Hahaha it's all good. I took no offense to it. It was just one of those things where you couldn't help but want to try. I was thinking about maybe trying RS Amino's A & B and see how it does. Phols as a stand alone is amazing. I was dosing that before everything else and got awesome results in my 7 gallon and even in my 2 gallon once I shut the 7 gallon down for revamping.

the skimz sk181 is a awesome skimmer.FA540EC2-9B63-4F79-B446-F1AE350F10F5-626

Awesome!!

Is that your tank?? I know you have the nano, do you have a big tank too? I'm in between the Kone sk181 or the Monzter 161. The monzter is rated a bit higher, so if I upgrade I should be good to about 200 gallons.

i got that skimmer a while ago for $250 shipped. first true skimmer. and only place that had it was aquacave. had it on a 90g for 3 months and upgraded to a 150g cube. it was in the cube for that pic. when i bought the 150 i moved everything to my house and didn't have one thing die. when we bought our house and i moved it i got pretty sick for 3 days and couldn't set it up and lost everything so i sold it all. pretty sad day. heres a pic of the lost. not for the faint heart. that was just sps. i had 2 big acan colonies, 2 clams, scoloy, meat coral/donut coral.

pic of when it was in all its glory

i would look the sm161. they both seem to have the same rating at 320g but the monster as a higher air draw which will make the skimmer more productive.

I broke the nipple off the collection cup. I also out a big ass crack in it. I'll get some Weld on and fix it. Dont want to use CA glue on it. It's pretty big and with time will finish cracking the cup with the force of removal and installation. Some weld on should seal it all up though. Should be fine for my little pico.

Just got a email that the skimz I wanted it out of stock. I don't want to buy it from Amazon or anything. Would like to be it from somewhere that I know would back it up if I ever had any issues.

Anyone have experience with RLSS skimmers. They have a solid reputation and I can get one local. I saw one in action for a short minute once. It was dead silent with the dc pump. Chris at salty supply loves them. If I got one I would have local support on the skimmer and it has a good warrantee. Anyone??

You'd still more than likely need to deal with either the manufacturer or distributor if you have an issue with it, so getting it locally doesn't make too much of a difference. RLSS stuff is typically very expensive for the end product, but you do get good quality.

Well, Chris at salty supply is the official us distributor for rlss. Any problem here with rlss goes to him. Salty supply is 15 min from me, so technically he would handling any warrantee problems. That's about as local as can be :)

The pricing on the new rlss R6i is 349.99 that's with the waveline 4000 dc pump. I can prob get a few bucks off that price. It's the same price as the reef octo prime, skimz, and vertex. Those were the 3 skimmers I was looking at. I hear great reviews about the new skimmers. I know they are dead silent as I've seen some in action. Was just wondering if anyone here owns one and has any feedback.

After doing some research. I think I'll stay away from the RLSS. Reviews are mostly good, but sounds like they are very sensitive to tuning.

I'm about to just go with a Jns or aquamaxx. I had one on my old tank, never had a single problem. Seems like the aquamaxx Cone C0-1 is sold out everywhere, but I found the Jns. If this tank was a little bigger, I would buy a lifereef and call it good. I know that's what I will end up with in my next tank.

Hot damn that's sexy !!

;)

congrats, let me know what you think after you have had it working for a while.

I sure will. Thanks Christine!

Oh skimmer porn!

I agree. It is damn sexy.

Hey man, I'm not sure if you said or not but what bulb combo are you using?

Ark I'm running

4 blue+

2 ati actinics

1 coral+

1 purple+

Using the 2 actinics for sun up/down and running all 8 bulbs for 5 hours. Still acclimating the tank to the lights, but it doesn't look like I will need more then 6 hours of all 8 bulbs.

I do like a bluer spectrum. It's actually isn't that bad though. Maybe just a tad more blue then a ushio 20k. Atleast to my eyes lol...it actually looks really good.

This is what happens when I have a day off and I'm bored. I decided to keep my light and put it to use!

When I move next year I am getting a fish room, so I figure i can put the nanobox to use then. For now I'm using he heatsink and arrays from the old fixture for the ati. I'll grab some new 13ups from Dave later on for the frag tank.

No turning back now!

I have been fighting with this monti for a while. It's the WWC grafted cap from seaworld. I had been fighting to get the green out and have the colors blend. It's finally starting to take off and the green is getting red. It def likes lower light. It's been hanging out on the sand bed and I haven't given it much attention. Going to mount it low on some rock now :)

Soooo...I didn't finish the retro, but it's mostly prepped. I just have to get with Dave so he tells me how to cut the ati up.

While I'm at it, should I paint it white? If I did it, I would prob plasti dip it white. That way i can peel it off should I ever want to sell it.

Yay of nay??
