their fish, but I sure don't know how. Link to comment
FlowerMama
I love the bright yellow up there and then the pink goniopora, so pretty. Link to comment
Dylan.N
Happy New Year! For Christmas I got a marine fusion truelumen light to go with my actinic blues so now I have a complete color spectrum. This is the first time I have white lights on this tank and the look of the tank has completely changed. I love it. After I recover tomorrow, I'll be replacing the sand bed on Monday or Tuesday. I'll have lots of before and after pics then. Link to comment
FlowerMama
Looking forward to seeing how it looks. Lighting changes so much. Link to comment
Dylan.N
Finished up in about 3 hours. Water is pretty clear now and everything looks good. I have some weird algae on my rocks though. I'm not really sure what it is or where it came from. I'm going to have to re-stock on snails. I wasn't able to do any rockscaping when re-filling the tank, so I'll do that tomorrow and get some pics once the water is all clear. This was the second time I've replaced the sandbed (the first time was in my other tank in Florida). It went much more smoothly this time, even though I did it alone. Very pleased with how the tank looks now. Link to comment
Dylan.N
Picture time. Before... And after... Here is a pic of the weird algae that is all over the rocks. Link to comment
reefaramos
Looking awesome, man. How has that duncan been for you? Considering that or some blastos as my next coral, I've never tried either. Link to comment
Dylan.N
Looking awesome, man. How has that duncan been for you? Considering that or some blastos as my next coral, I've never tried either. I've had both duncans and blastos in both of my tanks, and both have been fast growers. I'd recommend both. Link to comment
FlowerMama
I found duncans to be easier, I never made my blasto happy. Link to comment
Dylan.N
Here's the duncan and blasto in my other tank. Both corals started out as 1 head. Link to comment
Dylan.N
I have no idea how, but my six line jumped last night. I have egg crate covering the entire top of the tank, so he must have somehow jumped through it. But I'm sure the clowns aren't sad. He had been pretty aggressive towards them at times. Not sure if I'll get another six line or try something new. Link to comment
FlowerMama
Oh darn. I had one that jumped too, out of a tank with clowns. I never saw it be bullied by a clown but he jumped out of my 34 at the time. Link to comment
reefaramos
You definitey inspired me. Picked up some a bright green duncan and some awesome blastomussa wellsi. Thanks for ununtentionally introducing me to how cool they look. Also, sorry to hear about the wrasse. I'm pretty nervous to put anything prone to jumping in my tank at the moment, as its rimless as well :/ Link to comment
