Abandoned Six Flags N.O.

Lalani

Recommended Posts

Took a trip to Six Flags (Jazzland) New Orleans this past Sunday with a friend and spent several hours there. It was amazing. The weather was nice though could have been a little cooler, and we had the place to ourselves for several hours before seeing another soul. Very eerie feeling to the place, especially when you think about how several thousand people used to crowd the park when it was open.

Full set (92 images) can been seen here.

Cool pictures. I'm surprised that you could walk through it. Did you have to jump a fence or something?

Nope, no jumping fences! We found a secluded back entrance and strolled right in. There was zero security this time around. :D

This was my favorite. Fantastic picture in such a eerie, sad kinda of way. Kind of sums up that whole disaster in a way.

All incredible pictures! Thanks for sharing.

Reminds me of photos I've seen of places in the Ukraine.

I'm glad you weren't arrested and strip/cavity-searched.

Hah, I'm glad of that as well! We were expecting to have to dodge security, but didn't have that trouble.

Thanks and yeah, its surprising how much is still left there. All of the buildings have been gutted, but the rides are mostly still intact.

I was in Lousiana a couple years ago and wanted to check this out. I remember going to New Orleans and seeing ads for Katrina tours. I have to admit, the place I stayed at in Louisiana was kind of boring but I think everyone should atleast once in their life go to Bourbon street and party, it is really nothing like I've ever done, and the French quarters are amazing. Great photos.

Edit: Give yourself some more credit, the pictures look damn near perfect :)

Hehe, thanks. And yeah, I've never been a big fan of New Orleans. Good food and party place but wouldn't want to spend a lot of time there. Unfortunately I may end up living there for school. :/

Wow. I'm going to make a bunch of cash when I crop out your watermark and sell prints of these. Thanks for posting them.

lol, thanks Loren, but you better not! :amgry:

I think you caught an image of one of the family members of that crazy cannibal family that has been said to squat in that abandoned park. Take a close look at image 9034.

Lani, I'm glad you went with a friend but I was curious if you are at all fearful of your safety when you find abandoned places. I mean not just the possibility of being mugged but structural safety of the buildings themselves?

This is AMAZING. I love seeing deserted places like this. Your photography captures the eeriness perfectly, Lalani. Great stuff! :D

Thanks chick!

Meh, just destroy the brain.

This was great!! I love the megaphone picture, definitely my favorite!

That is one of my favs too, thanks! :)

Oh yeah, there are always unsafe floors/roofs, chemicals like asbestos to worry about, rusty nails poking up from boards, snakes.

Got to be careful walking around any place that hasn't been maintained. Keep an eye on the ground, test the stability of flooring and structures, and watch out for unsavory individuals. Its a risk, but so much fun. :)

And for some reason it reminds me of the amusement park in Zombieland.

Haha. My current zombie apocalypse prepping plan consists of spray painting big white 3's on the sides of my black Ford Escape.
