AquaVaj
Oh nice! AA was great helping with my specifications but they accidentally made the initial overflow section about 1/2" too small Being that my design was pretty complex that's got me worried. Can you explain the issue in more details or post a pic? That would be great. Link to comment
bpounds1991
Well, essentially I just asked for a bigger footprint for the overflow return chamber as I already had a media basket and it ended up being just a tad bit too small. A couple pages back I posted a few pictures of when I first got it and you can see it already comes with slots in the return chamber so you can put in your own DIY eggcrate Link to comment
bpounds1991
Levels were all looking good so I couldn't help but get a few test hermits today! So far so good Link to comment
bpounds1991
So far they're doing well! Added a couple flakes for food since there isn't really any algae or feeding materials for them Link to comment

Alex B
Awesome pic ups! Word of advice. Wait a little more on the sps. I know it's tempting, but you should really get the tank stable and well established. I know your normal levels might be good, but things like calcium, alk, ect play a much bigger role with sps. Also new tanks, especially ones started with dry rock take a little longer to settle in. Don't know if you have tested for phosphates, but you should. Dry rock always seems to leach atleast a little bit. My reefcleaner rock was pretty good, but still leached a couple weeks. Good luck! Link to comment
bpounds1991
The only two I picked up were a couple of the cheaper/hardier/easier SPS just to see how they would do, I'm going to keep up with the biweekly water changes and hope they do well! Link to comment
bpounds1991
I don't plan on keeping but a couple SPS in the tank anyways so, although I do plan on getting the test kits for the CA/Alk/Mag in the near future, I don't think it will be too much of an issue. Link to comment
Alex B
Cool!! Those levels are very important with sps. One thing is keeping it alive. It's a whole other thing getting them to color up and get good growth. Link to comment
bpounds1991
Yes indeed. In high school I kept a 75 gallon dominant SPS system. Link to comment

bpounds1991
Going to be placing a rather large order of mushrooms, acans, and a couple SPS frags next week via myreeftoyours.com, going to start filling it up! Also placed an order for a jawfish at the LFS so hopefully they'll get one over the next couple weeks. Link to comment
